Very knowledgeable staff who were willing to look up my list of books and help me find them or figure out where to look for them. The ladies who own the store have really used their own interests to build a broad collection. They also all seem engaged in the local community, and they knew almost everyone who walked through the door. If you like local businesses, you should visit this one!

Great little bookstore with an amazing selection. Growing up with Amazon and Borders is great if you know what you’re looking for but going to either on a hunch can be a chore. It’s rare in this day to find a shop like The Bookshelf in the Midwest, where the books are curated as well as they are. The ladies on staff are very kind and patient, too. The Bookshelf is the sort of cozy little store you read about in autobiographical fiction, a warm place you know the author is lucky to have worked in.

The Bookshelf is the name of a small bookstore in Madeira’s Camargo Station. Tucked away in the corner of the main level of the small two-story shopping center, The Bookshelf is appropriately named. The store is much smaller than any other bookstore I’ve been in and proportionally it is really like a bookshelf compared to a bookstore such as Barnes and Noble. Just like any bookshelf, however, there is always something good to read, regardless of the limited number of options. Whether you like fiction, mystery, or even poetry, they have most of the popular genres. They even have sections for cooking, childcare, and gardening, as well as a selection of greeting cards, puzzles and games, some large print books, and big children’s. They don’t have the number of books and other items that a larger store does, but they do have plenty of options and good reads. If you’re looking for a good book or know someone who might like one as a gift, then it’s worth checking out if you are in the area. If you are closer to a larger bookstore such as Barnes and Noble than that’s probably your best bet, but if you’re shopping at Kroger or any of the other nearby Madeira businesses then it might be worth your time to come in and look for something grab from The Bookshelf.
