After my wife paid about $ 75…I find it to have been one of the worst pizza I ever had. The integrity of the place has consistently gone downhill since change of ownership. My family has gone there more than 15yrs however never again will we step foot in this place. Both pizzas were burnt, the crust around the edges were somewhat black and hard, I can’t believe the cooks actually sent this one out knowing full well the pizza was bad and poorly cooked. Towards the center the dough was chewy and the toppings and fillings were not up to par nor spread evenly around, some parts were thin and some parts looked like it was just dumped into the pizza and this was suppose to be the deep double crust etc etc… it pretty much looked like everything was just tossed and throw in the oven and forget about… if I could rate it no stars I would… hate to say it but another great place gone downhill… bad slow service, lazy cooks, uncaring no integrity staff… never going back!#@

YUMMY. No skimping on the cheese or toppings. Delicious, and we will be coming back. I am very impressed!

Decided to try this place after seeing it on Good Day Sacramento, because the stuffed pizza sounded so good! We got a medium stuffed crust Whistle Stop combo and a salad, which ended up being $ 30 after our 10% discount for checking in! The cashier was very nice and made sure to open our order to make sure it was correct, which it was! Salad was basic with parm cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers, but pretty large for the price! The pizza we LOVED the flavor! For all of the cheese, I was surprised at how well the pizza held together! And I’m a crust lover, and cheese stuffed crust was DELISH! It fed 4 adults and we would definitely order here again!

Pizza is overpriced and service is SLOW. The pizza(Chicago style) was good but not worth what they charge or the wait. Go to Rosati pizza or Chicago Fire for deep dish.

Definitely replicates Chicago deep dish pizza. It is to die for! The cheesy garlic bread pizza stuff is amazing too. The young girls who work here were really sweet and helped me carry everything to my car, and the customer service is great. If you’re reading Unilocal reviews right now to try and decide between this place and one of the chain retailers like round table or mountain mikes, definitely choose this place. So classic and delicious. Everything was perfect.

Love the concept– family made pizza. Love supporting local owners and small businesses. Cool tablecloths. Just wasn’t impressed w/the pizza. Ordered a deep dish gourmet veggie– artichoke hearts, mushrooms, green onions and tomatoes. The sauce lacked the depth and richness I crave from deep dish(like Zachary’s pizza in the Bay). The toppings were skimpy, and the crust was soggy. Loads of cheese though. If you like cheese, you’ll probably love it. I asked for easy cheese. Silly, since deep dish is mainly cheese. $ 26.15 for a large(fed about 3 – 4 people). The side salad was great though– $ 3.80 for a large, shareable, fresh salad. Standard lettuce, tomato, big chunks of fresh red onion. Really good salad, and impressed w/the price. Ordered the bread sticks that were recommended, again, loads of cheese. If you love cheese, this is your place. Doesn’t hold a shake to Zachary’s(our gold standard). Happy to try it, since it was highly rated on Unilocal.Just wanted to add my two cents. Cashier was friendly and helpful. A big hole in the ceiling didn’t add to the ambiance though. Sorry Alonzo’s. I’m sure you have a loyal following.

Incredibly delicious. Surprisingly great every time I go. Wide variety of appetizers and sides. A bit pricy for pizza but well worth it!!!

I finally had the opportunity to dine here for lunch. Normally I would walk pass and they did not open till later in the day. Well, all I can say it was worth the wait! Even though I ordered the personal pan pizza, it was a really good small pizza. Lots of cheese but not too much, enough pepperoni’s and the perfect crust. But it didn’t stop there, the customer service was amazing with positive energy and very accommodating. Although, I initially ordered my food to go and because the hospitality was so great I ended up dining in. I definitely plan on going back, possibly with my pizza loving friends I look forward to their feedback when I bring them in. In the meantime I will be back for lunch. :)

I wish the 45 minutes we drove out to eat this amazing pizza had paid off. They didn’t put our order in and we waited at the table for over an hour. Glad they refunded the money but not at all impressed. Never again.

«Lonny’s» Pizza is the best deep dish pizza I’ve ever had, anywhere. I married a man from Citrus Heights and he took me here the first time we visited his parents. We’ve never lived in Sacramento, but every time we’ve visited over the past 13 years, the one thing we’re sure to do is head to Alonzo’s. My husband actually worked here in high school, which is how we found it, as it’s not in a great location. But don’t let that deter you — it is DELICIOUS. It’s the sauce, the crust, and the freshest ingredients. It’s hard to explain why it’s so damn good, but trust me on this. The salads are also great — large bowl of iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, onions, fresh parmesan(the best part) and and olives(I think) with homemade dressing. Whether you order in or take out, TRYIT… you’ll be loyal, too. Get enough for leftovers. You’ll want to have it again the next day! I recommend the combination with jalapenos.

Ok, first off this place is WAY to expensive for what you get. Their medium pizza are most places small. The only reason why I even tried this place is because a friend of mine raved about it, but he must have hit his head on something. The pizza is not that good and again, it’s way over priced. I mean, just drive on over to Auburn Blvd a couple of miles and go to Village Pizza and you can pick up a pizza that is much better and for half the price!

Love this place more than anything in the world. My husband and I always get the Chicago stuffed pepperoni and garlic pizza with 2 sides of garlic cheese twists(we aren’t sharing!). We come here at least 1 time a month, order a large pizza, eat as much as we can for the evening, then pack up the rest and eat it throughout the week. This place is seriously incredible in terms of taste. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it!

