I have been shopping at Owens meat for years. Their cuts of meat are the best. Of course always enjoy their pepperoni. Now you can get them after hours in new vending machine. It worth a special trip to try their products. They do get busy on weekends but reminds me of Seattle fish market atmosphere.

When it comes to Owens Meats… they just can’t be beat! Um…wait…you know what I mean. A group of us were making a dinner for 20-something people that consisted of chorizo tostadas, pico, guac, and a salad. Where would we possibly find chorizo in Cle Elum? To our surprise, the Safeway had some… but we’re not exactly… grocery store chorizo kind of people. We saw Owens on our drive to grab some groceries and decided to stop. They didn’t have chorizo on hand… but they said they could make it for us. We came back and picked it up a couple days later… and at a decent price too! The store has a huge counter with tons of meat offerings. If they don’t have it, they’ll make it for you. Opposite the counter, are shelves that have all sorts of hot sauces, salsas, jams, jellies, bbq sauces, preserves, pickled these and pickled those. Great layout with great offerings! Eight pounds of chorizo later and we were off for a fantastic dinner and fun times. Thanks for taking care of your«out-of-towners!» You never know when we’ll be back. We will be visiting Owens if we ever are!

I have been going to Owens meats since 1970 and I have never been disappointed. Last year my son wanted prime rib for our annual Thanksgiving dinner, So since we live in Auburn Wa we went to Green river meats, Wow did they want a lot of money for their prime rib. So I called Owens meat and told them what I was wanting and they gave a price that was half as much as green river meats. So needless to say we jumped into our car drove over to Cle Elum and the wonderful young women that I had talked to on the phone had my order all cut and ready I have work with the brothers for years and they have always been class acts I want to thank this young women she must be a granddaughter on my way over to buy about 100 $ worth of meat now by the way even after fueling my wife’s car and driving over to Cle Elum we saved 50 bucks we end up with more meat also. Once a year I drive wherever and buy several hundred $ of meat I stay away from Green river meats because their prices are to high and their meat is not that great. same goes for Stewart meats. once in awhile I do buy meat at Savana meats, my place of choice is Butcher boy on 4th plain in Vancouver and White’s old country meat on Kane Rd in Gresham Or. I’LL be there this week time to buy meat.

Yum yum yum! Haven’t found a bad thing yet. Bacon, cheese stuffed pepperoni, steaks and summer sausage with jalepenos. Jalepeno cheese dip is my new bad habit! Had the rib eye steak last night and it was delicious. Looking forward to trying their hamburger for a big party in a couple of weeks. I think it’s only $ 3.99 lb.

Their prices, customer service, and products are unbeatable! The Owens family clearly cares about their customers and employees which is hard to find in today’s day and age. I’m used to quality meats and Owens Meats always sets the bar. I load up whenever I stop at their shop in Cle Elum or when I’m at one of their many vending machines. Thanks for being awesome guys!

I absolutely love the meats vending machine! I stopped on my way back to Seattle pretty late(11:30 pm). It’s pretty dark… Maybe consider some outdoor lighting?

Not only is the meat selection and quality incredible but the customer service is top notch! I bought a pound of beef jerky and failed to refrigerate it(as it says I should on the bag) it was totally my fault but they went above and beyond to help me out! It’s completely worth the 45 minute drive for us to visit Owen’s!

You know a butcher shops jerky is good when there is only 1 option. Pepper. It is amazing! I also got a couple yards of pepperoni. Very good also. Awesome stop on the way to the Tri-Cities.

We have a second home in Roslyn/Cle Elum and enjoy a treat from Owens every time we’re up. In fact we call it the meat candy store. Their meats are out of this world and the service is spectacular. Tour buses literally drive to cle Elum just to stop at Owens. When we first moved here I thought the first tour bus I saw was a fluke. Nope. Happens all the time. If you haven’t been there, what are you waiting for?

This is my Graceland! You know that one store that you HAVE to stop at every time you drive by? Owens Meats is now that place for me! Everything in here is amazing!!! They’ve got just about anything you want meat related, a lot of cheese options, a ton of beer choices. This was my first trip to Owens and I ended up leaving with a LOT of meat. I picked up the following: Smoked Porkchops — Get some of these! They are about 80% cooked and 100% delicious. All you have to do is warm them up and chow them down. I will pick some of them up every time I stop in. They are relatively cheap and are probably the best bang for the buck. Highly recommend! Bacon — They slice it how you want it. In my cake, THICK. Some of the better bacon that i’ve had… and I’ve been to Baconfest in Iowa on three separate occasions… Kansas City Bacon — A fantastic, slightly leaner type of bacon. Very good and worth a try. Beef Jerkey — This barely made it home. Holy. Crap. This. Is. Good! Beef Sticks — They have a couple options. I recommend getting at least a yard of it… and get the one with cheese in it, unless you don’t like freedom. Smoked Flagship Cheese — I’m not sure if they cold smoke this in house or if it come from beecher’s Cheese like this. Either way, it’s wild. Get it for you next get-together and you’ll have a room full of happy people! While this was my first trip here, I’ve eaten several steaks from here — all were exceptional. If you can shell out the money, get some prime steaks and cook them medium rare. They don’t come cheap, but there are few things in this world that are more delicious! Next time you are driving by, do yourself a favor and stop in! This place can get really busy in the weekends, so plan accordingly.

