I liked the atmosphere. The bartender on the night I was there was kind of rude and surly. We only stayed an hour or so. The money safe was cool!

I am not the biggest fan of Mount Lookout Square, but I would much prefer The Stand to Millions or even MLT. Between the pool tables, shuffle board, and dance floor — there’s a little somethin’ for everyone. I most recently chilled at a seat at the bar for the night, but I’ve also gone when I’m ready to busta move on the dance floor. There’s even a DJ to take requests, so you KNOW I’m all over that. Plus, you can’t go wrong at a bar where a Hollywood movie(Ides of March) has been filmed… Not to mention, one that starred George Clooney AND Ryan Gosling. Yum.

This was my number one place to go every weekend last year. It has great DJs, friendly bartenders, and great atmosphere. It’s a fun place to party and dance, but it’s also a great place to just grab a drink with a friend, play pool or shuffleboard and relax in the square.

When you walk into the Stand you can immediately tell it is a 4EG bar, and that is a good thing! 4EG does a fantastic job of making sure their establishments are clean, polished and that everyone has a good time. When you walk in it feels a little strange because its a mixture of a club, a lounge, a bar, and there are also pool tables. I love all of the red accents and dim lighting the place is very sexy. Their drinks are super cheap and they always have great specials. We got the beer of the month for only $ 3 bucks and it was KONA. Really great. I’m not the biggest fan of Mt. Lookout and the clientele here just wasn’t my crowd. I probably wouldn’t yell out let’s all go to the Stand tonight, but it we happened to be in Mt. Lookout this would def be my first choice.

Upon arriving at The Stand on a recent Friday night, I was a little bit overwhelmed. The Stand has a lounge area in the front, with a small dance floor and a DJ playing very loud music, a pool table, a bar with televisions, and a back area that can apparently be rented out. So there was a lot going on. My friends and I grabbed drinks and posted up in the lounge area. We ended up getting pretty drunk fairly quickly(and cheaply) and had a good time. I’m not really big on the bars in Mt. Lookout Square, but out of all of them, I’ve had the best time here. I hear that it’s a good place to hit for happy hour, so I may have to check that out and see how different the atmosphere is on a weeknight.

Previously a bank, The Stand offers a neatly remodeled interior(with the infamous vault door in the scene) complete with pool table, dance floor, lounge area, etc. This bar/lounge offered a pretty good time, but the best part was the amazing prices for the drinks; they have some killer deals! The Stand offers a nice place to have a cocktail and unwind, especially for those within the area(or just had some bangin’ sushi from across the street.)

A number of my friends live in Mt. Lookout so The Stand has been a starting/meeting point on a number of nights as there typically is not a cover charge there. The crowd is typically the mid-twenties and early thirties preppy scene. Typically, a DJ is spinning while some dance, some play pool, and everyone is drinking. Not somewhere I would plan an evening around, but definitely a place to chat and grab a few drinks.

Never been to this location and have not ventured out to the Mt Lookout Area but had a blast. My friend and I decided to give it a go on a Saturday Night. We walked in around 9:30PM and the place was not very busy. We ordered an Bells(Oberon) and Miller Lite(their Kentucky Bourbon Ale was out ;-(). We sat and talked and noticed at 10PM when the people starting shoing up in droves. It was a fun crowd, good DJ(music was not overpowering). The Interior: Clean, a funky wall paper that was dark brown — I could not determine if I was in the 70’s or the 20’s but had a good vibe. They have a couple of pool tables which made it a lot of fun. The Bar: Full Bar but limited liquors. I am sure they could make you the main drinks but just be prepared to not get a specialty drink if it is unusual. Limited taps — this is not the Pub or similar bar on the Levee but had some good beers. Stella — Guinness — Kentucky Bourbon Ale — and Bells Oberon come to mind. The Vibe: Quiet early where you can watch sports, play pool, listen to music, or just chat. As the night progresses, it appears the party will start. A good time — I will check it out again.

I used to love The Stand when I was a 25 year old alcoholic party girl. Now, it just makes me sad. If you want to get hit on by a bunch of popped collars, by all means, head to The Stand. Also, if you want to feel like an old lady at 30, this would be a great place to go. I have to admit this is still one of the least disgusting places in Mt. Lookout. MLT’s and Million’s make it look like a diamond in the rough. However, I try to avoid all places douche and skank, and that eliminates The Stand. I imagine it might not be as bad during happy hour time, but for a nighttime bar spot, no thanks.

I went to The Stand last Saturday based on the recommendation of a friend who praised their quiet atmosphere. Unfortunately I think they had been going mostly during the week because that description was far from accurate. There was a DJ playing not great music very loudly the whole time making it impossible to talk which I think clashed with the overall look and décor of the bar. It had a dark intimate feel to it with lots of seating and small tables. I just wish the atmosphere had matched that. Maybe I’ll give it a try during the week and see if that changes my mind.

