Friars tavern was such a disappointment. When going there on a bar crawl we were treated to some of the worst service I have ever been a part of. We ordered chicken fingers for lunch and were told it would be 20 minutes. After waiting for close to an hour, we asked for our money back so we could go to other bars. We were informed that this was not possible by our waitress. After this absurdity, we asked to speak with a manager. This poor excuse for a manager came out and told us «we’d just have to wait», no apologies, no refund, just your bad for deciding to eat here! What a joke, they lost 8 customers in one fell swoop. Worst service experience I’ve ever had, which is sad as the food was actually pretty good.

A little disappointed… Food is very good, but the service is unfortunately very slow. We went in for lunch at 11pm and it took 30 minutes to get our food. When you are on a one hour lunch break, that’s a very long time. There was only one other table of people at the time. They only have one waitress to serve the lunch crowd, which picks up around noon(6 – 7 tables). During a «boil water advisory» in the town, they specifically mentioned only having sweet tea and coke products. After ordering a diet coke, it was clear that what was served was not coke at all. We later learned it was«Rally Cola», the local grocery store cola. All is not bad though… You get a lot of great food for a very reasonable price. $ 6 for a healthy portion of chicken tenders and fries and the drink is included. This goes for several of their lunch specials. So i hope they pick it up a little the next time i visit. If so, I’ll write another review. Hopefully 5 stars!
