Nice atmosphere and quite. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and it tasted great. We also ordered roast beef, but I wasn’t impressed with the quality and flavor and I feel it was a waste of $. The chicken soup tasted good, but there was no chicken or vegetables in it. All it had in it is noddle and chicken broth and that’s it. The knishes are good. Bottom line, nice place to dine and good food, but it is pricey, and you I would stick to the sandwiches.

Ditto what Walt M wrote. The pros: * Good sandwich with very good product *Friendly staff and a good sized dine in area Cons: * Sooo expensive. I paid $ 17 for a turkey club sandwich and a bag of chips. While i understand that one pays a bit more when your turkey does not resemble a slice of silly putty, $ 17 for lunch that is just a sandwich and chips is pretty ridiculous.

One and done! Good: place was spotless, staff seemed friendly and efficient. Bad: the exorbitant prices for average food in this category. $ 13 – 15 per for corned beef, pastrami, and tongue sandwiches. I couldn’t see the young lady making them behind the counter but I figured they must be piled high. Upon opening the packages at home I discovered they most definitely were not. I was moved to weigh them on a kitchen scale and found that each had 6 – 7 ounces of meat on it. $ 25 – 30 per lb for smoked meats? Not me! The sides were good and the meats were satisfactory but certainly not outstanding. Next time I get a jones for Jewish deli I guess I’ll have to head to Bragman’s in Newark.

Excellent sandwiches and kosher food. My favorite place to go. Right off the parkway, pastrami and corn beef sandwiches are excellent. Health salad is to die for. Meat could be a little leaner. Service is always outstanding.

This place is a little kosher gem! It is a little tucked in the cut of a plaza which might seem deserted but… they have great sandwiches. The amount of meat they serve you will leave you a loyal customer. I will return.

Food is good. prices are very high. I’ve been to jewish deli’s before(so I know they are pricey) but this is extreme. The prices are on the menu blackboard and my sandwich(junior corned beef on rye) said it was going to be $ 11.95.but she charged me $ 14.95 and said«prices went up». Well maybe you should change your board then!

Why is it so hard to find a satisfying Yiddishe deli? I’m glad this Deli King has some sort of heksher, but it surely isn’t in good pastrami. Is it really such a challenge to offer quality pastrami, good soup, decent rye bread, and a real full sour pickle? Have we Jews become such an unserved, underappreciated minority? Other than Katz’s and Harolds, maybe Carnegie Deli, there is nothing else. Gornisht. Emes…

Great kosher deli with typical sandwich plus menu. Quality soups, meats and pretty good service in a clean luncheonette atmosphere.

Very good classic Jewish deli, with all the traditional items prepared well. Best of its type in the area by far.

Very good Jewish Deli. It made me homesick for Boro Park. Corn beef sandwiches were excellent as were the hot dogs and the kinishes. Buy one get one hot dog for a nickel on takeout only.

Food is so so, there customer service needs a lot of work, been in here like 5 times, everyone is always unfriendly. Way out of line with the prices for mediocre Jewish food. I sure miss the old Goodmans on Elmora Ave.

Everything you’d want in a Jewish deli. I got a «sloppy joe» with corned beef & pastrami. It was some of of the best meat I’ve ever had. Truly heavenly. I’m slightly allergic to rye, but I had a bite of my mom’s. WOW. I highly recommend this place.

Every once in awhile, probably at least 1x/month — usually after I have skipped breakfast — I get that warm«Reform Jewish» yearning for a Kosher Deli sandwich. Since real Kosher delis are quickly becoming«few & far between,» my expectations are usually high. Such was the case at Deli King of Clark, NJ. I have lunched there at least a half dozen times before, so I had come to expect a pretty good sandwich for the somewhat inflated price of $ 10.95(simple 1 meat) or $ 13.95(combo). Wrong. On my last trip to Deli King, on a weekday afternoon at the end of June, that usually predictable taste when you take that first bite of a hot pastrami or corned beef on eye, slathered with spicy brown deli mustard and a dollop of cole slaw … was a major letdown. My Corned Beef & Pastrami combo tasted like it had been sliced from an old leftover hunk of «corned beef rounds» from the ShopRite Deli counter. It lacked the signature juicy, smoky, slightly fatty, and peppery pastrami taste; with none of the delightfully stringy finish that normally comes from a halfway decent Jewish Deli sandwich ‚ I don’t know why, nor when this place started to go downhill. I only know that I will hesitate before subjecting myself(and my family) to another overpriced, tasteless sandwich from The Deli King.

