Hookah is over priced, slow service and they don’t put the customer first. I gave 2 stars because they do have really good food. It’s just very pricy.

I decided one afternoon to eat lunch in Claremont. There are many restaurants to choose in this area. I decided I wanted to sit down and have something other than a burger. Casablanca Bar and Grill blew my socks off. The food was sooooo incredibly delicious. I kept being surprised. It started with the garlic dip(which is the best I have ever tasted). The waiter was pleasant and kept making superlative recommendations. I had the hummus with lamb — great. I had the fried cauliflower — out of this world! It truly was an incredible afternoon. Have decided to come back often

Just dropped in for a nice Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife. This was the first restaurant I brought her to 7 years ago when we met and we loved it for a long while. After not eating here for over a year we decided to revisit where we had our first dinner date, Casablanca. When we called on the phone before arriving the guy said it was a 40 minute wait. We still thought it’s worth going and waiting so no problem. Strangely enough when we arrived just 20 minutes later the place was practically empty. It was almost like they didn’t want customers coming in. Ok it get weirder. We walked in and weren’t greeted for about 2 minutes which seemed long. Finally a man came up and said just a little longer until we could be seated. Weird since nobody was even here. We finally sat down and I ordered right away what we usually have, the chicken shawarma with falafel on the side. It was the owner taking our order and he said the kitchen was out of falafels. I told him to give me a minute to decide on a different appetizer. When he came back over I explained how I wanted something crispy for an appetizer to contrast the texture of the soft shawarma and rice we had ordered for dinner so I asked for the fried cheese pies which again he the kitchen was out of. He recommended the spinach pies which I agreed sounded fine and crispy. When they came to the table they were the exact opposite of crispy. In fact they were soft and disgustingly bitter. The spinach filling was brown looking and slimy tasting. I never do this but I flagged down a server and explained how I didn’t expect this to be what it was and he explained to me that they had run out of the outer dough to make the spinach pies so they used some other dough, and he then said they had to be microwaved! Lol — I looked at him and told him to do me a favor and cancel that off my check. Finally dinner came. The usual well cooked and deliciously seasoned chicken was this time well under cooked, rubbery and bland. The owner came over again during dinner and asked«how’s that garlic spread?» In an attempt to distract from the horrible meal we were forced to eat, I knew what he was doing and it was lame. By the way the garlic spread is the only good thing I ate. Going back to before the meal came out I had asked the server what a good Mediterranean alcohol beverage would be with dinner. Since it was Valentine’s Day I felt like having one with dinner. The server said to me «Arak» was very traditional and if I wanted to «take the risk» maybe I would like it. Since I’m definitely a risk taker I decided to try it. Wow, I wish he had further warned me or at least let me taste a small sip beforehand. This stuff was 120 proof and tasted gross. He even said«nice knowing you» as he placed it on my table. Cool man, hilarious to drop an $ 8.50 drink down on the table that I took 2 – 3 sips of and wasted the rest. He could have at least offered a small taster before I commited to it. I think that’s an alcohol that only certain people can drink and I’m not one of those certain people. The whole vibe was way off. Servers having secret conversations and giving weird looks to us at our table and annoying comments from the owner. This place took a major dive in the last year or two and I never plan on coming back again. Hope you guys enjoy my review.

20 minutes was all my wife I could give. First 5 minutes. Noticed it wasn’t busy so we figured we would get served right away(actually just seated). Nothing. A guy comes up and says oh thank you, here is a menu, we will be a few minutes. Please have a seat he says. We have been in the car for a while so a seat wasn’t needed(yet). We look at the menu and about 10 minutes after he asks us to follow him to the bar, but it’s a nice evening and my wife and I wanted to sit outside. That wasn’t well received. He seemed pissed at the notion. So he asks us to wait again. 5 minutes later he brings us to an outside seating. Only one party is there in the corner and my wife and I sit. The waiter seems like he was having a terrible day. The table is dirty. There are little dots of gooey stuff smeared. My wife and I have grown hungry at this point. We wait 5 minutes… No water… No waiter… So we walk out. I truly believed he was going to spit in our food because of his ill demeanor. Now I understand if it was packed. But it wasn’t. Maybe we needed to be drunk and wanted to wait a long time to be seated and have some food. My wife and I had always wanted to try this place… Guess they didn’t want to try us.

Casablanca holds a special place in my heart as it is the location of my first and many subsequent dates with my boyfriend. More importantly to the rest of the world, however, is how delicious and underrated it is. I am a HUGE Mediterranean food fan, and this place blows it out of the water. The skordalia(garlic potato dip) that they give complimentary along with the oil dip and thin bread is amazing and super garlicky. And its complimentary! We always fight over who gets to order the chicken shwarma. Its some of the best shwarma I’ve ever had– its moist and juicy, and the seasoning is incredible and plentiful. The hummus is also divine, I recommend getting the appetizer version(the one with lamb on it as well is a special treat). Even better, their dishes also include some veggies! They are well cooked, and honestly not too common for mediterranean places so I really appreciate it. The veggie kebabs are also excellent — well seasoned and roasted. The staff are super friendly and came to recognize us. Its a lovely, romantic setting where you can hear each others conversations, but they also have TVs playing sports if you’d prefer that. Its truly a lovely restaurant, not too expensive, and very much underrated in Claremont.