There is now no cover on any night of the week! This is a huge plus because one of my biggest pet peeves is paying cover at bars. The shuffleboard in the back is really fun and less embarrassing than pool for us. They generally have unique beers on tap and a very good selection of liquor, particularly flavored vodka if that’s your thing. The bartenders are friendly and offer samples of beers on tap if you’ve never had it before. The crowd is generally in their 20’s and friendly. I have met many interesting people here and have also never been disappointed in people-watching here(I’m looking at you, girl grinding on the pool table desperately seeking male attention). Last summer they had half-price drinks until midnight. I hope they bring this back as it was a huge draw for my friends and I to come to the Stand. The only downside is parking. It can be very difficult on the weekend if you don’t happen to luck into a spot in the lot on the square.

Good news, NOMORECOVERCHARGE to get in! If you’re trying to stay local or stuck in Mt. Lookout square, The Stand is by far your best choice. The doosh factor of millions of doods and MLdoods(for non locals I’m referring to Millions and MLT’s) is not nearly as present at The Stand. By far the best beer selection in the square(you must try Loose Cannon on draft). The place is laid back with tiny bits of hipster and yuppie here and there but not too much. The shuffleboard is a nice plus for me since I’m not into pool. Prices are nice and if you’re really concerned about that they always have $ 2 bottles of highlife. Bartenders are experienced and efficient. Nothing to go out of your way for but if you’re in the area it’s relatively an oasis in a desert of doosh bag bars.

Pretty good bar, but in my opinion The Stand isn’t anything special. Drinks? Check. Pool? Check. TV’s? Check. Seating? Check. But… there’s no reason for me to come back. I can find places like The Stand anywhere in Cincinnati. I guess if you live in Mt. Lookout this is THE place to be, by comparison to other more college-y bars, but I didn’t get any«wow» factor. Just okay.

I definitely like this bar quite a bit. My friends and I have reserved the back area a few times and it’s been a good time of pool and shuffleboard. The atmosphere is very chill and laid back. A good place for the 20s age-group as that’s about the age of most of the people there. When I’m here I feel relaxed and not as if I’m at a college bar or a high-end yuppie one either. As people noted, make sure you get in a little earlier and avoid the cover.

Second place I hit up after flying in from the ATL. I love the look and feel of this place. Nice place to drink, play some free shuffle board, and hang with good friends. Good casual atmosphere with reasonable prices. I wasn’t a fan of having to pay a cover to get in just to hear a dj play the hits. Would return, probably as long as the people I was going with don’t suck.

Normally, I am not a big fan of hanging out in Mt. Lookout for drinking. The parking situation is less than desirable and it tends to be packed. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to meet some of my friends at the Stand. The layout is fairly open, with both standing room and seats along the wall so you don’t feel like you are packed into some hole. The drink selection is about the same for most trendy bars with the most common craft beers on tap. The back room can be rented for private parties, so that does tend to make the area around the bar a little more crowded. I didn’t get the chance to play shuffleboard or pool, so I will be definitely be hitting that up the next time.

Love the shuffleboard table in the back, but hate having to dodge the pool players. It felt very high school reunion-esque when I was there, although that’s probably because I’m not from here and it was xmas eve eve, so everyone was back in town for the holidays. I did enjoy the music and the long wraparound couches in the front. Reading the other reviews, I don’t think it’s worth paying a cover to get into.

My favorite place to hang out in Mt. Lookout for sure and also one of my favorite bars in the city. The Stand has a good mix of casual bar atmosphere areas where you can relax and hang out but also a lively night scene on the weekends if that’s what you’re looking for. Well-stocked bar for mixed drinks but they also embrace the craft beer movement and have lots of great craft beers rotating on draft and in bottles. Prices are very fair and there are frequently great happy hour specials or other specials on random nights.

Awesome hang out for twenty-somethings. A dance floor, a DJ, shuffleboard, a kitschy vibe, and a bartender who knows his stuff. What more do you need? The jukebox is very hipsterish. Be sure to ask the bartender(Greg) for his famous espresso shots! The place was busy but not crowded… the perfect spot for Saturday night.

If this place weren’t so far out of the way from my house it’d be in my top 5 favorite bars in town. Really chill atmosphere, cool art deco wallpaper and fixtures, great jukebox, decent beers on tap, friendly bartenders. Basically: «Chill vibe, brah!» Like every bar on Mt. Lookout Square on the weekends this place becomes a knob-fest and they charge a freakin’ cover. On a weekday when all the yuppies are at home watching«So You Think You Can Dance» it’s one of the coolest places in town.
