arcade games? really? 10 years ago this place was pretty cool. remember seeing diplo, daedalus and fourtet playing pretty decent sets for cheap. open mics were often fun. they had themed dance nights for various niches. was a decent spot to get into. doesn’t look like thats of interest to them any longer and the staff/selection just isn’t up to par otherwise to justify a visit. i mean, arcade games???

I found this place to be pretty unique… We stopped in for a few drinks before hitting up a show at the Grog Shop. They have a nice variety of different games, pinball, pacman, skeeball, etc. They also have a fun looking beer pong game. I would suggest they switch these games to free while drinking like some of the other arcade bars I’ve been to, which I think could bring in a bigger crowd. They actually had some awesome beers on tap — a couple of different Deschutes and Brew Kettle’s White Rajah. Unfortunately after the show it tried to turn into a club… Which just wasn’t my scene.

It’s a solid place if you aren’t looking for anything special. The games are fun but on the expensive side. The music is pretty random most times and it’s not really a place for dancing or anything. The drinks are awful, so most of the time I just stick to beer. There are always interesting people. Not much else ot say about this place… other than the fact that I basically get no cell service.

Im still cracking up an my dude Murrays review. I have been here numerous times… some good, some bad. Saw Rudy Rae Moore here, saw Biz Markie here and both were sweet. Came here for just drinks a few times and I wanted to slap all the slicked over hair, rich kids wearing thrift store cardigans. Most of the bands they get are Indie buttrockers that 7 people know of. I would like to check out the trivia night doe. Now, I read they have«Flip Flops & Tank Tops» dance party on Sundays. Sounds like a place I could get my salad tossed…

Every once in a while I convince myself that maybe the B-Side isn’t as terrible as I remember. Maybe I should give it one more shot. How bad could it be? There’s booze and girls, right? Then I go, and I leave ten minutes later. It is a butthole of a bar.

Since the change from a weird dance club to a bar-cade, I feel like B Side… hasn’t really changed. It’s still dark, there’s still a plethora of hipsters(if not more), there’s still beer, there’s still weird stuff on the TVs, the bartenders still suck(if not more), and there’s still a good amount of dub step played. I actually enjoy coming to this dungeon every so often. I’m a sucker for Burger Time and Ms. Pacman, as well as beer, so it all comes together for a pretty entertaining evening. And, I must admit, the idea of booze AND arcade games is brilliant. Alcohol + games = money pit! Keep drinking, keep playing, keep losing, keep playing, keep getting quarters, KEEPPLAYING.

Used to go here in college as a last-stop for the night, after Panini’s and McNulty’s(RIP!) It was a great spot to dance and have a good time. Now, I don’t know that I’d feel comfortable going here. I’ve been in after the remodel and the atmosphere is totally different. They’ve added lots of games, which is cool! Or it would be. Last time I was in, you had to pay for them and some appeared to be out of order. In Columbus, there’s an arcade bar called 16-bit where you can play all of their games for free. Apparently they’re expanding to Lakewood in July. I’m thinking B-Side needs to either get with the times and make their games free or risk losing all of the business they’ve obtained from those who like to play games — why pay for them when you don’t have to?

I’ve also been going to bside for years and especially on Sunday nights. Sunday nights were known as ‘indie dance’ night and whoever was DJing would play some of the best music I’ve heard in cleveland. A friend and I walked in this past Sunday around 11 and the place wasn’t totally packed but that was fine. Definitely wasn’t near the crowd bside used to pull in 2 – 3 years ago. My friend and I order 2 Jameson and ginger ales. We take one sip of our drink and immediately notice a foul taste. My friend is a bartender and she said with the fountain soda guns the co2 tanks will get low– therefore making the soda taste like syrup(aka no carbonation). So we politely call the bartender over because there’s no way we can stomach these syrupy drinks. My friend politely informs the female(and only) bartender of the taste and explains that she understands due to her experience in the industry. The bartender scoffs at us and starts frivolously shooting soda into empty glasses. She then suggests that we purchase a ginger beer. After declining(politely) the bar manager comes over and we explain the situation. The bartender then says something to my friend, my friend could not hear her due to the fact there were huge speakers blaring music 10 feet away. My friend asks the bartender what she said and the girl YELLS«I SWEAREVERYTIME I SAYSOMETHINGYOUCANTHEARME, my manager is changing the c02 tanks!!» And storms off. The bartender is a skinny white girl with black hair and fair skin. Didn’t catch her name but we should have due to how poorly she handled our situation. And no we did not get a new drink, apology, or any sense of decent customer service. Needless to say, I will only go back if there is a special event at Bside. Not impressed! Don’t work in the service industry if you have the temper of a 5 year old.

ive been going to bside for some years now… before the remodel, after the remodel, during all seasons, open mic nights, dj sets, etc… they have always taken care of my friends and i well. the bartenders are cool, knowledgeable, down to earth, and will remember you if you are generally nice back to them. now, im not much of a arcade gamer, so the recent addition of the games doesn’t make or break the spot. the jukebox is cool though. but i dont get why people give this place bad reviews. if you don’t like it, then go somewhere else!

