Been going to Salon Maxx since they opened. Have been a client of Mai’s for about 20 years! Great customer service and helpful staff! She works hard to be on time, even when some clients arrive late for their appointments! Would definitely recommend!

Most horrible service ever! Mai is amzingly discorteous. After booking an appointment at 1230, she doesn’t even come out until 10 minutes after (BTW, there is no receptionist at this place). She comes out and with no apologies, says she will be 5 minutes later still. 5 minutes pass by and she wont even come out to beg your pardon! So disrespectful!

This was my first visit to Salon Maxx. I came because of all the great Unilocal reviews, and I was not disappointed. I went in to get my hair styled, and my stylist was Karen. We hit it off immediately. I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair styled/​cut and she nailed it. It’s always a pleasurable experience to get my hair washed by someone else, but she added in a scalp massage that had me über relaxed. The facility is lovely and spacious, with a calm atmosphere. The staff on site were all friendly and eager to please their clients. I’m absolutely returning for future cuts. They offer massages at a competitive rate as well, so I will be going back for that service as well. Thank you, Karen, for a great first experience. You are now MY stylist.

Called for a request of an appt to get nails done during my lunch break. Went in, and Mai approached me by the door. Super friendly! She spoke to me the whole time while getting my nails done. I know some ppl prefer silence, and sometimes I do. But I enjoyed talking to her. Very friendly, great person. Did my nails beautifully, in a timely manner got back to work just on time. Not just a nail salon, but hair salon well. Is recommend this place to anybody, I am a new customer but I will be coming back!

Really nice salon with a great neighborhood feel — everyone is so friendly and relaxed. Mai always fits me in and consistently does a great job on my acrylic nails… other staff have given my daughter regular manicures and they’re good, too.

I made an appointment spur of the moment, i wanted to change my hair before going on a birthday trip that weekend. I’d been calling other salons and not getting callbacks for days on end.
I called here and the owner handed me over to Laina who fit me in THAT day, I wanted an extremely layered cut, along with a color job.
She did awesome! I was totally happy and went on my trip with my new hair :)
The salon was extremely clean and everyone was talkative and nice.
I’m already planning my next visit (not spur of the moment) to get more highlights added in or a complete color change.
id like to add that i brought my son with me (he was 3 months old at the time) and had him sitting with me the entire time, Laina kept checking on him for me which was super sweet!

I made an appointment here before going on vacay. Needed a mani and pedi, plus a haircut. I had a coupon for discount on hair and nails, and although it had expired the previous day, they were kind enough to honor it, saying the post office had mailed them out late to begin with. Nice, clean salon, nice people., but sort of a cold, wierd vibe.
The hair stylist, Laina, was great, and gives a good haircut. She listens to what you want, and executes it as well as humanly possible. Reasonable price for a good job. No complaints with the hair component.
Went to the Pedicure station next. This is disaster… the «premium» pedi is no more than a foot soak, a very, very cursory foot rub and almost non-​existant callous rub. A tiny spurt of lotion and for $ 5 extra, a tiny bit of exfoliant rubbed hurriedly on the feet. There is very minmal lef massage or rub here at all. The joke is that they call this «premium.» The girl who did my pedicure AND manicure was «new» and boy, could I ever tell. She spent an equal amount of time rubbing polish OFF my skiin, and the polish on the nails was applied no better than a ten year old budding cosmetologist. Awful job.
The worst, and most frustrating part was the «gel manicure.» The girl barely touched my cuticles, and the nail beds were ill jprepared for the gel. She did not push the bottom of the cuticle back at all, and when finished, my nails looked as though they NEEDED A JOB„ rather than just having the job done. When I examined the nails closely at home, I saw that there was polish on my skiin on eight of the ten fingers, and the gel was lumpy and on some edges, she had not covered with gel or polish. I was almost in tears, having to be at the airport within a few hours.
I called the manager, Mai, I believe, and complained. She said she would personally do the job at my convenience at no charge, which I do appreciate. I think, however, I’m going to pass on Salon Maxx. I really didn’t like the cold, rather bizarre aura of the place. I feel like I totally wasted the forty dollars on the mani /​pedi and TWO DAYS LATER, MOST OF THE GEL HAD LIFTED AND WAS PEELING OFF WHEN I WASHED MY HANDS.
hONESTLY, the most poor quality work I’ve ever had done.
Go somewhere else.