Who knew there was a Jewish deli in Clark? Not me. Anyway, once I found it, I had to try it. Walking in it seems to be the typical kosher deli and restaurant. I took a seat and a busboy brought over a menu and asked if I wanted something to drink. He also returned with a glass of water and a plate of pickles and health salad. The waiter took my order and I soon had my appetizer of kishka in front of me. Mmmmmm. I haven’t had that in a long time. Soon afterwards my sandwich(corned beef & tongue on rye) came out. The waiter stopped by a couple times checking to see if everything was all right and if I needed anything else. He was attentive but not intrusive. That’s good! I haven’t had a good Jewish deli meal in a long time. I’ll be back when I have that need again!

I was in the mood for a good sandwich for lunch while at work. Since my company just moved to Clark, NJ I have been relying on Unilocal for suggestions. Found Deli King and just kept seeing the word pastrami pop out at me from a quick glance of the review and tips. Went in and ordered the pastrami on rye w/mustard and wasn’t disappointed at all. Really tasty. I am not an expert on what good pastrami is all about, but you can tell when something just taste good and this was it. I had a pickle as well. Not sure what type as they had all different types of pickles but it wasn’t as sour as the pickles I’ve had in the past(insert joke here). I paid $ 11.72 for the sandwich and pickle. Not sure if the pickle was extra or comes with the sandwich order. I’ve been told a good, hefty pastrami will run you between $ 12-$ 16. I plan to return and try some of the other food.

Had a Reuben w pastrami which was excellent! Wiretapping had a Turkey sloppy Joe which she said was very delish and made from real Turkey meat, not the processed stuff. However, 2 sandwiches for $ 21 is a bit much but overall very satisfied.

Excellent home cooked Jewish soul food. Came in with my mom for a nosh. We are not from the area but these two upper west side and northeastern NJ Jewish women were very satisfied… and that is hard to do. Classic pickles and health salad starters were crisp and juicy. We had a pastrami on rye, stuffed cabbage and a potato pancake. The bread and pastrami were out of this world! Soft and flavorful. Stuffed cabbage tasted like years of experience. Potato pancake vanished with the apple sauce… I wonder where it went… down the hatch!

I love the Deli King of Clark. The kosher food is fantastic. Yeah it’s old school and the atmosphere needs an update but go there for the authentic Kosher food. My last lunch there I had fried kishka with gravy, pastrami and tongue on rye with a side of chopped liver. Washed it down with Dr. Brown’s Cel-ray. Lunch fried kishka and sloppy Joe of tongue and pastrami

Great lunch option especially if you have no idea what is in the area and you left your client’s office without a single recommendation on where to eat lunch. I also always like supporting my people so yes, I want a knish, and put that hot pastrami on rye — then hand me a cold Black Cherry Dr. Brown. This is a charming, old school kind of deli. It’s a neighborhood institution and the stars of David do not lie, this is my kind of place. Friendly people behind the counter. It is an old fashioned, delicious looking food on display in the glass see-through-case, and good smells all around for a deli. This also did not feel like a Satriale’s(from the fictionalized television show«The Sopranos» aired on HBO) since I did not fear for my life and tremble at any point, like I would at a Satriale’s. Everyone was too nice-looking and pleasant in their interactions with the customer for me to think any of them would be capable of murder. It was like stepping back into time when a corner deli was a neighborhood deli, not something trying to cut back on quality so far that they give prison-grade meat so they can produce low-quality food more quickly and cheaply so they can profit more. That is how the mega-deli corps and sandwich shops work these days it seems like. However one should note that since it is a down-home, old school place you will be waiting a bit for the food. Sometimes that is good, sometimes it is bad if you are in a rush to get back to the office and a drive-thru would have been a much quicker option. Also if like me you become an extraordinary impatient buddha when you can see and smell delicious food but it is not in your hands and on the way to your mouth just yet. The waiting is the worst part. Hot pastrami on rye: 9⁄10 Pickle: 9.1÷10 Knish: 6.9÷10 because it was totally different from how my family makes them. First off, it was huge. I gave half to a coworker and still I could not come close to finishing my half. The inside potato was more crumbly than my family makes it, we typically like it more creamy than crumbly. The crust was also very thick and hard to cut whereas we like it less thick and very buttery soft to cut into so it is easy to half-it, rather than hacking and slashing trying to half it and split it with a gentile who didn’t even know what a knish was until two minutes ago. All in all a great lunch spot.
