I’ve been very hesitant to write this review as I genuinely believe that people end up getting what they are due in life. However, it has been weighing on my mind that anyone doing their due diligence and researching a company before hiring them deserve to know how I was treated as a customer. I hired WC Stein after researching their largely positive and satisfied reviews. I had them install two light fixtures on either side of my garage doors, a light switch, and two double outlets on the backside of my home. The red flag went up as soon as the two workers arrived. Neither of them knew what the job was about; I had to explain to them what they were to do. Out of concern, I called and spoke with Walley? who reassured me they were capable of doing the job and not to worry. I had to leave an hour or two prior to them completing the job — someone was home if there were questions. When I arrived back home, the switch they installed for the exterior lights was not functioning. Having installed these myself before, I was annoyed but fixed it myself(the wiring to the switch was incorrectly done). I didn’t bother calling or complaining to the company. A few months went by and everything was fine, no concerns whatsoever, until I had a pool company come and take a look at my inground pool light fixture(I wanted a new one installed). He traced back the wiring to the junction box where WC Stein installed two outlets. He pushed the GFCI breaker and found that the light wasn’t protected by it. He was immediately concerned and wouldn’t even go any further with me, additionally advising me that this was a HUGE safety concern as I could be electrocuted in the pool without this proper safety feature wired correctly. He advised staying out of the pool until it was fixed. I had been swimming in this pool for about 4 months, unprotected by what I believe to be code required safety equipment(installed correctly). I switched the breaker off, called another electrician and found the issue. WC Stein had installed the plug BYPASSING the GFCI safety component that feeds to my pool light fixture. Had any water or any seal in the light have been compromised, I believe the water could have been charged and I could have been electrocuted. I had the issue fixed. I called the next day and spoke to Bill(?). He wanted his electrician to come out and look even though I informed him that the issue was already fixed. When his electrician arrived, he agreed that this was poor workmanship and called it «embarrassing». He also told me that someone should have been on the job supervising the two workers, but that they were«busy at the time» and no one was able to make it. We talked for a few minutes and he offered me $ 400 reimbursement of the $ 927 total I paid them. I agreed, as I was more concerned that they know how their workers put my life in danger than actually receiving reimbursement. I believe that a full refund would have been the ethical thing to do in this case, but nonetheless I did not pursue anything other than what Walley had offered. He said he would call the owner to confirm and he would be in touch later that afternoon. Walley called ½ hour or so after leaving and said his boss«was not very happy with him» for offering me $ 400. He said he authorized $ 200. I asked if I could call his boss/owner directly, he gave me the number. I called and spoke with him(Bill?) and he was resistant to Walley’s offer and said it wasn’t just for the cause as they charged $ 100/hr and it would have taken them two hours to fix it. I said why don’t we split it down the middle at $ 300 — he reluctantly agreed. Meanwhile, I was again more concerned that this was a job that potentially endangered my life; he was dismissive of the fact, and was more concerned about not giving me $ 400. He ended the conversation with saying«I“ll put a check in the mail tomorrow». It has been 3 or 4 weeks and no check has arrived. I’ve emailed, but have not bothered calling the company. The money is not the issue. The poor integrity, irresponsibility, and lack of ethics and morals is astounding. Needless to say, this is my personal experience and I see that others have had MUCH better dealings with this company. Take this for what it is, but I won’t be hiring them again.