Salon Maxx is a full salon. I have been going to Laina to have my hair highlighted and cut for years. I followed her from her old salon. Mai is wonderful, makes sure she greets everyone at the door. I would highly recommend Salon Maxx, its a great atmophere too.

I went to this salon for a haircut. I usually go to another stylist but he is downtown and with my busy schedule I decided to give this place a try since it is down the street from my house. The woman named Liana cut my hair. She was nice but did not do a very good job on my haircut. I was a walk in and she had a person in her chair when I got there. I should have know when she did not seem all that enthused about cutting my hair next. She basically told me her opinion and if I did not like that then she didn’t need to cut my hair. Despite this I still let her cut my hair. She said she had many years of experience and since I’m not a hair stylist I said okay to her suggestions. My hair wasn’t horrible but if I wanted it to turn out how it did I could have gone to supercuts and paid half the price. Overall not horrible but definitely won’t be getting my hair cut here again.

With me being a Hair Stylist, before meeting Trang I always had problems with my nails lifting and fungus because my hands are constantly in water… But for the last 15 years Trang has taken great care of my nails and I have been fungus free… She’s the best ever!!! .
Hands Down Mai is the best around in doing eyelash extension! Everyone think they’re my natural eyelashes… Salon Maxx is the place to go…

I have been going to Mai for years to have my nails done and Laina has been doing my hair FOREVER. I wouldn’t think of going to anyone else. I have followed both from shop to shop and think the new location is amazing! The décor is beautiful and and they have found a wonderful blend of professionals to offer a great service. I strongly recommend you give them a try.

I have been a client of Lainas for many years, her service is excellent and she listens to what the client wants. I wouldn’t think of going to anyone else. The new saloon is beautiful with all the extras. Great massage chairs for the pedicures, well lit area where they do the nails and a nice open area for all the hair stations. Mai and her sister are a great team for Laina.

WOW! This place is gorgeous! I love the atmosphere, I have gotten my hair colored and cut by Laina Hicks and I honestly can’t wait for my next appointment. I have not tried the Manicure/​Pedicure services yet but there were a few women there when I was that seemed more than pleased.
I have already recommended my mom (who has gone in) and my best friend.
If you go in for a hair appointment I HIGHLY recommend Laina, she has worked miracles with my hair and has suggested things that I would have never thought of before and thanks to her very experienced knowledge I discovered I was allergic to something in my previous used products.

Don’t know what the last two reviewers saw but this place is amazing! I took my girlfriend here to treat her and she had her nails done by Mai, the owner. Mai was very friendly and helpful and kept you smiling and laughing. She did tell me off a story that the previous day she had to kick a rude client out because the client was complaining and yelling and letting her 3 year old son run to a candy jar they had and almost knocked it over while trying to get a piece and when Mai helped him get one and asked his mother but she screamed at Mai. I am guessing it is the review from May 9 above as I took my girlfriend there on May 10^th. The prices are moderate and they have a 20% Grand Opening special right now so that is great. Ladies that work there are very clean and efficent and great at what they do. Made my girlfriend even more beautiful and I thought that wasn’t even possible.

I don’t understand the negative comments, but go figure, some people just do that.
I have been a client of Mai’s for 16 years now and consider her my good friend as well. I can say with all honesty that she is the best in her craft and so is her sister, who also works in the salon. They are both professional and very nice and make you feel welcome. They have lots of faithful clients, some of which travel quite a distance to have their nails done by them. With so many nail salons out there, they really are a dime a dozen, but not here. They take their time with you and I have NEVER observed any pedicure/​manicure that took under 45 minutes to an hour to complete, so I would take the negative review about a 10 minute pedicure with a grain of salt. I love the fact that I have Mai as my only manicurist and I don’t have to wonder each time Who will do my nails.
The simple fact is that you can’t go wrong here! I get loads of compliments from strangers every day on my nails – even from men! I can’t tell you how many times i have referred people to Mai. I will forever be her client, as long as she will have me!
The salon is truly beautiful as well! It is clean, modern, and inviting! Please do yourself a favor and try Salon Maxx, you will be hooked!

Salon Maxx is a Top Notch Full Service Salon and Mai is absolutely amazing!
I had salon skipped for years with several horrible experiences. I have scars from wax burns, due to the wax being too hot. Nail fungus, and foot fungus due to the use of unclean tools. I have been going to Mai for over 10 years now following her from the old salon (Beauty Zone).
The cost of service is a little higher this is because everyone receives a nail kit with their own nail file, nail buffer and pumice stone if you get a Pedicure.
The old saying is true «you get what you pay for».