Was greeted with an attitude upon requesting a take out order. They wouldn’t honor our Unilocal coupon because we were not«dining in»(Although the coupon doesn’t mention that). Garlic sauce sucks, way too much lemon. They charged $ 4.50 for about 3 big tables spoons of garlic sauce and a whole lot of oil and sesame sauce(which they put into a Styrofoam container so it could leak out all over the bag and all its contents– oh, the 4.50 included a bag a bag of pita bread… directly from the grocery store in its original packaging. Not even fresh. At least the falafel was good. So disappointed. Won’t be back.

Good food, but really pricey for no apparent reason. I mean it’s not THAT good for crying out loud. Hookah is decent but not great. Overall, they can use some improvements in their service and prices for sure!

ATTENTIONGROUPONUSERS — THISPLACEIS A SCAM. I bought the«$ 12 for $ 20 Worth of Mediterranean Food and Drinks at Casablanca Bar & Grill» deal from Groupon and tried to use it last night and was refused for an ILLEGITIMATEREASON. At first, I was told I was not able to use the deal because I had purchased alcohol but when I reviewed the Groupon it said nothing of the sort within the Fine Print. I refuted the waiter’s claim to which he then changed tactics and told me my Groupon could not be accepted because the restaurant’s «contract» had expired with the company. I’m going to fast forward and tell you that this as well was a BIGFATLIE. I just got off the phone with Groupon right now and the representative assured me that Casablanca is, indeed, still partnered with their company and he had no idea why my Groupon was refused. In fact, the site is still offering the deal as of right now! Don’t let those crooks tell you otherwise, YOURGROUPONISVALID. When I went last night, I was told to pay and then call Groupon to get my reimbursement afterwards. While a reimbursement is fine and dandy, the problem still at hand is that Casablanca is extorting both customer and the Groupon company by asking customers to pay despite the restaurant keeping the profits earned from their previous Groupon purchase. I don’t know what the owners of Casablanca are pulling at, but they are misleading customers with false information. What they’re doing is not only dishonest, but suspiciously illegal. I truly used to love this place, but now I hope they run themselves to the ground(which according to all the other 1 star reviews — they’re definitely on track of doing). A BIG F YOU, CASABLANCA.

The service too slow. Too pricey. Food too salty. They don’t deserve any star at all. And too make it worse they don’t accept my groupon deal. So ashamed!!!

No stars please! This is not what we were expecting when we bought the groupon that they conveniently don’t accept anymore and yet are still selling online. So we ended up spending 50 dollars on a 40 dollar meal that was worth 25.00. Place was absolutely empty and now I know why. Service was not great especially since we were the only ones there. Food was over cooked the first time it came out and the 20 min re-fire was too late to make up for it. ½ hour ticket time for the only order in the house! What a horrible dinner experience. Should have checked Unilocal before we bought the fake groupon that they’re selling. This place left a horrible taste in my mouth. P. S. save your time and don’t respond. You’re dishonest and doing bad business and it will be your demise. Diners beware!

One of the newer restaurants in the new part of the Claremont Village. My family and I have frequented this restaurant on many occasions and have always been satisfied with the food and the service. The place is very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating areas. It seems most people like the outside seating area. The outside seating area is a large veranda that looks out at arguably the busiest corner of the new village. Lots of people viewing and occasionally music from nearby acoustic acts. Really nice on a warm evening. The restaurant has a small bar area with a TV. Bartender is experienced and friendly. Tasty martinis, misc other drinks and food to munch on if you wish. Try the Hookah after dinner and relax. A good place for the family and also a good place to take your significant other on date night. Ask for Waleed… he’ll make sure you are well taken care of. Enjoy!

Came here around lunchtime, since there was no wait… I was a little hesitant about eating here since the restaurant is usually empty. The food at Casablanca was surprisingly really good. The only thing that bothered me was the lipstick stain on my beer glass, stains on napkins, and flies inside. There was also a big black hair in our garlic dip. Bummer because the food was actually really tasty!

I would give the food 4 stars but the overall pricing experience would get 2 stars. I placed an order thru Unilocal and they emailed me my confirmation order along with the total charge of the meal. Once I got to the restaurant the waiter informed me that the prices online were 8 years old and that is why my bill was $ 3 extra.(Yes, it was only $ 3 but that’s not the point) my online bill was $ 9.81 and they charged me $ 13.03. I had to hassle the waiter to reimburse me the difference and he still shorted me 22¢. Also, he would not let me use the coupon on Unilocal that offers $ 5 off of ANYFOODITEM… The waiter explained to me that it was only for entrees but that is not what the coupon says. If I were you I would just be aware of your total charge and billing before giving your debit card.

I visited this place five weeks ago with my sister. This review has been delayed far too long and it’s kind of embarrassing because I wish I’d done it sooner; being that the service and food were absolutely perfect lol but better late than never! Our server was Wally, amazing man! Extremely funny and charming, definitely recommended me a great choice of a dish and drink. My sister and I had an amazing time. Not only because the food was so good, but because our server was super duper friendly, joyful, funny and endearing. I wish I had a waiter like that every time I visited restaurants lol. NEVERFIREWALLY, HE’S THECOOLESTWAITERIVEEVERMET: D Food was incredible. Not too greasy, not too heavy. Will definitely come back one of these days and hopefully try other great foods and get the same waiter again
