Used to be a Luby’s fan. This one started out disappointing, improved quite a bit, and now is incredibly disappointing again. Tonight is not the first time I’ve gotten dirty dishes there, but there is little doubt it will be the last. I can handle mediocre service, and even mediocre food, but not dirty dishes. I was given the excuse that the water is hard and sometimes they forget to treat it, causing the dishes to get water spots. Yeah, maybe, but a) that’s no excuse and not acceptable to say to a customer, and b) these were not water spots. It was food, smeared around the rim of a glass. And to top it off, the water in the bathroom did not work, so there was no way to wash hands. Sooooo, are the employees taking time to find another way to wash their hands? I hope.

Good food. I was skeptical about the food being hot under the lamps with out a steam table. But the food was hot and good. The waitstaff were good about coffee refils.

We just enjoyed a very good meal. Baked almondine, cabbage and fried okra for me and a healthy portion of roast beef, mashed potatoes and greenbeans for my husband. Tasty food at a reasonable price.

Say what you will about lubys, but their premium salad is the best deal in town! Huge salad with chicken(blackened, roasted or other) full of veggies for $ 6.99.

This cafeteria has good days and bad. Too often, the food is cold by the time we sit down to eat. The menu seldom varies — if one eats there frequently, it can become quite boring. The Conroe location does not have the quality that the Woodlands Luby’s has. Management does not seem interested in hearing complaints. I’ve eaten at Luby’s cafeterias for 40 years, and have seen it sadly go downhill in the past 5 years.

Argh! Nice looking food selection on the buffet line, but SALTY! I mean, OVERLOADEDWITHSALT. My spouse and I are not on a salt reducing diet, but even so, we tend to minimize the use of extra salt. But wow, here you have no choice because they add a TONOFEXTRASALT to the food?! And since this is a restuarant catering to older people, many of who are indeed on blood pressure medication and need to control their daily salt, this is ridiculous! CLUE: IFYOUDON“T LIKE A TONOFEXTRASALTINEVERYTHINGYOUEAT, then AVOID this Luby’s restuarant!

One word describes this place– AWFUL! Went around 4pm & got the LuAnn Platter. The chicken-fried steak was the last one in the pan and I should have known it was going to be bad and it was. The breading was falling off and tasty gummy. The meat cold and full of grisel. One bite and I had to spit it out. The okra was so soggy and unedible. The mashed potatoes full of hard chunks. The wheat roll tasted bitter and tough. So disgusted I just left knowing I will never be back.

I guess we came too late(8:20). The entrée I wanted did not look appealing because it had been out too long. I selected meat loaf & it was fine. All of the staff made us feel welcome. It is a good place to go for a home style cooked meal. It is kept clean & we like the looks of the place. It is in a safe upscale neighborhood. We will continue coming here even though it is a 20 minute drive.

Good food, great prices. Southern dishes done cafeteria-style with healthy food options and standard fried favorites(i.e. CFS, CFC, FC). I have been to the Mason Road and Kingwood Luby’s. Both locations have good food but I like the food at Cinco Ranch better. It seems tastier and fresher and deserves an extra star in the rating. We arrived after church at 12:40 on a Sunday. They were out of the Salmon Manager Special and fried chicken, but there were so many other entrées, we each had something that we liked. My wife ate the chicken fried chicken and my daughter had the chicken pot pie and they both enjoyed their meals. I had the roasted half chicken and delicious stuffing, but also liked the jalapeño cornbread and tasty chess pie. Overall the sides are good, but some need a bit more salt and pepper. So for the Unilocal haters… let’s not forget this is a Luby’s. Don’t expect the best service in the world here. You serve your own food, but the wait staff will bring you drink refills, so expect what you would find at a Souper Salad or another cafeteria. Our server was a French lady who brought us refills and take-out boxes. She was very nice and accommodating. Better than I expected. We will return.

We went there around 3:30PM for a late lunch. Most of the food looked as they were left over from the lunch nothing looked fresh. We should have left but decided to eat since several of us were very hungry. Big mistake! We got sick one hour after we ate. Throwing up and terrible stomach ache. I strongly suggest to stay away from this place.

Service in line is awful. Need better training. Spinach juice all over my fish is a no go. Mac and cheese is inconsistent. Bummer. Managers need to make some changes in training and kitchen as well. Sad because ppl were super excited to have one out here ! Waiter want tips but booths are aways dirty. Need faster moving wait staff.

The wait staff is horrible. Be prepared to go get back in line and get your own drink refill every time. Good luck! Fish Almondine was raw. Also, had a politically biased news station on every tv in there on kids eat free night.

There is something about this location that is not appealing. The atmosphere looks really nice, however, it just does not feel the way a cafeteria should. Cannot put my finger on it. The food is ok. Overall prefer the Mason Rd. location. For a really great experience try Cleburn cafeteria.

Some good things and some not so good. Went on Saturday for a late lunch, and that was probably why some of the food was cold and not so fresh. Might be better to eat here when things are busy and fresh food is coming out of the kitchen more often. Kids eat free on Wednesday and Saturday, so this is a good place for families. As stated, the entrees were barely warm and had been sitting out for a while. The food lacked any type of seasoning. Nothing was bad, but nothing was awesome. The chicken fried chicken breast was good, as was the roast beef. The chicken strips were tough and cold. An order of fries that was promised to be out in 5 minutes took over 15 minutes. They came out hot and fresh, but too late to be enjoyed as part of the meal. Veggies were warm, but flavorless.

They could do so much better. Who still serves canned green beans? No one! Please get with the times and serve healthy and tasty food. Get fresh green beans and steam or sauté them. You need more alternatives to Mac and cheese and in this area the customers look for healthy choices. Please revamp vegetable selections. Add sweet potatoes and other healthier items. Please.

Nice atmosphere. but I think I will go to the Mason location from now on. The kitchen staff didn’t seem knowledgeable about their items. For side dishes/veges I asked them what items contain meat/pork since I can’t eat anything that contains pork/meat. They told me none of the items contain those products. One of the items I got was the beans. when I got to my table and took a wiff of the beans, I could tell it was made with lard. I asked the waiter and he confirmed and brought me some corn instead.

I personally like this location. It’s close to the house and is always clean. Expectations should only be for a traditionally cafeteria style spread. Food is average, nothing a little salt and pepper can’t fix. Last 2 visits have been pleasant with friendly staff to assit. At this location you will get the typical Luby’s experience with a modernized feel. I will definitely be back.

I completely agree with the other reviewers — excellent location and interior, however the food is not good. We’ve been three times since it opened a few months ago. Each time we’ve been disappointed with the food. Even my two year old turned the food away last time. After our third trip, my wife asked me to pick-up food from the Mason Road location from now on. We’ve always had a good experience there, plus it has a drive-thru window.

New Luby’s attached to a Fuddruckers. Very clean and spacious but was a little disappointed in the food at this location. Corn was bland, the mashed potatoes were the consistency of grits… didn’t have that nice chunk of potato goodness, and others that had the mac ‘n cheese… it looked very runny. Hope they improve because I really enjoy having a Luby’s nearby!
