Good Mexican can be surprisingly hard to find. It’s either Mexicantown-amazing, trendy-overpriced-square-plate-chic, or terrible. Sometimes you want that high-quality, moderately-priced, Pacifico-on-draught, we-genuinely-care Mexican. I found it, and it’s in Clawson. The service is muy bueno. They have standard dishes you like, and many with very original twists that I haven’t seen anywhere else. House made guac, salsa, chili, and you can tell because it’s fresh and delicious.

Love going… great margaritas. It’s a great go to when you need a quick eat out without burning up your wallet and putting on your best wear. Comfortable, quick, and good. It’s my go to place when the work day doesn’t go well and a cold refreshing margarita will help put it all behind me. Where Royal Oak greets you with a wait, this is a nice option for walk in and eat. Thanks for being there when I need to change the direction of a bad day.

I don’t really like Mexican food but i have to say I loved their salsa and chimichangas! If you’re looking for an appetizers get the queso… it was amazing!

Our trip to Mojave started out well enough — our server was very friendly and efficient, and the salsa and chips she brought were just fine(begging to differ with previous Unilocalers, who wanted more salt on the chips and complained about their«storebought» taste: really, what did you expect here — little elderly mamacitas pounding out the tortillas on their laps? Come on.). After the apps, unfortunately, things took a downhill slide. The co-diner had chicken & cheese enchiladas with poblano sauce, while I had the same type of enchilada with a different sauce. Both were, sadly, quite tasteless. Having made poblano sauce at home, we relish the real thing, properly made. This did not fit the bill. Guess our search for good, nearby(Oakland County) Mexican comida will have to continue.

I ate here recently because I saw on the News that they were rated highly in the metro area. I ordered the dish that had a taco, enchilada, chimichanga, rice and beans. The food wasn’t very authentic but it was tasty. The rice was horrible but the beans were ok. I’m Mexican and unfortunately, the food was not up to par. Gr8 gringo food?

Went here for lunch yesterday. Food is a 10, service is 5. The employees are aloof and disorganized. Go for the food, but be patient!

Decent Mexican joint in Clawson. The menu has a handful of vegetarian friendly options. Dined here recently and got the trio of guacamole, queso and pineapple mango salsa. The guacamole was just ok, but I was digging the queso. The real star here was the pineapple mango salsa, which was sweet and spicy and tasted amazing with some salty tortilla chips. The vegetarian tacos were pretty ok. The beans and rice they were served with were plentiful but lacked a little needed flavor. The drinks were pretty sugary and the liquor used in them wasn’t top shelf by anyone’s standards. It made having just one very easy. You can supersize your cocktail and they basically bring you a huge bowl full of margarita with a straw in it. Save your money, unless you like sugary hangovers I guess. The interior was large and they have a large bar area, and plenty of tvs in the event you don’t feel like speaking with your date. Service was attentive and we were able to be seated right away at 7 pm on a Saturday night, so no complaints there! I’ll be revisiting, if only for the salsa.

Passed this place up bunch of times. Out cruising on Saturday night for a late dinner and driving by again why not stop give it a try. Well the wife hated it, the food for her was a big miss. Me I’m not so picky and thought it was typical Mexican, but she was complaining and gripping about her food, she’s a veggie and the waiter didn’t know if the beans we’re veggie or not and the choices for her weren’t all that good. She said what she did get had a funny taste and was no bueno, so off the list. Yea sucks for me I kind of liked the place, nice inside good service but not good enough to fight for, so some times you gotta let it go.

The place has really gone down hill in my opinion. Two visits in a row where the kitchen just could not get things right. Tonight I asked for no sour cream on my meal, after a very long wait my meal came but it came with sour cream. They refired the dish but instead of chicken chimichanga I got a bean chimichanga. Waitress was apologetic and said the kitchen was crazy. I’m not interested in having such a hit and miss experience when all I want to do is have a quick meal out. I will not be back, getting hard to find a good place to eat anymore.

Nice place and I thought the salsa was excellent. I had a quesadilla with chicken, bacon and chorizo that was very good. My husband’s mexican pizza looked disappointing but he seemed to enjoy it. I didn’t like the rice that came with the dishes. We’ll be back for sure.

So our favorite spot close to home with Tex Mexican food. Here is the breakdown: free parking, very short wait, decent menu, fresh salad, average chips and salsa, limited bar, and good staff. I am not the Duke for nothing! And when I asked at 705 to turn on the Tigers, they were all over it.