I’m on the fence about this place. I knew it when it was a spot for good music and dancing but that was more than a year ago. Now the vibe is different with an emphasis on arcade games and hipster music I haven’t really been back as much. I really liked the arcade games but was disappointed that we had to pay for all of them with quarters and some didn’t even work. But it made for a really fun night of games with my boyfriend. I would suggest this place if you are looking for a casual night out and some fun competition. There are several games you can go head to head which I really liked. The old school vibe was interesting but I wouldn’t go here for a night out on the town. Overall, a good time for casual fun with friends but not my favorite spot.

Thought place was alright, but then was ignored after the first drink and the place was not busy at all, learn how to bartend NERD, seriously the place had about 10 other people in the bar and 35 mins went by with a empty glass in front of me, with the bartender pacing by me refusing to even glance at me, only occasionally seeing my empty glass, which makes no sense what so ever, just mention the empty glass, I don’t need it refilled as soon as its emptied but at least offer a drink at some point and then when I finally get your attention, don’t be like«one minute» and then go talk to someone at the end of the bar for a few mins, seriously it’s Cleveland, like outside of Cleveland, if I was at some super swanky club where I was the poorest person in it I would maybe expect it, but it was a bunch of dudes who looked like they hang out at a mall, let me go back for a second, I really thought this place was alright, but no excuse for that, your bar is forever scorned with my hatred, all the other spots on the strip were actually decent so no matter how much you like arcade games, this place can suck it

Either the previous reviews are a bit off or my tastes are a bit lame(which could very well be true), but I enjoyed the hell out of this place. I stopped in three different nights during a seven day trip to see family in Cleveland Heights and had a good time each night. Wednesday was the most memorable: I had four PBRs and a Great Lakes porter for about $ 10. The DJ was crazy. Can’t recall his name, but he mixed ‘90s hip-hop with some of the most ignorant but hilarious trap music. The crowd was cool, friendly even. I was alone and end up hanging out with some young guys and girls afterwards who took me to the Best Steak Gyro in East Cleveland(not recommended, especially since there’s one in the Heights that’s actually safe, though that location may not serve Colt 45). Overall, cheap drinks, nice folks, and Cleveland’s version of the hipster bars you’ll find in larger cities – I’ll take it. Just one thing… there’s a patio?

I love this place. They have video games and pinball, many vintage classics, including Revenge From Mars, which is the first Pinball2000 game. They have a good selection of popular classic arcade games: Galaga, Defender, NBA Jam, Contra, The Simpsons, and more. But the absolute best game there is one you probably never heard of before, a 2-D side scroller beat-em-up by Irem called Ninja Baseball Batman. This little known game is probably the best video game EVER. If you like beat-em-ups, you HAVE to go there JUST to play this game.

I used to be a regular at Bside, but haven’t been back for a year or more until recently. Their mug night on Wednesdays is always a good time, with $ 1 half-liters of PBR you can’t really go wrong. The back patio is surprisingly large and a fun place to hang out with a group of any size. However, I’m a bit torn about the addition of the arcade games around the perimeter of the bar. It adds a unique twist, but it also takes away from the bar/dance feel of the Bside I know and love. It’s also changed the clientele and feel of the place. Instead of dancing and talking with their friends, everyone is distracted by games.

Went to this shit hole with my buddies for a bachelors night outing. What a mistake. The arcade games are shitty — a number of them don’t work at all, the dj fucked up a bunch of classic MJ(you do not fuck with MJ) then to top it off, one of the shithead female bartenders chewed out my buddies. Avoid this place at all costs.

This place is Dirty. If you are looking to dance or for a drink, go to McNulty’s right down the street instead. Literally, the place is a whole in the ground(an unfinished basement fully equiped with exposed air ducts and pipes, but not in the retro chipotle way, but in the duck or you’ll hit your head on them way) with out much light and the bathroom is downright frightening.

I really like this place. It is a bit on the younger side sometimes but the crowd is pretty cool. It is a bit hipster but still cool. The patio is nice albeit a bit smokey at times. They have a nice draft beer selection and the layout makes it the best patio in Coventry, wich is not saying much. The DJ’s are pretty good and it is the only place where there are actually any people on a Sunday in Coventry. It is a pretty friendly place where you can just kind of start dancing with the opposite sex and people are cool with that. I guess the same sex also! The alcohol is very reasonably priced as w’ell as a good selection. My faves are the PBR’s and or the shot and beer special. Shot and beer does a body good. Keeping in sync with the Grog, and the Beachland, cold drinking water is self serve. That helps when shaking your Money Maker :) I love the shiny rotating color light and the great couch setup. Free buzz enhancer! Aside from to too drunk college students I can not find any faults.

Hung out on the patio for an hour before the Grog show Saturday night. Lovely evening. Had an Oberon for only four dollars. Get one of those in Tremont, it’ll probably run you double. Lots of seating, nestled between the buildings on Euclid Hts, and serene. Great place to talk with friends and not have to bump elbows with dumb nineteen year olds. Now that’s the patio. The actual club looks scary as hell. Strobe lights, ratty couches, ratty barmaids. Glad I didn’t partake in any of that.
