We drove by twice before we found this great place for a beer and fresh oysters. The bar is tucked in between a dog groomer and insurance company. What a gem of a restaurant. We had the bucket of oysters which were shucked right in front of us. The oysters were served right on the bar with a sleeve of saltines, horseradish & cocktail sauce. We also ordered the clam chowder. Smooth & creamy with lots of clams. The pound of garlic butter peel and shrimp were also the best. We were trying to figure out how we could finish off the sauce. A couple of pieces of thick sliced bread would have been nice. This is exactly what a beer & oyster bar should be!

Hard to find but def worth it!!! Went in on sat mid afternoon and happened to be the only ones there. Great service and delicious food. Don’t let this tiny, hole in the wall, place fool you! We ordered a dozen oysters, half lb of spicy garlic peel & eat shrimp, the trio appetizer and we each had two beers and the bill was only $ 50! Can’t wait to go back and try some more things!

I really enjoyed my fried oyster platter. The oyster were fried perfectly and the fries weren’t too salty. I don’t know if I was supposed to get cole slaw but it wasn’t missed once I tried the plump juicy deep fried oysters. The waitress was awesome and service was decent considering she was working alone.(she was the cook bartender and oyster shocker) Will definitely come back soon.

Local and AWESOME! Oysters– shrimp– great staff! Fantastic Local spot. Really small. Worth the wait. Hidden gem! No one else needs to go there because we want seats when we get there! Just joking! The new weekly hang…

We’ve been passing by this place for years. Each time we pass it on the highway, we would point it out and say«ohhh oysters». Not this time… especially after reading all of the raving review on Unilocal. We walked in with two kids in tow and of course our 8 yr old loves raw oyster. We literally have to fight her for them every time. This place is literally a hidden gem and all of the locals know. We sat right at the bar with the two kids and we felt very welcome. There were other school age kids enjoying their oysters at the same bar area. We chit chat with the locals and they also ran down the menu with all their favorites and suggestions. Of course we had to order a dozen raw oysters which was open right there Before our very eyes. We also ordered the spicy garlic shrimp, 3 appetizer platter, and obay fries. We couldn’t decide on which appetizers to order so our waitress/bartender recommended the combo app platter which gave us a taste of different appetizers. It included the teriyaki wings, fried pickles, and fried clam strips. Everything was so yummy and flavorful you definitely can’t go wrong. She gave us a few sample of the clam chowder and it was so yummy… really regret we didn’t order that also. Well, we will definitely be back here when we’re in town again. Love the laid back and friendly atmosphere. The fresh and yummy oysters were totally worth it(we ordered two dozen).

What a surprise! This was a little hard to find but man, what a gem! Seats around an open bar for shucking oysters or you can order from menu and get fried seafood! Fried oyster basket was first rate with some of the best homemade Tartar Sauce that I have ever had. Great draft beer too!

Great place for oysters. Very small though and hard to get a seat many nights, especially oyster bucket special night. They have a lot of seafood options but we always go for the oysters and have never been disappointed.

Ok so I may be a bit obsessed and the prices have inched(almost doubled) up over the years, but this is a must see in Clermont. They had Hard Cider on tap before it was cool and still manage to crank out great oysters. In the warm months i get them«lightly steamed.» THESPICYPEANUTS may be the best deal in Lake County! Thank you for that Nicki! On your second trip, they recognize you and you feel at home and know the drill. I have taken some of my south florida friends here, and they all rave about it and it is the first thing they mention when they visit us. Pull up a stool, RELAX and enjoy!

My husband and I always love fresh seafoods, after we move to Clermont, we finally tried here at last! Today is Sunday and they open at 1:00pm, we got there around 12:52 and worried that here didn’t open as the entrance is small and not fancy. We were the first customer and got the foods really fast. 1. Fish Dip is always our choice, we ordered and it was fresh, tasted good, a decent flavor! 2. A dozen of raw Oysters! It came fresh and being opened in front of you! It tasted so fresh, ocean taste with little sea-salt touch. Not too creamy with a clean finish. 3. ½ spicy Peel & Eat Shrimp. Maybe the server couldn’t hear about the spicy word, it tasted plain. Other than that, it was so fresh because you can tell from the freshness of the meat. Normally peeling shrimp comes with the shell, but not this one, so easy to eat. Yummy. I am a crab lover so will come back for crab legs. After we sat down for awhile(5 mins), customers kept coming in, you can tell how popular and good this place is. The server was so caring and nice, always came back for update. Poor him, needed to take care the whole place by himself, maybe it’s too early. He even gave me a new coke as I just asked for a cup to go. Nice job, nice place, good foods and definitely will recommend everyone to try and will come back real soon. An enjoyable lunch experience.

To small but obviously popular, as it was full and we waited about 10 and no one was leaving. If you go and parking lot is full just drive somewhere else. Other wise it must be good, as everyone was laughing and having a great time.

Food still great and customer service has improved. Tends to be busy on Fri and Sat — standing room only at that point.

I have eaten oysters all over the southeast and I happened to find Clermont Oyster Bar by mistake and it’s the best little oyster bar I’ve ever been into. Amanda and Cody we’re the shucker’s and their awesome people. Great food and great prices. Stop by and say hello you won’t be sorry.

«Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.» We were tourists looking for great oysters. We searched on Unilocal and this place was highly recommended. Let me tell you that when we pulled into the parking lot, we had second thoughts. It looked run down and small. This place was a dive bar, but the oysters… the oysters were amazing. We came on a Saturday night, which was their bucket of oysters special. It came out to a little over a dollar per half shell. Most of them were really big and they were all fresh. I’ve eaten oysters at fancy smancy restaurants in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, & New York and to my surprise, this place was the best. Service was great and super friendly.

Cheap beer, great oysters and shrimp. My kind of place. What more could you want? The place is a little hard to find, and that’s alright because that means more oysters for me. The shuckers are great!

Very busy spot and tonight they were a bit understaffed. Waited 30 minutes for the shrimp appetizer and an hour for the oysters. But the oysters were pretty good. This is a neighborhood hangout for locals and half the fun is the casual atmosphere and chance to see friends.

I was in the area, from California, for work for 1 week and went searching for fresh seafood. Yes, it is difficult to find this hole in the wall. And yes it is going through a transformation inside(the floor is being replaced as are the worn out stools…). But I came for the oysters, I ordered a bucket and Cody(spelling?) shucked them for me. The oysters were great! I also enjoyed the fried pickles and the accompanying dipping sauce was fabulous. I went back for another visit the day before my departure home. My nephew, from Miami, joined me and we had a bucket of steamed clams, 1 pound of peel and eat shrimp that were cooked in a wonderful sauce/broth, and the fried pickles. Everything was great! If going, bring your appetite and keep in mind they are open Wed-Sat only.

Cool place. Excellent raw oysters. They shuck them right in front of you. Basket of steamed clams were tasty, and spicy shrimp were delicious! Corn hole boards out back and a cool deck. It’s in a weird location, but worth finding!

Hard to find yes! It’s on the SW corner of 27&50 on the access road. On the left side if the real estate office under the awning behind the screen door Ok now you have found the hidden gem! If you like fresh oysters Real fresh shucked in front of you a bucket for just $ 15. Wow. Snow crab legs you get 5 clusters. Wow. The white fish was excellent this doesn’t look like much but its clean and super folks. The people next to us come weekly and said the see the same customers regularly and the staff was great. In many ways personality friendly and looks too!!! ;)