Very great authentic Mexican food restaurant. I had a banana and then an apple cider Margarita and they were great! I also had the stream quesidilla that was so filling. The staff was also extremely friendly to go along with the comfortable feeling inside the restaurant. Would definitely return.

Had high hopes, but left disappointed The good: The salsa, refried beans The bad: The chips tasted store bought and lacked salt(trend with this place) and didn’t taste like much. I got the steak fajitas. My wife got the enchiladas. Food arrived the steak was rubbery and oddly tasted like it was reheated. Even looking at it you could tell it was cut into strips from something like a rump roast. No color on it just a sad grey… It also didn’t taste like anything. The peppers and onions were good, but when you put everything into the tortilla all you could taste was the corn tortilla. The beans were good but you can tell they are from a can. As others have said the rice is definitely from a box or something like that. It reminds me of that rice in a pouch that you hear up in a microwave. I didn’t try my wife’s food but she said it was just ok. ll in all everything seemed to be premise or store bought. We probably won’t be back where there are so many other good Mexican places.

Mojave has some decent Mexican food and it’s not the crazy busy scene you’d get downtown Royal Oak at Cantina Diablos. I enjoyed sitting outside on a nice summer evening having some sangria and burritos. Their chips and salsa were really fresh and tasty. My only negative comment would be the fact that there was no fruit in the sangria, which is kind of what makes it a sangria. But not a deal breaker. My burrito and rice and beans were very good and our server was diaper friendly.

When I lived in Clawson this was a favorite of mine because I could walk from home. The drinks are good with a great selection of margaritas, the food is good and so is the service. Family owned with pride and it shows. There is plenty of room and a nice bar to sit at with TVs if you like that. Did I mention the endless chips and salsa? Their tortilla soup is awesome, as is their wet burrito. Generous portions so I always end up with a box.

Pass… We eat out a lot and have tried a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area. This one was disappointing. My bf wanted to check this new place out. Nice restaurant/bar area/outdoor seating. Cute décor, large TVs around the restaurant. Location is great. Ample parking. To start off with, we ordered the special bacon guacamole– it wasn’t anything special. Tasted better mixed with the salsa. Chips were good. BF ordered the $ 18.50 steak tampiquena– it was too chewy and his meal was disappointing. The chicken enchilada on the plate was good though. The regular guacamole had too much lemon/lime juice. My BF had to scrape it off his plate so it wouldn’t touch anything else. That’s how much he didn’t like it.(And we both usually LOVE guacamole.) Refried beans were too salty. The rice tasted like it came out of a box. Lucky me, I got the carnitas special for $ 12. The pineapple mango salsa made it was sooooo good! If we ever came back, it would only be for that dish. And that’s why they got a 2 star and not a 1. Waitress– didn’t know the tequilas, didn’t know the specials, I had to wait 2x for over 5min for drink refills(ps– other waitresses saw my empty cup but didn’t do anything about it), forgot a set of tortillas(waitress said they were still cooking them, LOL) and my veggies(which came way late during my meal), and then forgot to bring the bag we asked for for our to go containers. BF wants me to add that the steak knife had to be asked for to go with his steak. We have both waited tables, we think she needs some training. :)

Service and seating: seated very promptly and at a table outside like we requested. Waiter was funny and went beyond the normal call of duty as filling up our drinks, bringing is chips and answering questions on the menu items. The waiter brought two different sized boxes and let my mom select which one she would prefer and was exceedingly professional in every aspect of his job. Food: The chips and salsa were endless and pretty good. The chips were a little thin but had good taste and texture. I ordered the beef quesadilla and it was delicious. The beans given on the side for no added charge were delicious as well. Overall the restaurant was very good and exceeded my expectations on every level. If you’re in the Clawson area and in the mood for Mexican I would definitely suggest this restaurant to you.

Went here when they opened at 11am and waited for someone to greet us. We noticed someone sweeping the floor and asked if they are open. He ignored us and went into the kitchen — a few moments later a gentleman asked what time it was and when we told him 11am he said«No, we are not open — we have a cook here but no server» So, we left. We ended up walking to another restaurant that was open and running…

$ 25 carafe of margaritas. Equal to 8 or 10 highball sized glasses. We sat at the bar, service was good, with chips and salsa freely delivered.
