Buffalo Joe’s most definitely is about«the Joe» because the coffee at breakfast time never stops. Every member of the friendly wait staff came by my table to fill my cup. As much as having a cup that is always more than half filled would imply all was good in the world of Buffalo Joe’s … I cannot raise the higher level stars in rating my breakfast in this clean nicely set up diner with a menu that does not overwhelm. Service matters and service was good here. Prices that do not cause the credit card to appear are a plus and I paid in cash. Seeing a crowd of happy diners is a good sign and Buffalo Joe’s had a Sunday morning crowd. The never ending cup of coffee tasted like Maxwell House, which is a plus if you like Maxwell House. I prefer a coffee that tastes as if the beans were actually roasted with a specific intent. But my issue of the day was my meal. Corned beef hash is my breakfast dining test meal for new restaurants. The menu said homemade so it was my order of the day. I chose wholewheat toast to go with the meal. Before writing this review I googled corned beef hash just to double check my understanding of this classic breakfast meal. Here’s the definition — «Hash is a dish consisting of diced or chopped meat, potatoes, and spices that are mixed together.» I wondered about the definition when my breakfast meal had chunks of corned beef placed above a few measly pieces of fried potatoes. There was NOMIXING of ingredients and hence not hash. I asked for it crispy but since it wasn’t hash crispy was not possible. Yes, the corned beef tasted like corned beef and it was a nice portion but I wanted HASH. The eggs … no body to them. Ok, that sounds strange but usually eggs over medium have some body in the presentation not these. Perhaps I was overwhelmed by the«HASH.» And, finally the«whole wheat» toast most likely came from a «home style» mass produced plastic bag of «whole wheat» bread. Not picking on Joe’s because all too many breakfast stops do not take advantage of great bread options and instead deliver toasts using breads my mom would have kept in her kitchen but I never would buy. Buffalo Joe’s a friendly diner on Main Street that has a customer base that seem happy. As for me … I need the Hash test to be passed.

This is my favorite diner of all time. Living in Clarence, it’s a quick and convenient place to go get good and cheap food. My family also loves this resturant. My favorite thing to order is there breakfast. There omelettes are no joke. Great food and service. I highly recommend !

I decided to try Buffalo’s Joes while visiting family over Christmas weekend. I usually take my daughter to friendly’s but the food always seems blah. I end up spending $ 20 and being disappointed. So I wanted to try a more local place and I am glad I did. The food was amazing. The kids chicken strip meal for $ 5 turned into three meals for my daughter. My double grilled cheese burger was awesome. They used fresh hand packed ground beef not the frozen patties, and I could definitely taste the difference. It was so good(see picture). Don’t get me wrong, this is not fancy by any means, but for diner style food, it was exactly what I was wanting. I even love that the staff seemed to know all the other guests by name as soon as they walked in the door. The staff was great and so friendly. I will definitely be back next time I am in Buffalo.

Always good food. Normally do take out for the office, everyone loves the burgers! Went with the $ 5.25 tuna sandwich and a side of soup today. Grilled sour dough and plenty of tasty tuna. Others had the portobello wrap and sloppy joes. We were all happy and you can’t beat the price! Thank you Joe!

Buffalo joes is your typical little local diner. I have had everything from breakfast, burgers and salads from here. I wouldn’t say anything was absolutely amazing but it’s always good. Sometimes when we order take out its not on point. The prices are reasonable and the owner is very nice.

Went to buffalo joes yesterday for breakfast with my favorite guy and it was delicious!!! I loved everything about this little dive: the waitress was super nice not overbearing, and she mad a perfect cup of chai tea, I had the chicken soulvaki it was average about the same I would get anywhere else so no complaints. My husband had the firemen breakfast and it was HUGEEEEEE he couldn’t even eat it all, can’t wait to go back I think it’s the service that makes everything and it didn’t hurt that I had a coupon from that mad all the food less then $ 10.00…oh happy day

Great, little breakfast shop, but in a town where breakfast is so popular, it just doesn’t stand out. You’ll get friendly service, large portions, and just fair taste. I got the special of the day — steak and arugula omelette. I was excited to have these ingredients in an omelette! But it was just kind of thrown together much like you could do at home. Nothing special in presentation or taste.

