Dirty restaurant, RUDE service, and watered down sauces. Boyfriend got food poisoning. Will never eat there again. Disgusting.

This was our first ever Mongolian BBQ experience and I was quite pleased all though I haven’t been anywhere else to compare. We went on a Saturday night and the place was full. We were greater promptly and told which table would be ours. We got in the long line and began choosing our ingredients. Everything was fresh and stocked. The line went by quickly. We got back to our table and our drinks were there along with soup, rice, and little fried wontons. The meal was delicious. I believe unlimited bowls was $ 11 per person. I only ate one as I will full half way through. Service was impressive for the amount of people eating. Our drinks were refilled promptly and the waitress was polite. We will be back And yes, the décor is outdated but the place is clean and the food is good. Works for me.

We love going here. It’s so yummy. We have been going here for years. I think I have been going here 14 years. I have always wished you could take some home.

The only Mongolian place we will go too. Love that they offer thick and thin noodles as our preference varies. Love that they have lots of veggie options, meet options and sauces. The service is not amazing but they move quick in there. We have been going here for 8 years and have tried many others — none compare.

Great food for the price and it’s all you can eat. I mean come on. Well it’s not the greatest food but it’s good enough. $ 11.25 for the weekends for adults is not bad. It sometimes nice to create what your going to eat the only other time you do that is in your home. The décor is ok but it’s really not why you come here.

Overall this place was fairly decent. I really have no complaints. Wasn’t too busy for a Thursday evening so that was nice.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to give his place a review. I’ve been coming here for over 7 years and I always have a great time. The staff is the just sweetest group of people ever. I usually go with my brother(we used to go 2 or 3 times a week) and they recognize us every time and always stop by to say hey and catch up. The noodles and ingredients are just the best. Yea they don’t have everything that all the other places have, but every Mongolian bbq place has different ingredients. This place however is like the Mongolian bbq ingredients and sauces greatest hits album featuring only the most popular ingredients and sauces. All the veggies are cut perfectly and they have the best combination of sauces. Another cool thing is that if you don’t like spicy food(like my daughter) they’ll rinse off the stove thing to make sure your noodles don’t pick up any spicy residue. I love this place so much. I bet if I added up everyday I’ve been here, it’d be a little over a year. This is like one of my favorite at places to hang out at with my brother and a surprisingly nice first casual date spot. I tried to be open minded and try all the other Mongolian bbq places around town. I’m sorry but they all suck. They either have a lame selection of veggies, sauces, or they’re disgusting and use spaghetti noodles instead. Just come here and never go anywhere else ever again

Mongo(Roseville) vrs The Mongolian BBQ(Citrus Heights) vrs. Sizzle(rocklin) I have tried them all… Scores are all out of 5 Atmosphere 4 The Mongolian BBQ 3 Sizzle 2 Mongo The Mongolian seemed more fitting as there was no pressure to get a bowl but it did lack instructions for a newbie, Sizzle has a lot of instructions especially from some guy maybe the owner but he sure involves himself into everybody’s business. Mongo pretty much on your own(which is not bad if you are a regular). Prices 3.5 The Mongolian BBQ 3 Mongo 2 Sizzle The mongolian and Mongo both are similar pricing but I give the edge to The Mongolian because they don’t double price you on Hot Tea… one tea with 2 cups is just one price… if you do this as Mongo/sizzle they will charge you for EACH cup. and they still give you ONE teapot all have refills but c’mon…four cups = 1.75 each… ridiculous for tea?! one teabag… please! although I will give credit to Mongo for having more buffet on sides you can grab… sizzle forget it… you get what they give you goodluck. Sauces 4.5 Mongo 4 The mongolian 1 Sizzle Mongo has the best in selections but one tweak here and there The mongolian can whip them. If Mongo gets rid of lobster sauce(as they did not have one day) then I would change my rating to 3.5 or 3. One thing is The mongolian their Vinegar sauce is so watered down I felt I just added spring water not vinegar… I did a test and added 7 spoonfuls of vinegar just to see if it tasted like vinegar at all… nothing no acid taste at all… they must be lying there… its water… probably the same for sugar… if I go again and its like that I will drop the rating here on them. More or less all the main sauces are at mongo and Mongolian… Sizzle is missing so many… its ridiculous… and that little man again comes to make sure you don’t not over use… but tries to say he is there to make sure you don’t put the hot stuff on… let it go guy… here is nickel for you to go away… Customer Service 3.5 Mongo 3.5 The Mongolian 2 Sizzle They are all pretty lousy… it really comes down to the nickel and diming you… sizzle needs to get the TSA like guy off your back. or the stare down if you go for seconds at sizzle… believe it is tough to get a second helping on busy days… I think they slow the process intentionally… cause no other place is that bottlenecked. Food /Meats 4.5 The Mongolian 4 Mongo 2 Sizzle The mongolian and Mongo are very close… but I give it to the mongolian for a wider selection of meats(lamb/turkey/chicken/pork/beef) Mongo(lamb(night)/Turkey(day)/Chicken/Beef). The mongolian gives selections on noodles too, and the veggies are the same at both.(love the cilantro). I do like Mongo gives at the after bowl is done if you want to add«spices/vinegar» where the mongolian is just sesame seed. Sizzle is a mess… lots of veggies but bowl is small and tough to fit anything… Mongo does let you go TWO bowl. Overall The Mongolian has the edge over Mongo and Sizzle might as well rename itself fizzle.

