This is one of those throw back dime store shops that actually has really nice gifts, little bits and trinkets, beautifully made specialty line greeting cards and even a post office to boot. Not having a post office nearby, I’ve often used this one to send off little packages to my niece and nephew across the country. I’ve easily been able to find cute Halloween or Valentine’s cards, stickers and special gifts: glittery beaded rings in a jar at the register, charms, paper dolls, candy. There are also a lot of higher end items in candle lines, glass, fabric purses, stationary, and lots of educational and kids’ toys and puzzles. My favorite purchases have always been the beautiful art greeting cards I haven’t seen outside of a much pricier card line or other store. Many could easily be framed. Most items throughout The Villager are at a higher price point given the general Mariemont location, but also of good quality. Two FYIs, the post office has always only taken cash and the store isn’t open evenings even on the weekends, which seems like a perfect time to be open and browse as people are walking through the square before and after dinner/ice cream/a movie.

It’s SOOOO girly. I guess to a certain extent, that’s to be expected of this gift card and party favor store, but I do wish the buyers would get some masculine advice. Everything seems to be for women and kids. For instance, the books. Where are the books? Oh yeah, there’s waldo. One nice thing is that there’s a post office in the store. That’s great for the people who live in this village since it’s pretty much walking distance from any residence. Oh well, if you need to get a birthday card in a hurry, this is a pretty ok place to get them.

I like that there is a small post office in the Villager. Which is located in the back. I’ve walked around and scoped the place out and noticed unique items. I’ve purchased greeting cards that I could not find at krogers or walmart. You just have to stop by and browse. The staff is very friendly!

Talk about RANDOM… nothing you need, all sorts of things you want. I walked in just to see what was in here, walked out with a wish list from the mrs. about a half page long. thanks a lot villager, with your UNIQUENESS and STYLE…

The sign in the window of The Villager says«Variety(and) Books» but the key word is definitely variety. The Villager has just tons and tons of miscellaneous merchandise, and it’s in a great location in historic Mariemont. The store has tons of Vera Bradley products, OKA b. and Robeez footwear, stuffed animals, toys and baby items, picture frames, school and office supplies, balloons(and a helium machine), hand and body moisturizers, Beanie Babies, Webkinz, ornaments, candy, 2009 calendars, luggage and luggage tags, stationery, greeting cards, and much, much more. I walked up to the store thinking it was a kid’s bookstore, but in reality there are a ton of items for all ages, and not even that many books. I’ve noticed many random shops around town that have a small selection of greeting cards, but The Villager has a lot(almost as many as a grocery store), and most of them are really good compared to the many stupid ones we typically see on the shelves. There really is so much that The Villager offers it’s hard to even describe it all, hence the above listing of many of their items. It’s a great place to find a gift for kids and adults, plus the greeting cards are right there to compliment the gift. They also have a 50-percent off section in the middle of the store, so you can definitely find some good deals. I highly recommend coming to Mariemont period, and if you can make it in before 5:30, you should definitely check out the Villager.
