3.5 rounded to 4 stars –lower star rating mainly due to poor table service. It is disappointing to see a restaurant with such great potential lack focus in the area of what it means to receive good-adequate table service. Brought the family back to try out their late night menu… fish and chips and a burger, this time we sat at a table. Unfortunately table service was not as good as the bar service on my previous visit. Food was still good with a few flaws but enjoyed nonetheless. We were sitting out on the patio and our server came out right away to take our drink order, and we had to wait about 15 minutes for our water to arrive which was embarrassing since I was the one that suggested the restaurant. The waiter did apologize for the wait. What bothers me that was there was a manager who was just standing in the restaurant and I don’t know what he was observing the whole time, but it would have been nice if he noticed the inattentiveness of service and assisted in some way. There was also ample wait staff available but apparently no delegation when needed. Thankfully after we put in our order we received our food in a timely manner. Silverware for two of us had to be asked for from the guy who brought out the food because even though it was brought to his attention, our waiter never brought us out silverware and napkins either. I was leary that there was an issue with service because I heard another table next to us upset about something and from what I overheard I think they got the got their meal on the house and were also brought out desserts as an apology. The waiter unfortunately did not come by to check on our table other than when the food was first dropped off, when no one had even taken a bite, and at the end when the meal was almost finished. At no time during our meal did we have the opportunity to tell the server that the $ 16 burger my husband ordered was well done instead of medium as he ordered, and it was pointless bringing it up at the end. I did find out late night has a skeleton kitchen crew so I’m assuming all the head chefs were already gone which could explain why we got it over done burger. The burger was good and you could tell it was made with high-quality ingredients but overcooking a burger kills it. Fish and chips were also enjoyed by the person who ordered them. Service here seems scattered and not organized and does not match the ambiance or food served and would deter me from coming back and sitting down for dinner with table service. I did see the nice gentleman who was my server at the bar and I would go back there any day and just eat at the bar for a better experience.

Loved it! Great food. Great atmosphere. Two minor complaints only magnified because the rest of the food was so incredible. The scalloped potatoes were a bit bland once you got past the top. It was very warm outside, and they left the doors open which eventually warmed the inside dining area as well, so it got pretty sweltering by the end of our experience. We will come here again. The food was mostly incredible(recommend the pork chop) and the service was good. Coctails were also excellent.

Surprisingly underwhelmed. The service was seriously lacking and very slow. Our sever almost passed us by when we were ready to order dessert! I had to stop her even though she had given us the dessert menu ten minutes prior. My husband said he’ll never go back there. Oh, and the wine glasses were dirty.

My new favorite local restaurant. Had dinner on their patio a few days ago, and it was perfection. Summer’s approaching, and I think I may have found my new go-to spot for amazing food and amazing drinks to enjoy in all of this amazing weather that’s coming. To start, we had their grilled peaches that came w/burrata, Parma ham, arugula and balsamic glaze. Dead. So simple but just so perfect when combined together. Light and fresh and delicate but flavorful. It was summer on a plate. Also had the goat cheese lollipops. Dead again. Crisp exterior, but still light and creamy inside, not too heavy, and perfectly complimented w/the honey and almonds. For my main, I had the Japanese Sweet Scallops. Again, the flavors of the dish perfectly complimented each other and just seemed really fresh. Nice sear on the scallops, and the sweetness of the carrot purée w/the tartness of the apples, and the bitterness of the endive… It all just came together nicely. Friendly service, nice wine list, and the Bold Fashioned w/the coffee ice cube… Was sipping on perfection. In summary, nice patio atmosphere + delicious food + well crafted cocktails and wine = Jeri’s heart. Solid five.

So I came here the Sunday with my boyfriend because he’s been wanting to try this place out for awhile now and so glad I went. He got a sandwich that he really liked and I got AMAZING crab cake burger. I’m kinda a crab cake snob and I have to say one of the best effing crab cakes I’ve had in a long time. Next time I’m craving one I’m coming here for sure!