I live in the neighborhood right behind here. Have eaten here a dozen times at least. Breakfast is delicious. Sandwiches are large and tasty. Haven’t had a burger yet — but from all the other posts about them I guess that will be next. Have had the fish here and it is good as well(Hayes is my number 1FF place). Id recommend to everyone to try this«greasy spoon diner» it’s a hidden gem.

This is owned by a guy named Andy from Rochester. He likes to randomly confuse people so he thought he’d name it «Buffalo Joe’s.» He also owns«Toronto Jacks» in Erie, PA, and«Pittsburgh Pete’s» in Syracuse NY. OK, I just made that up. What are you going to do about it. Come and have a go if you think you are hard enough(Robbie). Phew, I’m glad we got that out of the way. For a minute there I almost forgot my customary obligatory much-necessary vital impervious awful joke to begin the review. Now back to the serious stuff. What to order: Fish Fry, Cajun Fish Fry(extra cajun), Burger. What else is good: Everything. If you haven’t been here, you are really, really missing out. It’s some of the best and most affordable«home cooking» in Buffalo. Everything is made from scratch, home made, delicious, and pretty cheap. Especially considering which area it’s in, but it would be considered cheap in any suburb, honestly. Buffalo Joe’s is a real gem out in the suburbs of Clarence/Williamsville. This is the kind of place which, were it anywhere near downtown or in a trendy neighbourhood, it would be making a killing and one of the«hottest places to eat» in town, a la Amy’s Place, Betty’s, etc. For comparison’s sake, the food is more straightforward than at Amy’s, and about 20 times better on every level(in my opinion). Their burger is probably my favourite burger in WNY. It’s not as fancy as the… er, fancy… ones at ABV, Griffon, Good Tymes, Average Joe’s(different place!) and Ruzzine’s(which is miles better than Grover’s across the street, but has awful customer service skills), and it’s not quite on the level of my fave regular burger in town(Vizzi’s), but it’s not far behind Vizzi’s, somewhere between Lenox and Shannon on the scale of regular, but huge, burgers. It’s enormous and for some reason it just tastes better, fresher, and more satisfying than most of the aforementioned. I’m not even huge into burgers but I’m huge into this one, and I’m huge in general but that’s my private business. It is also possibly better than the delicious burgers at Mooneys too. Their breakfast food is excellent, some of the best around. Their sandwiches are delicious and made with real love and care. Their breakfast sandwiches are probably the best in town after Ohlson’s(on a muffin) and JJ’s(spicy). However, the star of the show is the absolutely incomparable Friday Fish Fry, which is far and away one of the best 2 of its kind that I’ve had in the USA. Shannon Pub comes close, but nowhere else is in the same league. Granted I’ve probably only tried a couple of dozen fish fries over here because nothing can compare to the Fish And Chips back in the UK, but this place does compare favourably, and is one of the best meal deals in town. For around $ 9 you get the most massive and delicious fried fish you will find, and every single bite is blissful. Of the sides, the seasoned fries and the german potato salad are absolutely off the charts delicious. The coleslaw is good too. But as well as this incredible fried chunk of goodness, you can also order the fish sauteed in lemon and grilled instead of fried… or, my favourite… grilled cajun fish. I can’t begin to tell you how juicy and delicious the cajun fish is, especially when you get it extra extra cajun spicy so it’s over-seasoned. Mmmm. It’s the kind of dish you’d pay $ 20 for at a seafood restaurantand it still wouldn’t be as good. It’s about 10,000 times better than Red Lobster and Boston Hotel combined, and yet the price is under $ 10 and you’re also supporting some really nice local people running a lovely little family restaurant. Now I’m thinking about that Cajun fish fry again… In fact the cajun is so good that I would actually tell you to try it that way over the fried, if you had to choose, but that might be because I’m getting a little tired of fried foods. In any case, if you love fish fry, you must try this one. And if you love burgers, as Darren says, you must try this one. The hours are limited(around 7 – 3 most days, open later on Fridays for Fish Fry I think) but make sure you stop by… you’ll have a new favourite café in town. I know I do. Buffalo Joe’s are anything but average… Joe’s… because Average Joe’s are on Sweet Home… but that’s not what I meant. You know what I meant. No? Ugh. Never mind. Eat here!

