Visited Sugarpuddin’s last night for some takeout and loved everything about this place. The people were super nice and positive. My wife is allergic to gluten and had never tried southern sides, so they brought over a few samples for her to try. As far as the food goes, everything was perfect. By far the best BBQ I’ve had in the NJ/PA/DE area. I ordered the St. Louis Ribs with beans, corn on the cob, and a corn bread muffin. The corn bread muffin actually has pieces of sweet corn in it, which I’d never had before but was outstanding. Beans were excellent. Corn on the cob had a lot of delicious butter and it tasted smokey, so I’m assuming it was smoked at some point. And then the RIBS! Really amazing. If I recall correctly, Ms Carla mentioned she smokes the meats for 14 hours everyday. I ended up with a full rack just for myself and saved a little bit for tacos the next day. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’d like to have good BBQ in NJ.

Quaint, casual space. Really good soul food. Decent prices. Awesome service! When I walked in, the waitress immediately greeted me and asked if it was my first time visiting them. When I said yes, she prepared samples of three sides for me to taste, and offered to allow me to sample any other side on the menu. I intended to go to another soul food spot for takeout tonight, but it was closed. I actually had no idea this place what here! What a fortunate turn of events!

Great service and amazing food! I just went here for the first time and everything that I ate was delicious. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I was immediately offered samples of some of the sides– potato salad, greens, & baked beans. Yum! I ordered the pork BBQ with mac & cheese and coleslaw(wanted to get a taste of as many sides as possible). The mac & cheese was moist and tasty. The coleslaw was crisp and the pork was nicely done. My friend had brisket which I never normally order, but upon trying hers, I will definitely get that next time! I thought that my dish was delicious, but I must say, the brisket is even better! Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant! …to address a few other things, the restaurant itself is very clean. I love the music they played! It is a bit tricky to find, so if you are driving there, look for the Wine-O-Land spot across the street as a marker. The owner came over to personally inquire about how the meal was. She was incredibly sweet and friendly! I’m so happy to see a woman business owner making her dreams come true. I will be back!

My husband and I have been looking for a long time for a good bbq place… and now, we’ve found a great one! Food was delicious, service was great and the price was good for the amount of food… I’m picky about my mac and cheese, but Sugarpuddin’s got it just right… definitely going back!

Terrific food! The greens and baked beans were absolutely delicious. The meat was tender(St. Louis ribs) and just fell off the bone. There was a beautiful smoke to the meat and there was more of it than I could finish. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. This was my first time, but I will be back. PS — The woman who might have been the owner was such a sweet southern lady — she made us feel right at home. Thank you Sugarpuddin’!

Although not cheap. The personal service was excellent, real southern hospitality and cooking. Almost like we were personal guest. The food was very good And all the sides we have were good too.

Ate here with a co worker. We were excited because we love St. Louis ribs. The tropical tea was refreshing & the bbq nachos are a must try. And I can’t say enough about the baked beans. I think about them often. However, the rest of the meal was very disappointing. The ribs were not good. They lacked flavor and tenderness. The collard greens, didn’t contain a lot of collards more mustard. The macaroni and cheese was extremely dry and the coleslaw was unseasoned. Don’t know if I will return. Maybe for the beans and the nachos.

Underwhelming. Right up front — having scoped the place out via their website PDF menu, I ended up with sticker shock when I looked in the restaurant. Some of the prices were dollars different; absurd for a new business. It seems they’ve ditched the copy that was on their site since but that was a real shock. Service was nice. Ordered at the counter and they brought my food when it was ready. The owner took offense to my refusing a sample of her beans — just not my thing. Décor is simple and comfortable and the front house seemed clean and regularly checked. There’s plenty of seating and TV in the dining room if you need that sort of entertainment. The owner seemed to have«office» set up at a table right in front of the counter. «Chopped BBQ» was good but definitely an interpretation of Midwest style pork with red sauce rather than what BBQ pork I’ve personally experienced(mainly NC vinegar and SC mustard-based sauces.) I was disappointed there was no combo with ribs and pork. Mac and cheese was ok but could have been more moist and cheesy. Cole slaw was uninteresting. The deal breaker for me was no beverage options beyond sweet and or flavored iced tea. I couldn’t even get a bottle of water; tap only. Honestly, I almost canceled my order and walked out. I will however, try again and eat their ribs since this appears to be their focus. The location is in a strange/unexpected place for a restaurant. It’s on White Horse Pike, wedged between an empty lot and the motorbike business. If you don’t know it’s there you’ll miss it. Look for«Wine-O-Land» across the street.

Couldn’t ask for a better meal! Went here because it was close and it was a great decision. The food was wonderful and my belly is full. Had ribs and chicken with tons of sides all so delicious! Corn bread, baked beans, mac and cheese, string beans, cole slaw ALL great choices! Dessert was melt in your mouth delicious as well. Cream cheese icing on Red Velvet cake and Chocolate Cake w/chocolate icing need I say more. Were offered complimentary vanilla bean ice cream with dessert. Also the owner brought out some samples to the table for us to try. Sweet tea was great as wast the tropical tea. I will definitely be back. It was nice to have some actual personable service in this fast food/chain restaurant world.