My daughter wanted deep dish pizza so I Unilocaled best pizza in my area. I read the reviews for Alonzo’s pizza and decided to try it. We are so glad we went. It is a little pricey for a 4 item pizza, but worth the money. The crust was so good. The best I have ever tasted. We ended up putting white sauce on half, and red sauce on the other. The white sauce is so amazing. When we go again, we will order the pizza with all white sauce. The service was good and they came to the table to make sure we got everything we ordered. Then they came back again to make sure everything tasting good. It does take a good 30 minutes to get a deep dish pizza served, so don’t expect to go in and have your pizza in ten minutes.

The original owner, Lonnie, retired and sold the business maybe a year or so ago, I think. I was afraid there would be changes to the delicious pizza and calzones I have been eating for the past 30+ years. Luckily, nothing seems to have changed in the quality of the food. On my last visit, my calzone was a bit smaller and a bit more«done» than usual, but not sure if that a the new typical size or an anomaly. The new owners did some nice updating in the dining area and bathroom.

More like 3.5 stars. The pizza was good, got the one w potato, it was good and different. The margarita tomatoes were a bit weird… but still yummy overall. Ranch was A-OK and I’m pretty picky. The wait was pretty long, which resulted in soggy wings. But everyone ate it!

Oh my! Awesome pizza! I’ll be driving 30 mins one way, just to have their pizza! We’ll worth it! Crust is delish! All fresh ingredients! The garden salad could be a meal in itself or easily split between 2! The garlic twists put Round Table to SHAME! Small place and good for families. I will be back several times! You must GONOW! :-)

So I was scrolling on Facebook and saw a picture of some Chicago style pizza, and I was wondering can I get some Chicago style pizza in Sacramento? Turns out yes you can!!! This place is hands down amazing! I can’t find nothing wrong with it! I also got a buy one get one free deal! Even if I didn’t get that deal i’d still love it!!! The owner was very nice and inviting, and the atmosphere was wonderful! Can’t wait to come back!

Have been looking for a stellar pizza place since I moved to Sacramento, After reading all the fantastic Unilocal reviews we decided to give this place a try. Ordered a large half Hawaiian sunset and half all meat. Also purchased an order of the garlic sticks. Very generous portion of garlic sticks. They arrived as an appetizer and are so delicious it took serious self control to stop eating them to save room for the pizza. Pizza was fresh and super cheesy. Plenty of toppings. We had leftovers to take home and they warmed up well in a pan. Whenever I’m craving fantastic pizza this will be the place I visit!

Continuing my pursuit for the«go-to» pizza for me. Tonight, for take out, we ordered the Sun Toms pizza and Garlic Twists. Way too much food for two. We could have made an entire meal for two of just the Garlic Twists; rich, warm, garlic-ee, stretchy deliciousness! It’s a good size order for the minor $ 4.80. Our take out box had oozed out crusties of cheese and garlic to pick at and enjoy. Yah, these things are good. Alonzo’s has a few different crust styles and I’m not hip on Chicago Style so not entirely sure with what crust our Sun Toms was prepared. I guess is was the Original crust since it didn’t look much like a deep dish style. A red sauce topped with a healthy load of mozzarella; sprinkled with sausage, lite feta, and sun dried tomato. Interesting combination. In my opinion, less mozzarella. I wasn’t a fan of the crust. The edges(my favorite) were fine bottom of the body of the crust was almost cardboard like and took some effort to bite through. For me, less cheese and a crisper cook on the bottom. I don’t fault Alonzo’s — I’d expect them to appeal the mass and not to John’s specifics. I love pizza(at least I think I do) and pizza just does not love me. Maybe I dream a pizza fantasy that doesn’t(or shouldn’t) exist. I must be much more finicky than most. I have had a tough time finding just the right pizza. I like Alonzo’s and I like the atmosphere inside. Cool table coverings; booths and open tables. The service was friendly. Now, if I could just figure out what my «go-to» pizza should be.

Alonzo’s Pizza Depot has been on my radar for a few months, since it is in the same parking lot as the Aroma of Europe bakery that my family and I frequently visit. We would have tried it sooner had it not been for the limited hours of operation(4 – 9 pm). Since there is absolutely no pizza place in Folsom that is halfway decent(including Chicago Fire), we didn’t mind taking the short drive out to Citrus Heights hoping to find a hidden gem. The restaurant is small, and you need to go up to the counter to place your order. The staff seemed nice, but it didn’t seem like anyone was working with a sense of urgency. Our order took about 40 minutes for an order of twists and a large pizza. In my opinion, the pizza we tried was just«OK». Perhaps it was our fault for not trying their deep dish pizza and opting for the original crust instead. The pizza came out with way too much sauce, and the cheese slid right off when we went to pick up a slice. On a positive note, the sausage they use on their pizza is delicious. Bottom line, I don’t think I would come back for the pizza alone. However, the reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 3 –is for the best garlic twists that I have ever tried in my life. Each twist is about a foot long, and the dough used is out of this world good. The bread was slightly crunchy on the outside but managed to stay pillow soft on the inside. There is just enough garlic to remind you that you will need a breath mint after, but not overpowering like some other places. **** Remember to check in on Unilocal to receive 10% off your bill ****