Helpful friendly service. No waiting time. The interior is amazing and modern. The lighting gave the restaurant a calm relaxing atmosphere and added to the ambiance. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The food was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We all had a excellent experience and will definitely be back real soon

We were seated fairly quickly but for the following 10 minutes not a single person even looked our way, despite several employees walking by. If you aren’t too busy to seat your guests, then you aren’t too busy to at least get their drink orders. Even so, it takes 10 seconds to tell a guest that you’ll be with them in a minute. We left after that. We were really looking forward to what seemed like excellent food on the menu. Sorry, but it takes more than that to run a successful restaurant.

Perfect spot for any occasion. Spacious patio, pretty ambient lighting too. Full bar and lots of wine. The major plus is the food! Went here on mothers day weekend, and it was pretty enjoyable. Would’ve been better if the patio outside was available but there was a miscommunication when we spoke on the phone and we ended up getting a bar table inside. Really good lighting here though, uses garage doors as their opening. The service was really nice but lacked attention. The manager stopped by a few times for us cause they noticed that our waiter wasn’t coming to us. Okay, now for the food. For three, we ordered the goat cheese lollipop, pairs really well with wine because of the creaminess plus honey and slivered almonds. so we got the wine flight. There is happy hour available, not sure atm. As for our main course, we ordered the porter, the seafood couscous, and the salmon quinoa. The porter steak, About 20oz $ 45, really good and juicy, all parts of it was just amazing. Half new York steak and half filet mignon. Served with three sauces, horseradish, some type of pesto(lemon and dill), and another I cannot remember. It wasn’t too important because you just want to savour the steak for all its glory. Comes with two sides. Just a very big meal, but so worth it. The seafood couscous, About $ 30, and so filling. Comes with scallops, shrimp, red snapper, and mussels. Best for seafood lovers and comes with a bowl for your shells. The salmon quinoa, Wasn’t my dish but the piece of salmon I had was just cooked so perfectly! Juicy yet crispy skin. Despite the first impression with the waitress and server, the food definitely made up for everything and the manager was on point. Overall I would come back, would be perfect for a date night at the patio during happy hour :) A very high 4 star, incentive to come back and give it a five!

Hidden gem in Claremont, this restaurant is one of my favorite go-to-place for brunch! Classy, elegant, with a bit of casual ambience. The outdoor seating area is just adorable. Never really had to wait a long time here for a table. The servers are quick and accommodating. We tried eggs benedict and steak & eggs; both were really good! Don’t skip the berries and crème brûlée waffle if you still have some space left in your tummy. They have mimosas ladies! And a full bar of course. My only issue would probably be parking since it always get packed around downtown Claremont. Regardless, give this place a try if you are ever in the area!

Reservations a must! We made reservations and were seated immediately while those without had s wait time of over an hour. Great service and the most amazing staff! There is an excellent selection of wines by the bottle and the prices were reasonable. The goat cheese lollipops are a must! The Bardot salad is fabulous. The pears and walnuts give the salad the perfect amount of crunch and they pair well with the blue cheese crumbles. The steaks are cooked to perfection with a great trio of dipping sauces. I’m not a lemon meringue fan but the lemon meringue tart is amazing! I’m definitely a customer got life!

I came across Bardot by reading reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give it a shot for a date night with my husband. We walked in on a Saturday night I was surprised how quite it was there was no one to greet us at the front to seat us. A bus boy walked right past us it looked like he was throwing out trash not sure. But he did not even look at us. We waited a couple minutes to be seated. We sat on the patio It was a beautiful night. My husband ordered there Lamb plate I believe it was $ 36 and I ordered a chicken ciabatta sandwich we both were not impressed at all. I don’t think I will be back again. Side note there drinks were good. So kudos to the Bartender.