This place is awesome! Very clean, fast incredibly friendly service, and then the food arrives! Absolutely delicious. I had the«oh yeah Nate!». Country biscuits topped with sausage patties and eggs how I wanted them and that’s all covered with sausage gravy and cheddar cheese shred and includes a side of home fries or hashbrowns. Hidden gem. Will definitely return when next in the Buffalo area.

After trying to go to another local breakfast venue, we ended up at Buffalo Joe’s, because we couldn’t fathom waiting 40 minutes at the other place. I quickly« Unilocaled» anything nearby, and Buffalo Joe’s popped up. So less than 2 miles later, we were there. Despite being packed, we lucked out and got a table immediately. Our waitress was over within a couple of minutes taking our order and delivering our coffee. Not even 10 minutes later, we had our food in front of us. We were shocked at the fast and attentive service, because every other table(and all the bar spots) were filled! My fiancé ordered a breakfast sandwich and the corned beef hash browns, while I ordered bacon, sausage, and the regular hash browns. Our food was delicious. He did comment that the side of corned beef hash browns was a little small for the cost. All in all, we were pleased with our last minute decision to go to Buffalo Joe’s, and we will be back in the future for breakfast.

Small place in Clarence that is great for inexpensive breakfast or lunch. There are many aspects of Buffalo Joe’s Café that would keep us from coming back again. The environment is awkward, uncomfortable, and a bit unclean. However, the paint on the walls and menu design display a bold flare that is reflected in the food quality, taste, and affordability. We found a $ 20 for $ 10 local deal online and read the many great reviews, so we tried it for lunch. My burger and fries were fresh and top notch… genuinely one of the best in Buffalo, without being over-the-top. My wife’s salad with grilled chicken was entirely fresh and the portion was generous. We both ordered coffee and water, and I saw the fruit plate at a nearby table so we ended with that healthy and sweet delight. Our bill was $ 7.50, excluding gratuity! The service was pleasant, and we left happy. Upon initial reaction, we probably wouldn’t return, but after experiencing the wonderful food and unbelievable prices we’ll have to try Buffalo Joe’s again sometime soon.

So, we were in the area, and looking for a new place for brunch, as I’m always wanting to expand my brunch choices. We saw the other reviews from my various Unilocaler friends, and decided that this was a place that would be good. First misadventure — originally, the address was totally wrong in Unilocal,so we ended up being directed to some random part of Main Street. Being the mostly intelligent people we are, we quickly realized that we needed to go the other direction, towards Clarence!(I subsequently corrected the address with Unilocal,so the one listed is the right one.) This is located in a run down looking strip on Main in Clarence, but the place was jumping, almost totally packed. The waitress spotted us shifting uncomfortably by the door, and told us we could sit anywhere, so we snagged a booth near the window. Lee was feeling more lunchy than breakfasty, so ordered the open-faced turkey sandwich. I ordered Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benedict were mostly good, but the Hollandaise was broken and heavily buttery … but the eggs were poached well, and the home fries were excellent. I cleaned my plate and was mostly satisfied, but I am not sure if I would order them again. Lee loved his sandwich, and I stole a couple of fries from his plate: they were of the unpeeled, medium thickness variety with a nice scattering of seasoning. He’d ordered a side of more turkey gravy, and the combination was delicious. The waitstaff were really nice, our waitress was really motherly, and we almost felt like we were in her kitchen, she was very friendly and attentive. She did manage to talk us into desserts, and I gave their peanut butter pie a try. It was good, with a hefty, thick peanut butter layer that was akin to peanut butter fudge. Lee was instantly taken with Pumpkin Cheesecake, and he loved it. So overall, he got the better end of the deal compared to me, and perhaps I should have sent my Eggs back, but I would definitely give this place another visit.

