I used to frequent the subway at Sunrise Mall since it’s near work, but due to recent changes in their polices/management/employee attitudes I started going to this location instead. Unfortunately, I will no longer be going to this Subway, either. One of the great things about this location is that they were very easy going about serving breakfast all day — personally I like some of those offerings better than the«cheap» subs Subway offers through its various promotions, so this was a huge plus. However, after placing my order and waiting to be rung up by an older lady who I believe is one of the owners, I won’t be back because of the way I was treated. While we were waiting for my sandwich to be wrapped, I told her what I ordered — a foot long Steak, Egg, and Cheese on flatbread. I told her that’s what I ordered but after glancing at me she simply stared at my sandwich for about 10 – 15 seconds, as if she was hesitating. I repeated my order — it was a footlong steak, egg, and cheese on flatbread. After pausing for an uncomfortable period of time, she rang me up and told me my total, which seemed a little high. The sign posted said footlong breakfast sandwiches were $ 5.50(this had a clear«replacement» sticker over whatever the printed price was before, no problem there) and I asked for their $ 1 Iced Tea special. She told me my total was over $ 8. When I asked why it was so high, she told me I had a Steak and Cheese and a drink so that was the price. I corrected her and told her I had a Steak, Egg, and Cheese — which was $ 5.50 and the $ 1 Iced Tea. She insisted that I didn’t have a Steak, Egg and Cheese and that since I had a Steak and Cheese it was more expensive. This went back and forth several times and I finally told her I just wouldn’t come back — finally the owner(?) came over and tried to apologize and said that they would«take care of me» but that the Steak, Egg, and Cheese was«more expensive» than the other sandwiches. Now in my experience, Subway has NEVER ‘tiered’ the pricing of their breakfast offerings — 6 inches are one price, footlongs are another… but that’s it. I pointed out, as I had to his wife(?) that their sign said $ 5.50 for ALL their footlong breakfast sandwiches, and he said that wasn’t the case, mentioned something about they would correct it, etc. Long story short, she didn’t say anything after that, darkly counted my change and dropped my cup onto my tray, didn’t give me my receipt, and that was that. While I really like Subway, their consistency is bad. Because they are franchised you can really take a gamble on the quality of the food and the service — especially when you get franchises where the owners are hovering at the register or in the background watching customers/employees and making sure no one is «cheating» them. But guys, c’mon. I’m getting sick of watching sandwich makers put like three leaves of spinach or breaking up one ring of onion onto my sandwich when I’m forking out 8 bucks for a footlong and a drink or a 6″ combo. Don’t tell me I can«ask for more» — don’t be stingy in the first place. They can’t really skimp on the meat being put on the sandwich so I feel like they do it on the condiments because they’re just a «mom and pop shop scraping by»… and I’m guessing the lady at the register got all cranky that I got veggies on my «breakfast» sandwich. From day one subway has always asked if I wanted any, and never charged for, vegetables(not avocado, veggies). That’s the only thing I could figure for why my steak, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich would suddenly become a dollar more expensive(and become a «Steak and Cheese»?)… if they want to put up a sign saying«veggies extra» for their breakfast sandwiches, or «steak is extra» for breakfast, or only serve breakfast during the regular hours or whatever, fine. I don’t care which one they choose to do. But I don’t appreciate it when someone, especially who was likely one of the owners, tells me I don’t know what I ordered then makes up excuses/mumbles some kind of explanation and then tells me «they’ll take care of me THIS time». It wasn’t my fault. I don’t fault anyone for wanting to make a buck/running they’re franchise how they want… cool, no problem. Just have it clearly posted and tell people up front. Please. I won’t be back.

There is one girl in there who does a great job and the owner is very nice. However the last time we went in there were two girls working there that were just awful. My husband ordered a club and got four slices of turkey and only one slice of ham. The girl who made my sandwich didn’t ask me anything. Just sort of stared at me. I didn’t get any mayo or mustard because of this. I’ve been in a lot of subway shops and they always prompt you especially for mayo and mustard so I just naturally never thought about it until I got in the car. When we went to check out our order was nearly $ 20 and I couldn’t figure out why it would be that much for two sandwiches. She went to slide our card and said«Oops, charged you for two foot longs instead of six inches». She went to correct it and it was still a bit high so my husband checked the receipt and she had charged us for one foot long and one six inch. She didn’t know how to fix it but the other girl did luckily and she grumpily did so then sent us on our way. Never once did either of them try to make up for it. Not sure if we will be returning to this spot.

I really should get something healthy, but here I go eating the meatball with provolone again. Sigh.
