Chicken Quesadilla’s are very good. The cheese one wasn’t so great because the cheese wasn’t all the way melted. Pork burrito was good. They were out of tres Leche, which was a disappointment.

Went one night on date with my wife. service was average at best food was«promising». So we tried again. Service awful. Waited 12 minutes until someone came over and she claimed she was busy. There were 4 tables. 1 large one not being hers. I ordered enchiladas ranchoes. The beef was sour(bad tasting) and the steak on the nachos was very tough. WEWILLNOT be back.

TERRIBLE!!! I’m not sure was happened to Festejo’s. It use to be really good but the last few times we ate there it was not good. I guess we are hoping they might redeem their selves but tonight was it. It seems like every time we go they have new management. The cheese in my quesadilla was MOZZARELLA cheese and it wasn’t melted!!! Since when dows a mexican restaurant serve mozzarella cheese… did they think we would not notice??? My shrimp was tough like it had been reheated and our bill was wrong. We will not return!

The food here is better if you eat In house, but they do offer take out. The service could go either way, it’s either very quick or extremely slow. The food is decent, tastes like most Mexican restaurants around here. The parking lot is dark.

Surprisingly great food for the price. Tastes like home made goodness. Very friendly staff and the restaurant is very kid friendly. Margaritas are half price every Wed and Thu. This has become one of our local favorites.

We love coming here. We found this place when our other favorite Mexican restaurant as packed and we didn’t want to wait. I am so glad we did. We come here now more than our previous favorite restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. It is authentic. The cheese dip and salsa is fantastic. The service is always friendly. I have had several dishes here and I have never been disappointed.

The food was good but the service sucked. I’m not going to judge though by our server because the other servers were great to their customers but ours didn’t say three words to us the whole time. We got our food and finished and we wanted fried ice cream. With our waitress nowhere in sight we finally flagged another one down after being done with our food for over 15 minutes.

Food is great. Not the widest variety of menu options, but they get my opinion of best restaurant salsa! Clean facilities there. Make sure to try the one of a kind tres leches cake!

The food here is either great or mediocre. The biggest problems I have had here are service related. I have had extremely poor service numerous times, and twice I have had incorrect bills(items not even ordered — or written incorrectly) that the staff refused to fix. With better customer service and more consistency from the kitchen this restaurant could be a stand out in Clayton.

The food was fantastic and worth checking out if you haven’t. The entertainment … Well it was entertaining to say the least. I’ll be back on my next visit to the area.

Ate here for the first time last night with my husband, son, and my mom. The service after we got immedately seated was a bit slow for a Mexican restaurant. We ordered some nachos for appetizer. The onions on it were a hefty size lol but flavor was good. For a meal i got carnitas. There was no crunchy peices on the carnitas that you normally see. Pretty good taste and I loved the rice. It had great seasonings and it had corn in it. My mother got a chicken quesadilla. She said her chicken was dry and it had all the cheese at one end. My husband had what was called a macho burrito. He said his was good but it did kinda just taste like everything was just kept on a steam table until it was used up. Overall, the flavor was good, atmosphere was typical of pretty much any Mexican restaurant, service wasn’t terrible, and I get the feeling we might give this place another go in the future

My first time here. I’m impressed! I got the Nachos Fajitas. When it came out it looked enormous! I thought it was big enough for two! I knew I’d be taking home leftovers. I started eating and it was so good that I just kept going, even after I probably should have stopped. I didn’t even end up with any to take home! I’m stuffed, but happy!

Found them from Unilocal reviews and I’m glad I did. The place was clean the service was fine and the décor is what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant. Nothing outstanding in these areas but when the food came I became an instant fan and just had to spread the word. I had the Tamale and Chile Relleno. The Tamale was spot on the masa was perfectly cooked not dry nor mushy. The Chile Relleno was the best I’ve ever had and that is my favorite Mexican dish so I try them at every Mexican restaurant I go to. I would really like to try some other items from the menu but this was so good I know I’ll have it again and again. I will try their tableside Guacamole next time for sure. The table near us ordered it and it looked amazing and was a huge portion.

The Mrs. & I tried the sampler appetizer which was more food than expected. The chicken taquitos had chicken chunks in them, not the canned shredded chicken breast some restaurants use. The Mecican pizza was delicious and all fresh ingredients. We then optioned to split a fajita. The chicken, steak & shrimp was the choice which came with Mexican rice, beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo fixings with choice of flour or corn tortillas. My picky wife had only compliments as everything was fresh & not over spiced. The beans I did not care for, and steak a tad bit overcooked. But for 25 dollars(we had lemon water) we were both very satisfied and even had left overs! I will definitely return without hesitation. Service was fast & polite…

Festejos is one of the better Tex-Mex restaurants in Clayton(and in the surrounding area). Basically, it’s Mexican food for the folks who are inbetween buying from the authentic taco joint around the corner, and those who have outgrown the gringo joints like Fiesta Mexicana and La Cucina. They have the standards, if you have someone that doesn’t want to venture far from the average fare. Then, there’s the deeper menu, with items that are far closer to authentic food you’d get a party with some Mexican friends. You can get guacamole made tableside, along with really great dishes like the Emiliano Zapato, which includes grilled cactus, cheese, sausage, pork, chicken and ribeye. While the Zapato isn’t as big as it used to be(rising prices on meat), it’s still one step closer to truly authentic Mexican food. If you’re into good Mexican food, but aren’t into specialties like beef tongue or tripe, then this is the place for you.

We found this gem as a result of Unilocal! We were down in Clayton and it was getting late. We didn’t want to go home and make dinner so I looked for some recommendations and found Festejos. I’m so glad we did. I don’t know who/why some of the reviews complained about the service but ours was terrific. Be sure to order the guacamole made right at your table… You’ll be glad you did. Fun place to eat ~ great fresh food ~ and great service!

There are many Mexican restaurants around Johnston County. This, IMO, is the best. I have been many times, and the only variation I have experienced is wait time/staffing on certain days seems strained. I don’t mind the wait. Great guac as has been stated in other reviews. The empanadas are amazing, as are the cochintas pibil, carnitas, and chilaquiles.