Owen’s jerky isn’t finger licking good, it’s eat your fingers off good! I actually liked the turkey jerky more than the beef jerky. It was freshly made and still wet on the outside from the smoker. The most flavorful turkey I have ever had! The beef jerky was super tender and thick cut. Both were heavily peppered. I wish this place would franchise out and put a location in Seattle! I want one closer! They are a full butcher, so you can go for steaks and ground meats. They also do smoked sausages, homemade pepperoni, and yard-long pepperoni sticks for only $ 2.25. I’m dying to try their house made bacon!

The Candy Store for the Carnivore! Been getting their beef jerky since I was born. I used to like the pepperoni, but not so much anymore. Every trip out I-90 includes a stop here. Tradition.

Stopped in on a motorcycle ride and picked up some jerky. It was said to be great and they had a sandwich board out front the gave some claim to its reknown worldwide. The flavor was good, but it was more like really dry beef roast. Jerky as I am aware of should require a little ‘jerk’ to tear a piece off. This had way to much moisture and was easily bitten through, and it requires refigeration to prevent mold within 4 days. It may be the best around Cle Elum, but for $ 20/lb, definitely not worth it in my opinion. On the positive the summer sausage was not bad, a little fatty but not too bad and the smoked polish was pretty good also.

If you’re going anywhere near Cle Elum while driving through WA, you’d be a moron not to stop here. I know that sounds hard but the truth hurts ;) More than just an excellent and historic small town butcher shop, Owen’s has baked goods, pastas, pickles, and all kinds of sauces and canned goods lined up along the back wall. But of course most people are here for the meat! And this other stuff is just to accessorize your meat meal. My fiancé and I popped by Owen’s recently and bought some gorgeous steaks, salami and bread to take home and toss on our new grill. The service was quick even though the shop was packed and while we waited in line I had a grand olé time admiring the original photos along the wall. This place has been open over 125 years! It’s just incredible to see how it’s changed in so many ways and how in others it’s remained so much the same. I’m literally in awe of this place and how cool it is. My grandfather(who’d be about 110 now if he were alive) was a small town butcher where I grew up. Probably like Owen’s, his shop was the only one for miles and miles back in the teens and twenties. It made me smile and think of him fondly and wonder if his shop was this cool. By the time I was born he was long retired and the shop was long gone, so I have no idea. The quality of the meat here is great, of course and the prices are just what you’d expect for local, fresh, great quality product.

I hesitate to call my affliction a «meat problem» but I know my way around all things carnivore. This place is special. Thankfully I have family in Ellensburg that visits often, so they can get me my monthly fix. When that doesn’t work the store will mail whatever you need. Family owned and some of the best meat you can buy.

Owens Meats is a must if you are driving by within a 500 mile radius. I’m serious. Make the trip! If you visit on a weekend, then be prepared to wait about 10 minutes because it is jam-packed due to its popularity. For example, on Sunday there had to be 40 people there at any one time. It’s a great experience and well worth the wait. We bought two 2lb-packs of the Tri Tip(in Zinfandel marinade), a package of Lite German Brats, two bottles of sauce, a package of rub and six packages of various scone and biscuit mixes. We grilled the Tri Tip and Brats on Memorial Day and the flavors were fantastic. We can’t wait to go back in June!

Every time I’m in Cle Elum, I always make a stop at Owen’s Meats. They really have the best quality meats. When I first came here, I thought it was ridiculous that anyone would ever buy a pound of beef jerky for 20 bucks — but that was before I tried it. Until I had my first taste did I realize that it’s totally worth the money. Now, I always buy two-pounds worth.(I figure since I don’t live nearby, it’s just a special treat for myself.) I highly recommend getting the jerky. And there is a turkey option if you don’t prefer beef. Just remember that with the jerky, it needs to be refrigerated. In my last visit, I also purchased a pound of the cheddar bratwurst. I made it for dinner last night and it was sooo good. The flavor was really meaty, juicy and the cheddar cheese was delicious. I love this place!(So glad I don’t live nearby otherwise I would be broke.)

Absolutely fantastic butcher shop for any type of meat you could ever want: beef, chicken, turkey, pork, lamb, and more. Yes, as others have noted, the beef jerky is great– but what’s even better is the TURKEY jerky. I’ve also cooked with their lamb before as it’s some of the most tender(and affordable) I’ve ever had. Whether you’re headed to or from Seattle, Spokane, Ellensburg, Leavenworth, or Tri-Cities, you MUST stop in here!