Bardot is a quaint modern small independent restaurant in Claremont. North in the village, it has a good selection of starters, entrees and seasonal specialities. I enjoyed the fresh handmade fettuccine pasta with shrimp — it was the most flavorful and fresh pasta I’ve ever tasted. The wine selection is sufficient and the desserts are tasty. Bardot has good food and outdoor patio ambience.

My wife & I have been here a few times now & we absolutely love it! The food? perfection yet again. As always, we ordered the Goat Cheese lollipops to start off with. They are so good! My wife enjoyed the blueberry lemon drop & petite filet. She absolutely loved both. I ordered the KUROBUTAPORKCHOP and enjoyed every bite. Both were cooked to perfection & tasted fantastic. Our waiter, Kevin, was nothing short of amazing! Not only was he friendly & attentive, something we’ve come to expect at Bardot, but he was quite the conversationalist, treating me like we had been friends for years! I think we’ve found our favorite waiter here! I can’t wait to return again & try something new! Thank you Bardot.

Had a very nice lunch with 5 interior design friends… Food was fabulous, venue charming but waitress didn’t keep up on everything. It was a very hot today ~~~ asked for ice water a few times food took along time to come out of the kitchen, but it was very Fresh when it arrived and yummy I will be back! I had the salmon salad it was scrumptious. Crab Louie was a fav for a couple of the ladies at our table… In fact the best they have ever had! These are world traveling ladies :))

I only gave this place 3 stars because although the food was great & our waiter Robert C was awesome, the owner was an ASSHOLE! He came up to our table and asked us to be more quiet… Really? Only in Claremont I guess…

HOSTESSETIQUETTEWASTHEWORSE(Medium length, straight hair w/bangs) !! Food is mediocre. 1 star for ambiance &1 star for food. Arrived 30 minutes before our reservations, which I politely advised them of and was told that we’d be seated in a FEW minutes. That’s fine, we’re early, we can wait but the restaurant was empty. 3 walk in’s arrived and were seated before we were ??? I asked what the heck was going on and was told by the hostess, that they prefer to seat reservations at the time of reservation to keep the kitchen«organized». Ok, how does that make sense? The faster, we sit and eat, the faster we’re out of there. Then she said, «it just works that way» with a stupid smirk on her face. What kind of idiotic response was that ? *Steak & Eggs — Steak was tender but flavorless. *Eggs Oscar — Bearnaise sauce had about about a tablespoon full of whole black pepper cloves. Was this a mistake or were they attempting to choke my daughter ? *Croque Madame — Average and a bit dry, the only part I enjoyed was the crispy bread. The assorted side fruit tasted better than the main course. Our waitress was awesome, quick & efficient. Side note* The patio benches are high & unless your 5’10 and over you feet may dangle. I also caught the hostess, sizing up my kids on our way out and quickly smiled and Thanked us when I followed and walked out. She would also roll her eyes at other patrons as soon as backs were turned also. GROWUPWOMAN ! If you hate your job that much, LEAVE ! Hostesses are usually friendly & Personable, this woman was just plain, nasty and rude.

I love the patio and the bar seating – a must stop if you’re strolling through Downtown Claremont. We came on a Sunday during brunch, and the whole patio was reserved until 4 pm so the wait would’ve been an hour and a half wait for a party of two to be seated inside. It seemed like a really long wait so we opted for bar seating which was fine(and actually quite beautiful and refreshing). I understood why the wait was so long – food takes FOREVER to come out. I think we waited a good 30 – 40 minutes for two dishes – eggs with crab meat and the crème brûlée waffle. The food was solid; I wouldn’t say it was«worth the wait» but it was very satisfying. The menu items weren’t completely unique, but everything looked so appetizing and fresh. I had such a hard time choosing since the lady next to me ordered a chicken club sandwich. In my head, I was thinking I could totally make that myself and order something else, but it looked super good. The service was excellent, but since one lady at the bar was watching the entire bar which was 20+ people, it was a bit slow.