Best Mongolian bbq. Love that they have both thick and thin noodles. They have good sauces and despite what other reviews have said, you can watch the staff and see that they’re always cleaning. Their servers are very attentive your drink will always be full. They’ll clean the grill for people who are sensitive to spices, vegetarians, or peanut allergies.

OUTSTANDINGFOODANDSTAFF. Stopped by here again, and it continues to shine. Still the best mongolian food I’ve had. We drive here just for the food and staff. Who always work hard, and keep a clean make line. Always great food, and experience here. And reasonable on price. You will love this place.

I noticed a lot of comments regarding the décor but when I ate there last night, I had no issue with it. In fact, I was impressed how clean the place was. The décor wasn’t Martha Stewart Living but it was simple and pleasing to the eye. Pros: Food was very fresh and good. Even though it was less than an hour from closing time, all of the ingredient compartments were filled. Service was prompt and attentive. The fried wonton appetizers were yummy and the sesame roll was tasty as well(I would have preferred egg rolls however). The rice didn’t look impressive but after tasting it I was pleasantly surprised! It was very flavorful. As an added bonus, they let me take my leftovers home!(I always have a lot of leftovers as my eyes are bigger than my stomach)!! Cons: Too much water used in the cooking process. I followed their posted suggestions(even adding more based upon other reviews) and it still didn’t have the taste it should have. The bottom of the bowl had a lot of liquid in it and it was watery. This is the only reason I withheld the last star. I highly recommend eating here despite my only con. I will ask them to use less water net time and maybe sauce my bowl up even more!

On judgement of food alone, I have yet to find another Mongolian BBQ restaurant quite as satisfying. The ONLY reason I withheld the last star is the long overdue need of this place getting a remodel. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and the water stained walls and ceilings are hard to ignore until that first bite. Oh… But that first bite… It will release a torrent flood of merciful forgiveness for any criticism you’ve gathered prior to retrieving your first bowl. The waitresses are kind but the cooks seem to be mutes. They’ll nod and grunt at requests while the waitresses backfill their void with friendly checkups. Now there’s an art to filling up your bowl with the raw vegetables and meat to get the most for your money. While dinner times on week days allow unlimited returns for more food, weekends and lunch only allow one bowl. SO… As a responsible 1st world countryman, I have a simple recommendation to make the best use of the bowl’s precious space: Get the meat last. The meat is thinly sliced(therefore curling up on itself) and refrigerated(so not very flexible) so it takes up ALOT of space in your bowl. I realize that last sentence makes the meat seem unappetizing but don’t let my unfledged and unimaginative vocabulary steer you away. Try this place out if you get the honor of visiting Citrus Heights.

I love this place! If you don’t like the food, it’s because you don’t know how to choose the sauces. You’ve gotta fill it to the top with sauce so they don’t water it down at at all.

This was actually the very first Mongolian BBQ I ever tried about 20 yrs ago and its still there! The pros was the sauces were flavorful which makes the whole dish. A lot of times other MBBQ water their sauces down so it becomes flavorless. The cons are that not all was fresh. The zuchini was turning brown in the middle and garlic looked old. The noodles are sub par. They looked beat up but tasted alright. The appetizers were terrible. Usually for dinner time you get something better than won ton skins. They had this roll up thing that was hard and flavorless. The rice was also flavorless eventhough they called it fried rice. It really wasn’t. Price was the most expensive($ 12.95 for dinner) I had ever seen for Mong and they didn’t even have Tofu in the mix. Dining area is small and cramped. It probably wont be a destination for me but if someone wanted to go, I wouldn’t say no. Their sauces were the savior.

