Awesome place. have always liked Moruccis in WC but I think this place just surpassed them! Small in size. but Yuuuge on goodness! This place rocks and is worth the drive out to Clayton!

Customer service alone gets 5 stars. Super busy today. People ordering more than 6 sandwiches at a time ahead of me. They were all smiles and didn’t seem overwhelmed at all. I love their sandwiches(current fave is Fredo) and it’s well worth the wait, which wasn’t that long considering they were making so many at a time. I’m also a huge fan of the potato salad. Customer for life.

Delicious. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever tasted. We we’re near by picking up my eyeglasses and looking for some grub. I searched Unilocal and found this place with 4+ stars. I looked at the photo’s and it looked good. At first we were overwhelmed by the menu, so many things looked good. I was excited to see many sandwiches with roasted red peppers. I had #2. The bread was so soft and the whole sandwich was like cutting through butter, so soft, so yummy.

Great sandwich place, tried just about everyone in the in Clayton/Concord area and this is easily the best. Nice selection and really thought out combinations that work. Meat is sliced to order and is premium quality. Bread is fresh, just a bit of crunch but still soft. Staff is friendly and efficient and very clean, saw them wiping down the workstation after each sandwich. Can’t imagine why anyone would go to Subway for their nasty meat that’s been sitting around for hours made by somebody who could care less when you can go to this place and have a terrific sandwich made by someone who takes pride in what they do.

i’m on an unofficial quest. find the best bay area sandwich. the Stromboli has yet to be dethroned. it’s so good. perfect blend of taste and texture. it’s a party in your mouth and everyone is invited. full disclosure, i’ve only eaten maybe four of their sandwiches, and i have yet to be food bored. (Psst — i’ve heard rumbling of a pastrami sandwich in the northbay that i need to investigate. but i dont hold out much hope.) i’m moving north. two things i’m keeping. my dentist, and Canesa’s. i hope to schedule my teeth cleaning to end right around lunch time. the Staff is fun. young and energetic. the shop is kinda small, but whatever. i eat outside at a picnic table or on the tailgate of my truck. TIP: eat there with a friend. that way you can order a different sandwich and swap half sandwiches. as a middle child, it is burned into my mind to quickly evaluate which half is bigger, and schooch the smaller side out first. just kidding!

I finally paid a visit to this local spot for a late lunch. I was undecided on which sandwich to order but I knew I wanted a toasted one. So the gentleman in front was kind enough to help me by suggesting that I try their most popular toasted sandwich, the Vinny’s Stromboli. It’s s big sandwich but the meat wasn’t that plentiful. There was, however, plenty of tomatoes and red peppers. I thought it was tasty but after a few bites, I needed to pick off the tomatoes and red peppers. I liked the bread and the crunchy texture with melted cheese. They don’t offer a selection of bread, and no dutch crunch, ever, as their sign says. I may return to try other toasted sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, etc. I really do miss Roxie’s deli in SF where they toast just about any sandwich you want. I’ll have to try other sandwiches here to see if they can come close.

This is a very small sandwich shop, with very big New York pride. They have a pretty decent menu with a lot of delicious sounding options. I went for The Godfather. A large roll stuffed with Prosciutto, sweet Capicola, fresh Mozzarella, and tomato salad on top. The entire sandwich is toasted, and even though I’m not a giant fan of toasted sandwiches, it really worked on this one. The sandwich was amazing. I loved the addition of fresh Basil, giving it that real Italian taste. The roll tasted like pretzel bread, buttery and a little salty, which definitely elevated the sandwich. For only $ 9.50 this sandwich was most definitely worth every penny.

Mrs D & I, enjoyed a Vinny s Stromboli(#6)last weekend after walking through the Farmer’s market in Clayton. The sammy was packed with pepperoni, Genoa salami, red peppers & what they call tomato salad. They use olive oil, no mayo or mustard, Brooklyn Style yo. The highlight is the fresh toasted roll, soft but still crunchy. Supper yummy. Big enough to split. Friendly gal running the counter & a 1130 am, the crowd was starting on a Saturday afternoon.

Love this spot! My boyfriend and I found this place on a whim and have been here almost every weekend since. We make it a point to come here when we’re in town. Definitely a place to come back to not just for the food but the great service. The people here are super friendly.

Tasted the Cool Hand Luke and had Vinny’s Stromboli. The bit of the Cool Hand Luke I had was juicy with a good amount of pastrami on it. When eating Vinny’s Stromboli definitely have a few napkins on hand. The tomato salad and peppers are super juicy and fresh I think they make the sandwich. It comes with salami, pepperoni, and ham(a little too much ham in my opinion) which is a great combo with the gooey cheese. Both sandwiches were rather large I could not finish it, may get a half and a side next time. The sandwiches can take some time to come out, that is what happens when you order quality food. If you want fast and mediocer go to Burger King.

I ordered the stromboli sub(how could I not when it’s the customer favorite?) and I can definitely see why it’s popular. I ordered it as is with no additional toppings, and I’ll tell ya, it doesn’t need anything else. The meats, melted cheese, and delicious tomato salad are the perfect combination. I’ll say that I thought the sandwich was a tad on the pricey side($ 9) but for the value and taste, I can deal. Can’t wait to try other sandwiches there!

Great service and great food! Get it to go or eat at the park! It’s a hole in the wall but that’s okay!

The bread is super soft and the meats are very fresh, the meatball parm is one of our favorites. The service is great and the staff is friendly. We go at least one a week.

A little piece of Brooklyn, right in Downtown Clayton, of all places! I had been waiting for the opportunity to remember that this place even existed and to try it out at some point. I had the opportunity this past week, not once, but twice! Let me just say that I was excited to see authentic pork roll in the fridge; a delightful little loaf of processed pork with more preservatives than a slice of bologna that you cook on a grill or a stove top(remember to slice the edges, otherwise it’ll curl!) and eat it atop a hot bun with a yummy fried egg or some ketchup. Unhealthy, but oh so yummy. The staff is even more authentic. Pure Brooklyn soul is reflected in their art and signs that tell off Whiney Unilocalers. You want a «customer is always right» attitude? This is not the place for you. Straightforward as their sandwiches. And I love that! Why? Because you won’t get any fake attitude from these guys. You might be expecting that they’re a mean«no soup for you» kind of staff, but I was impressed by how friendly they were! Now to the food. I have now tried Vinny’s Stromboli and Gino’s Special. Both are perfect! You get both the ambiance and the flavor at this place! I highly recommend! Support your local businesses and go here!

Excellent food! Would certainly go back. I love it when I find great local places. I had the pastrami sandwich which had plenty of meat and was pretty big. The pastrami hardly had any fat and was served nice and hot. I would probably order it without peppers next time even though I love peppers.

3.5 We got the buffalo sandwich, godfather, and the turkey ham. All the sandwiches were decent — the best part being the bread… cripsy and light… not old and hard at all! Too bad it took a while to get our sandwiches. We waited for 15 – 20 minutes on the tables outside. It was a nice beautiful day to just hangout since we had nowhere to go, but any other day I might be a little annoyed.

Authentic Brooklyn sandwiches from an owner with an equally authentic New York personality! This small town«hole in the wall» Sandwich shop is absolutely delicious with a wide variety of choices to fit every picky eater’s desire. The staff is friendly and there’s a TV to watch sports while waiting for your hand-crafted meal. I absolutely love this place and am so glad they’ve returned to Clayton!
