I’m not going to tell you not to play here because it’s really not a bad course overall. Easy to play with some decent views. But, it’s not a $ 100 per round course(most comparable courses are $ 60 tops). Some of the greens were tough to play due to all of the branches and needles that had come off the trees because of the wind the day before. It would have been easy to get leaf blower out there in the morning to clean the few that had this issue. That’s one reason why it’s not worth the $ 100. People in the pro shop/bar/café were all friendly and courteous.

Just played Suncadia’s Rope Rider course. Excellent design given that the other public course, Prospector, is much more difficult. I can now bring my wife and some other higher handicap friends and they will have an excellent experience. This is the way to design a resort course. Very nice. Very playable. Would definitely play it again. I am a 9 handicap and played with a couple 25+ and a beginner. The higher handicappers really enjoyed playing on a beautiful golf course and not being punished. It was plenty enough challenge. I can back up a tee box or two and it will be all I can chew. The Prospector course is much more difficult. Higher handicappers will get beat up pretty bad on that course.

Recently opened, so only honey buckets are out on the course. No ball washing stations or water cooler. Greens are near perfect and fairways are great. The tee boxes could be cut a little more uniformly and they are full rocks which can make inserting you tee difficult. The front nine plays short. The back nine is much more difficult that the front and if the wind picks up it becomes a monster, for instance a 220 yes par3 followed by a 487yd par 4 . And there are fairway bunkers everywhere. Still a little rough around the edges but it’s coming along and the scenery is beautiful.

The course is still not ready for prime time. But the greens fees are. The course is second to Prospector. Lacks simple things like hole markers. Two garbage cans on the whole course. Sani cans. This review would be entirely different if they advertised that the course was nearing completion and greens fees were at introductory rates and to please be patient while being finished The over all design is ok but not as fun, beautiful or as challenging as many other courses, including Prospector. Lunch was stale bread turkey sandwhich. Bloody Marys were great! Doubt we will try it again. Too many other nice courses within an hour to an hour and a half drive at comparable prices, maybe even better for the value.
