Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and a perfect martini with blue cheese olives. I had the shrimp & grits and added some mushrooms and asparagus — man was it good! We started at the bar while waiting for our other business associates and the bar tender really put on a show! He really knows his stuff and you can tell he loves his job. Deserts were fantastic — we shared brûlée and key lime pie.

After reading all the positive reviews, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out Rick Erwin’s. It lived up to its good reputation! I decided on the special, which was a soft shell crab on a vegetable hash. It was excellent! My counterparts ordered the butcher’s sirloin, which also looked really great. On a busy night, I recommend reservations. It is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service and food! Although a little on the pricey side, it’s worth it for a splurge!

As always, everything was exceptional. A great way to celebrate my birthday. Tom, our server, was excellent and very personable. The only negative to the evening was that it was prom night, :) Hard to remember being that young, especially when you are turning 45. No matter where you are, you can NEVER go wrong with any of Rick Erwin’s places.

We met friends for a birthday celebration. I had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. It was great. I finished with the Salmon with grits and green beans. It was well prepared and delicious. The servers were good and it was an enjoyable evening.

It was time to celebrate our Anniversary again. Two years prior we celebrated @ Rick Erwin’s West End Grill and had an awesome experience. This year we decided to try Clemson, huge mistake. The food had a good taste but not the 5 Star quality. The portions were maybe half of what is served in Greenville. I’m thinking Mr. Erwin needs to spend a few weeks re-training the cooks.

When a restaurant positions itself at this price point one would expect quality to match. The service was great, but… – one of the oysters was bad, it smelled bad. Don’t they have noses in the kitchen? – just because it’s rice doesn’t make it risotto. – seared tuna should be seared, slightly crusty on the outside and not cold on the inside. – I’ve never seen tuna with gristle before. – I know that Erwins sells side dishes ala cart, but at 30 plus dollars for a steak, couldn’t they at least put a sprig of parsley on the plate?

EXCELLENT! Came here on a business dinner with some colleagues and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. Crab cakes, surf and turf, and sirloin all were cooked to perfection. Danny is an amazing server and very helpful when we had questions. Definitely recommend!

Went for an anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. I mentioned this when I made the reservation and they left us a card on the table! Amazing service. Had the ribs, which were tasty. Only complaint was it was pricey for a student budget. Many menu items did not come with sides, which contributes to price issue.

He does exist… Rick Erwin that is… Was at this location when visited there last night, came up and introduced himself to us while we were waiting on our desserts to arrive, service was good, our entrées were very tasty, our drinks were great. Was a little disappointed that they took away the bone marrow and the carpaccio off the menu

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. We had a wonderful dinner and great time with our son, whom is at Clemson this year. Only thing we would have changed is being in the back room with a family with 2 screaming kids. We’ve raised kids & took them everywhere but they were crazy. It was hard to converstae because we couldn’t hear each other at all. Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Wow! The service was incredible and the food was even better. I grew up in Clemson and this by far exceeds any place in town. I currently live in Washington, DC and it is as good as any place I have been in DC. The filet was cooked perfectly, the fried green tomatoes were amazing, the mussels fantastic and the bar is great. The bloody mary was delicious as was the wine. Oh and the mac and cheese – best I’ve ever had! Will be a regular every time I come to town. And again – the most amazing service you will find anywhere near Clemson. Exceptional!

I actually went back a few months ago with my new fiancé as an engagement celebration, but this night really has stayed with me as both delicious and a favorite of our time together. We arrived on a very busy night, but was pleased that there was little wait, and we were able to get an excellent table overlooking the restaurant. It was great that the restaurant was so accommodating to our special occasion and made every effort to make it feel that way. My fiancé and I split an appetizer and then she had the filet while I had the bone-in ribeye. The filet was cooked a perfect medium-rare, and was excellent. The rib-eye edged on the side of being more rare than medium-rare, but I enjoyed it nonetheless and will order it that way in the future. As for sides, she got the macaroni and cheese and I got the Brussels sprouts, which we of course had to share, as I was not about to pass up the chance to eat some of the mac-and-cheese(again, excellent). Finally, the wine we had came at the suggestion of the manager, Jeremy, who took a special interest in our evening. The Cabernet we shared was the best we have had in the year since our engagement, and he was as knowledgable as we have seen together(outside of some of the Chicago restaurants!). It was a very memorable night, and much about it was due to the service and attention that the Rick Erwin’s Clemson paid us. We can’t wait to stop in again as soon as we are back in that area.

Worth a try if you’re looking for a nice dinner. We went for the 3 for $ 42 because of other Unilocalers that complained about not getting your money’s worth. I got seafood soup(very salty), scallops(awesome!) and crème brûlée(pretty good). My fiancé got salad(it’s a salad), filet mignon and shrimp(very good!) and key lime pie(awesome!). We had a very knowledgeable server that answered all of our questions politely. The only thing is that it was super loud, which didn’t really match the fancy evening that we were going for.

Fine dining near my lake house. Similar to the best steak houses in Atlanta. This place is a cut above anything I have experienced in the area. Reminiscent of a warm country club atmosphere — lots of wood — not too formal — it conveys the expectation of perfection. …and it approaches that expectation. We dined with some friends while engaging in non-stop conversation as we caught up on each other’s lives. Our waitress walked a fine line, moving our dining experience along at a pleasant pace while somehow not intruding in our conversation. The experience was impressive. Great salads, an interesting stuffed mushroom appetizer, seafood bisque… For the main course my wife(Cary) and I both picked the crab cakes… served with an Orzo pasta with spinach and a remoulade sauce. The chunks of crab meat were huge. I don’t ever remember finishing two crab cakes and feeling satisfied — until tonight. It’s simply not possible to make a crab cake better than these. Easily the most impressive meal I have experienced in the state in recent memory, it comes at a price. About $ 300 for 4 of us after a reasonable 20% tip, undoubtedly worth every penny… I would go back.