Ordered take out for the first time… Didn’t get my order right, but made up for it with a piece of lemon cake that was to die for! And when we ate the bbq we were pleasantly surprised! Thanks for the great food! Sorry we didn’t come sooner

Over-all it was just ok. Ribs were awsome, dont waste your time with the grilled chicken. My chicken was over-cooked and dried out and tiny for $ 16. was supposed to be half-chicken. Sides were small portions compared to other places i’ve been. mac and cheese was the only side i tried. It was ok, cant say i loved it though. Im very picky with my mac and cheese. corn bread was good, tropical tea was good. my friend ordered the green beans, baked beans and german chocolate cake. I can comment on them because i didnt try it. I just think it was a little high priced for what we got. I would try it again and just get ribs and mac. I was disappointed they didnt have pecan pie which is my favorite. I hope this family-owned business keeps doing well. I’d rather buy from the little guy than from a place like famous daves or somthing like that. i called my order in and the girl on the phone was pleasant and courteous. When i picked up the young lady behind the counter was very nice as wel. I give it 4 stars because i really think it could be awsome. They have their heart and soul in it, i like the inside and atmosphere with ample table space and they were very nice.

Great food and service. Owner/chef comes out to each table to see how things are. Kitchen and smoker is in full view and is very clean as is the dining room. Great value for the price.

We really enjoyed our first trip here. The bbq and catfish were cooked very well. The mac n cheese was delicious. My favorite part was the service and friendly attitudes from everyone working. The décor was somewhat minimal but the positive vibes and clean environment more than made up for the lack of nick nacks and decorations.

I ate here for the second time. Once when they first opened their first week of business and it was excellent. Today not so much I suggested this place for lunch and kind of wished I didnt. I ordered the St. Louis ribs, baked macaroni and collard greens with a piece of corn bread that was extremely hard. For the amount they charge I think the portions should be much larger. My ribs and macaroni were very dry not good at all. I gave two stars for hospitality which was great the waitresses was very nice. But the best part of my meal was the ice tea. I wanted so bad for this place to be good but sorry to say I will not be back

I really wanted to like this place the owner and a couple of the staff I chatted with were really pleasent and friendly I had the chicken wings beef brisket corn bread greens mac n cheese and pecan pie. The wings were so small I think they came from quails. The brisket although tasty had so much fat it would gag a horse if a horse ate brisket. Greens were good as well as mac.& cheese and the pecan pie had about two cups two much sugar. On a return visit I relized the menu has changed but the change was the prices went up(confirmed by the counter girl) but the portions were the same if not smaller. This was on a takeout order were they failed to add my beans in the bag but charged me all the same. I do wish the place luck but they lost my business for sure. I expect more for my money and they are way to overpriced in my opinion.

A big fat Meh… I wanna say a 2.5 really. The portions are small, the prices are high, and the décor kinda feels like an office. The food wasn’t bad, but for the same price(or cheaper sometimes) Rochesters in lawnside takes the proverbial cake. A few positives though; The house ice teas are REALLY good, and the service was friendly and very attentive.

While the food was very tasty(brisket platter with collard greens and potato salad) and bbq ribs with chicken(the Charleston platter) the chicken was a little dry they also ran out of cornbread with no substitute but the portions were very small when I visit the bbq spots in north Jersey the platters are not only delicious but they feel like they weigh about 2 pounds very generous so hopefully they will fix that but other than that the foods good

I stopped for lunch… here’s the good and the bad. The good… Brisket sandwich, although on the smaller side, was tender and melted like butta. Cooked to perfection and not smothered with sauce. I could taste the smoke and the smoke ring was impressive. The Ice tea selection was great. I chose the Sweet Tea with blueberry. I was concerned that flavoring was going to be added, but instead I got blueberries crushed up and added to the tea. Nice texture added and good flavor. The only bad thing about lunch was the pecan pie. I don’t eat a lot of pecan pie but enjoy a good slice every now and then. I waited for 10 minutes after ordering it even though I was the only customer in the building at 2:30 pm. I heard«You want that heated up»…my waitress said«yes» even though I didn’t really ask for it heated. When it came out of the microwave the filling was kind of gelatinous and not what I was expecting. I’ve lived in the South for 5 years, enjoyed many slices of pecan pie… never had it like this. So for $ 4.95 a slice, next time I will save my money. Even for my lackluster pie, I will have to give a 5 star review for the Brisket and Tea.

Food is ok, nothing off the charts so far, having made two visits now. I enjoyed the ribs, different than we are used to around here. I loved the baked beans, they were a mix of different kinds of beans with meat and a nice sauce. Mac and cheese was ok one day, but great a few days later. Chopped pork platter was good, but the serving size was very small. My suggestion is to get the rib platter and mac n cheese and beans for your sides. If you don’t get a corn bread muffin, ask for it. It is included, but the waitress forgot ours on our second visit. They should probably give you one muffin when you sit down and a second one with your dinner to make up for the light portions. But, worth a try, just for a different tasting rib that I’m sure you will enjoy.
