I love to visit Smithfield’s whenever I’m in the area. It’s classic NC vinegar based BBQ(pulled pork). They have all the standard southern sides: baked beans, fries, hush puppies, slaw. They also have delicious Brunswick stew, BBQ chicken and fried chicken. And let’s not forget some of the sweetest tea around. It’s a step above fast food so don’t expect much more. However, the inside dining area is super clean and the staff are so nice and friendly.

Smithfield’s is a very local NCBBQ joint. They have vinegar based BBQ, but they are so light in the suave that the pulled pork is basically naked meat with slaw and a bun.

It was recommended by a local last week while I was there on vacation. You shouldn’t put BBQ in your name if you serve pulled pork. Shredding a roast isn’t BBQ. Granted, I come from BBQ country so I didn’t expect great… but I expected it to be in the same food category. In fairness NC had some awesome seafood on the Outer Banks, but seriously Smithfield… stick to the chicken.

This place has some of the nicest staff that you will find anywhere. It’s very nice and clean on the inside and you don’t have to spend all day sitting in the drive thru. I never have any problems ordering and the food is always delicious.

This place has been around for over 20 years and I love going there! The BBQ is always flavorful and you always get a TON if fries! The hot dog are the BEST and if you get one you have to get it with chili and slaw ! Yummy! When you go in and eat they bring the food to you and keep your drinks refilled! Great place to eat on or go through the drive thru!

This place is consistent and they have a number of locations. They do the chopped barbeque, slaw and hush puppies nicely. It is not the best Eastern NC barbeque, but is good, consistent, and they serve you quickly in a fast food format.

I love the vinegar based sauce and the sandwiches. If I could give this 10 stars, I WOULD! One place I wish would be in Texas, because it’s so amazing! I can’t wait for my next trip back to North Carolina ;)

Stopped in for a late lunch. For whatever reason I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which I dislike in the area because of the vinegar base. The sandwich which was topped with a cole slaw was really good. I ordered the large diet soda but received a regular coke instead which annoyed me. But stay away from the large it was huge! The Mrs. Ordered the chicken finger platter(FF) in which we were informed would be about 8 minutes if we did not mind waiting. The Chicken was really good & really hot temperature wise. The order was exactly eight minutes as stated and the FF were hot & really good thin stringed ones. The chicken breading did remind me of KFC but was much better than Bojangles &KFC. It was my first visit here and will try other items as well next time. I was pleasantly surprised !

This place was Ok. Very nice staff and very clean restaurant. The BBQ sandwich really had no flavor. Kinda dry and I needed to add a ton of sauce. The coleslaw was from a bag. Again, nothing was bad, but it just wasn’t impressive in a BBQ heavy state.

Standard eastern NCBBQ. Very clean store and good service.