Buffalo Joe’s is the best restaurant that nobody has heard of. Sure, it’s a bit dirty, cramped, and run down, but none of this matters because the food is fan-freakin-tastic. Let’s start with the burger here. This burger is better than either Grover’s or Ruzzine’s Rock Bottom. In fact, I would rate it in my top 3 in Western NY(#1, going to Griffon Pub, #2, going to Mericana). This is not a gourmet burger — No gimmicks. You start with ½ lb of fresh ground beef and then build your burger with whatever toppings you choose. I simply go with bacon, cheese, and onion. Simple but so good. The meat is seasoned well and cooked to absolute perfection. The fries are fresh, handcut, and deliciously seasoned as well. Now onto the star at Buffalo Joe’s — The Fish Fry. The best in Western New York. There’s nowhere that comes close. Oh, you insist the best one is at blah-whatever neighborhood joint you go to? They’re the greatest? Shut up. No, they are not. This is better. Much better. And I’ve never even been to blah-whatever place. Why is the fish fry here so good? Yes it’s huge, but most importantly, they NAIL the batter here. Not too much batter, not too little. Not too greasy with perfect crispiness. The haddock itself is cooked perfectly. And, as if this delicious fish fry wasn’t enough, it comes with their homemade coleslaw and two sides. I like the homemade macaroni and potato salads, both of which are also homemade and stellar. Location — An ugly strip mall. Don’t care. Service — Adequate. Whatever. My only concern with Buffalo Joe’s is that I have no idea how they’re making money. The food is incredible and the prices very reasonable. Strike that — Cheap. Perhaps too cheap. I see coupons for Buffalo Joe’s all the time. Coupon, Groupons, and deal sites are typically not a good sign of long-term viability. I hope I’m wrong and I hope Buffalo Joe himself is raking in the moolah because this place is a local treasure. Do it!

I have to start by saying I was surprised by the quality of food given the somewhat older diner environment you experience. You walk in to what one night consider just a little average hole in the wall diner, and are pleasantly surprised it’s more than just that. I ordered the southwest turkey sandwich with homemade guacamole and apples. Oh my goodness was that just fresh, and refreshingly delicious. It also comes with really good and thick fresh cut french fries. Between that and seeing the juicy burger my husband ordered, you can tell they really care about quality in the kitchen. My hubby’s burger was thick, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The lettuce was crisp and the bacon was crispy and fresh. I absolutely look forward to going again soon to try something else. I really feel that the quality of food and care of preparation supersedes anything someone might think just from the appearance and impression you get when you first walk in. Our server was also very friendly, prompt, and courteous. I will be back.

Buffalo Joe’s Diner is just that… A diner. Nothing more, nothing less. The place is old, nothing fancy, dirty ceilings and not very big. If you can get over the fact that this is a locally owned place that doesn’t need to impress anyone on how it looks inside or out then I’d recommend giving it a try. Before writing this review I dined here 6 times. Each at various times of the day. Each time trying something different.(Most of the daily specials were wonderful and interesting.) Each and every time the food was consistently great! Not good… Great. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly and attentive. It seems most of the customers know all the employees. It was funny reading some of the other reviews… one not even trying the food and another complaining about the type of calendar on the wall? The funeral home calendar remains but looks to be mostly covered up by a sabres plaque. So for anyone willing to be a little open minded this place is a hidden gem.