I was very excited to come here for the first time thought I would give it a shot since I live near by. surprisingly this is a very small restaurant … I decided to try there Wedge Salad to start off and was very surprised. I’ve had wedge salads in many other places and I’ve never had a wedge salad with croutons, the salad looked more like a regular salad vs an actual wedge. It had some weird looking tomatoes that were green and purple in color. There goat cheese lollipops where interesting but small, meat ball size. I had a NY steak ordered Med– I got a well done steak. It was a great steak great quality. For dessert I had a flourless choco cake dry small and wasn’t good at all. Refer to the pictures looks like the cupcakes from Hostess from the market. Over all I give it a 3 expected more from Bardot. I think that if the chef made a few changes on the menu this restaurant can be amazing. I don’t think I would come here again, for the price quality and price I rather go to a better quality steakhouse.

Beware customers! Seems like someone very close to this business is trolling reviewers! Not nice at all. UPDATE: The business manager contacted me after the incident to take care about the trouble. Many thanks to Beau for sending a message and clarifying that nobody from Bardot would send such humiliating«compliment». I’m just leaving a full note of my previous updated review in case someone else encounters the same issue. It is great when our reviews do have value to businesses and potential customers, and that Unilocal works as a very useful tool to search for culinary experiences worth trying!

tl;dr: Inspiring casual ambiance, cocktails, and menu. Good place for a date… Everyone we’ve talked to remembers it as Harvard Square, but this is owner Alain Fournier’s reboot into a modern French/Cali café/lounge. We were here to check out the second annual Halloween party for a little dining fare and some innocent but safe and sane debauchery(c’mon we’re talking about Claremont)… As far as the costumes I really wasn’t expecting much, made more evident by our last minute half-hearted Party City run that yielded some kitty accouterments for my wife and yours truly as an umbrella sword wielding member of Lucy Liu’s Crazy 88 gang. To the credit of most of the participants, I didn’t see a single Slutty Pikachu or rude Macho Dog as there was a fair amount of effort in some of the costumes. We even got DJ Daft Punk to play something with a little more general appeal than EDM. Funniest line of the evening belongs to the Phantom of the Opera after coming back from the restroom: «…I think I peed on my cape…» But the most pleasantly surprising part of the evening had to be how much we enjoyed the food on the menu: Goat Cheese Lollipops — crispy fried outer shell encasing a goat cheese center; one is enough before the taste of the cheese begins to overwhelm; four per order so this is a good one to share… Beef Satay Skewers — nothing really special as far as satay goes but still a nice savory bite; three to an order… Duck Taco a l’Orange — good taco with lots of tender savory meat, duck texture is similar to carnitas but the flavor is more gamey and moist than say chicken; can taste the freshness of the citrus; nice but you only get one per order… Fish and Chips — nice presentation; I always said somewhere that cod makes the best fish and chips, the batter held up nicely so you get a little bit of seasoned crunch without being overwhelming; the fries were well made, but like most fish and chips best eaten when it first comes out before it gets cold and soggy; comes with fresh lemon, tartar, and ketchup… Crab Louie Salad — fresh iceburg with a generous amount of crabmeat; has requisite hard boiled eggs and fresh asparagus, but wished they would have some black olives in place of a couple of the tomatoes; louie dressing on the side for presentation but I prefer my salad tossed so you’ll have to do it on your own… =P Though our party had some wine and a some beer(seasonal pumpkin ale was ok), I didn’t try any of the cocktails which look and sound like they might be pretty popular. The bar seemed welcoming but I thought our seats on the patio on an unseasonably warm Halloween evening were awesome, you actually have a very open feel from the corner with a view of everything on the patio and even on the sidewalk, and the cushions were very comfy. If this doesn’t sound like it’s your bag they even have some private booths inside. We had a reasonably large party on an understandably busy evening but to their credit the service kept up pretty well… I would like to come back to see how they are on a «regular» evening, or perhaps lunch even…