Awesome food. This was my first time having Mongolian BBQ all you can eat. I did try it at the food court once. Great portions for $ 11, you’ll get so full you won’t need to go back for seconds. I felt silly waiting around for a menu. Would definitely come back!

Egg noodles are too thick, was like i was chewing on yarn. They watered down my stuff so much there was very little taste. Soda was flat on both original and refill even after complaining. I won’t be going back.

wow do i love this place. DAMN. before going here, the only place i had tried mongolian bbq was fire + ice in providence. being able to pick out your food and having it cooked in front of you is really cool but was always so expensive. this place is in a strip mall in a smaller suite. parking shouldn’t be an issue. not cramped at all, pretty surprising considering the need for the grill and buffet line. staff is nice and promptly seat you when space is available. you get seated and after ordering your drinks, head on over to the buffet line to get your ingredients. the meat options are pretty standard: chicken, pork, beef, etc. pretty okay amount of veggie choices if you aren’t looking for anything outside of the stir-fry spectrum. lots of choices in sauces too. there are two types of noodles to choose from: one is fat and the other is thin. once you have all your items, you hand it to the grill cooks and wait a minute or two while they get to work. be sure to have cash to leave them a tip as they’re working their butts off. getting back to your table, youll find a small bowl of rice, chicken soup, sesame rolls and wonton chips with sweet sauce, all which are good to snack on as you wait for your bowl to cool down. eventually, your check is dropped off and you get your fortune cookies. pay up front and youre off. the service? fine. i dont like to be bothered at buffets by the staff and they don’t have to be the friendliest of people. the interior? nothing special at all. bathrooms arent super clean either. but the food is cheap and really tasty. youre not going to a steakhouse, youre going to a place where everything is eaten out of a bowl.

My husband and I have been going here for years but today was the 1st time in a long time the restaurant was very clean and way better than what’s it’s been in a long whileand the food is always good but ushally they are out of stuff. The staff is always super nice though. But today when my husband and I went there for dinner at a round 5pm for about an hour or so why we were there eat there there fire alarms kept going off and it was super load. My husband and I ushally eat here about 6 times or so a year maybe because there’s always problems or there out of a lot of things or the restaurant is dirty or something in the restaurant isn’t working.

This place was awesome! Definitely a hole in the wall – but delivered more than expected. Walk in, tell them how many, and they seat you right away. You order your drink, and then get up at the buffet line to make your bowl of delicious picks. I tried the lamb. It was thinly sliced to perfection. I chose the thinner noodles and they were delicious. I added sprouts, tomatoes, zucchini, mushrooms, and cilantro. Topped it with house special sauce, a bit of sesame oil, and some crushed garlic – before handing it to the cook. It took him less than 2 minutes to cook everything. Take caution – food is very hot… so don’t accidentally burn your tongue because it looks sooo good! #guilty Waiter dropped off the check as soon as I sat down to eat. Hmm. Saving time? Complimentary wonton chips were good. Had a side of sweet and sour sauce – nothing too fancy. Egg flower soup was unusally thick. Didnt have more than a spoonful. o_O Fried rice was good. But I don’t normally eat noodles and rice… so didnt eat much of that either. But I did finish my entire bowl. Was too full to go back for a second round. Yummy Dinner for under $ 13. Would definitely recommend!

My favorite Mongolian BBQ place! Its a little hole in the wall… the décor is out-dated, but the food is great and fresh! What I really LOVE about this one is that there are TWO types of noodles — the default thicker noodle, but they also have a thin noodle choice. I love the thinner noodle. Also I love their crispy wonton skins and their sweet and sour sauce! You can ask for more! They are super friendly and inexpensive for all-you-can eat! OUR(my friend and I’s) MONGOLIANCOOKINGTIP: To make your noodles that golden brown color and tasty —You have to fill your bowl to the RIM with a combination of sauces… don’t be shy about adding the sauces, because they will pour water on it as they are cooking, so if you don’t add enough sauce, it will be flavor-less. Trust us!
