Not impressed at all. Apparently the chef was having a challenge tonight. My medium rare to medium steak was cooked Pittsburg style. My wife’s salmon was basically sushi, she ordered it well done. Wait staff was decent. Expected more from a «fine dining» establishment such as this. I’ve had better steak at much lesser style chain concepts, quite disappointing.

We had the lamb chops and elk entrees– both were very good. Foie gras appetizer was very good and the lobster bisque had lobster in it, very nice. Service was excellent. A bit pricey, but very good.

Well well well. Isn’t this place amazing. Hosted dinner for 10 and this place kicks $&@@. It’s great. Amazing steak. Great apps and the folks they were awesome. Who knew? Will come back when in town!

Went for the New Orleans supper club. Party of 4 all had cocktails/wine. The supper Club was in a private room with a long banquet style dining set up(one long table), 20 people max and all courses served in large platters 4 or 5 for the table, plenty of food they never took away an empty dish but not because of lack of taste; I would recommend spacing the platters out a little better, those on the end would have to pass their plates down for strangers to serve food to and there was one man with a serving platter of food on either side of him Courses: fried seafood platter– perfect ratio of seafood to breading(was room temp, would have preferred warmer) but the dipping sauce made up for it smoked duck gumbo– perfect no critique stuffed tenderloin beignets– these stood against café beignet/café dumonde finished with coffee(to dip the beignets in of course) Would love to come back and take advantage of the outdoor bar, cocktails, tv, and try something from their dinner menu rather than the supper club

Dropped in with a work acquaintance on what seemed to be a slower night. Staff is very attentive and knowledgeable, a very impressive place for this part of the state. Ambience is warm and stylish. A little pricey, but it was on the corporate card ;). had the 8 oz filet, had the texture and taste of a prime filet. Decent wine list. Maybe a bit overpriced, but definitely one of the nicest places to eat in the area. If I was driving across the state and came by Bald Head around dinner time, I’d definitely stop in again.

Hands down my absolute favorite restaurant in Cleveland, TN. The service is always spot on and servers are knowledgeable of the food. Prices are within reason for the quality of food served. Highly recommendable for any kind of special occasion.

Waitress was great but food tonight was terrible. Wife had Ravioli that came out uncooked and my NY Strip was the toughest I have ever eaten. Manager came by but seemed preoccupied and told us this is twice this week customers have complained about uncooked Ravioli. They did nothing to try and make it right. I have eaten here as well as taken clients here several times in the past and the food and service was great. Definitely not worth the price this last visit.

I want to do the«over-rated» chant here. It was ok but definitely not worth the price. Spend your money on a better meal at a different restaurant.

It’s not that it has declined in quality since my original review. It’s just that we actually have some additional restaurants in cleveland and it’s no longer head and shoulders above the pack. It’s pricey for southeast TN, but it’s a nice place with solid steaks and always a couple unique game dishes(think elk, bison, antelope… reindeer?) Definitely still on the short list of nice places in Cleveland along with The Catch, Café Roma, and 5.0

Another great dinner with friends from Sweden tonight. Everyone loved their meals which ranged from various steaks like New Your Strip, Filet, Ribeye’s and my choice for the night a Brazened Pork Shank with fruit topping. This place has been known for the wild game menu but the chef and menu has been updated. Still great selection and all served with class in this the most upscale place in Cleveland. Good wine selection to go with the food however, I think the beer selection is lacking a place if this stature. The appetizers are great as well. Fried calamari with their sauce might be some of the best I’ve had. Crab bisque soup is the best and always on my favorites here. It did not disappoint this time either. If you have a special occasion don’t forget our BHB.

On our way to Texas, we stopped here for dinner one night based on a Unilocaler’s review. 450 of his 500 reviews were 5 stars, so I was a bit skeptical at first. We went early as I thought it may be tough being a nice restaurant without reservations. No worries, they asked for reservations and sat us anyway. There weren’t a ton of folks there so we were good. Also, I was wearing jeans from our driving and my wife thought we were going to be under dressed. Sadly, we weren’t. Great restaurant, but the early crowd(myself included) didn’t match the décor. As the evening wore on, my wife had that knowing smile that I was under dressed(again). Frankly my darling, I didn’t give a darn. The waiter was fantastic. He was very professional and very impressive. He wasn’t as obsequious as some reviewers state. I thought he was just about perfect. One thing that I didn’t know whether to enjoy or to feel over-board was when they served each plate. They would come and deliver all plates at once. It was like synchronized swimming. Each lowered at exactly the same time. I thought it was cute, but a bit over the top. My wife thought I would appreciate it more if I were wearing slacks. The appetizer is the only reason this didn’t score a 5 stars with me. It was a nice restaurant and should be rated as such. This miss was too bad. I ordered the crab and lobster cake. Being from the Chesapeake bay area, I’m thinking lumps of meat. No, it was a corn cake with some micro portions of crab and lobster. It was on a fantastic sweet potato purée that really offset it. For crying out loud — who thinks that«blue crab and lobster cake» is going to be a mealy corn thing. That should have been a lot clearer in the description and I’d have tried something else. I’m a sucker for Crab cakes and this was a foul. The wine carried us thru this misstep. I had a glass of the Riesling and my wife had the Moscato. We both enjoyed ours. I wish we had just gone ahead and gotten a bottle of one of them. We split a salad. I thought we would have gotten grief on this, but I wasn’t looking to eat a ginormous salad each. It was absolutely the perfect choice. They brought us both a plate of each and it was perfectly small. We had the Seasonal Greens and it was just«awesome». It was seasonal greens(duh) with dried cranberries, candied walnuts, gorgonzola, pear, and balsamic vinaigrette. Hit it out of the park. Then I had the absolute best entrée I have eaten this year(and it’s November). I had the wood fired salmon. When ordered, he asked what temperature I wanted. Being the jeans wearing rube that I am, I said I liked my fish more cooked than less. He suggested I go with medium-well. I said, go for it. I wept when I ate it. Nice glaze on the outside. Perfect faint woodsy smoked flavor & perfectly cooked. Wow. It came with farro rissotto which was criminally good. I wasn’t looking forward to eating it. I thought it was just culinary filler on the plate until I dove in. Ever had that perfect mac n’ cheese? It felt like that moment. Much better than it’s humble look would seem. Finallly, I had a bunch of diced sweet potatoes. I’m overdoing the word«perfect», but they were perfectly prepared. AWESOME. My wife had the short ribs. In a supreme fluke of fate, I ordered the good meal and she struck out. Usually it is the other way around. It came with a pureed root thing. She said it was OK. It had some stewed tomatoes. She likes them cooked that way so it worked. the short ribs didn’t twirl her propeller. She said it was much more fatty(in a not good way) than she wanted. The searing was a bit too much on the outside making some of the outer part like eating beef jerky. It was just too tough for her tastes. She said it tasted good when she could find a portion of meat that she could cut out of all the bone, fat, and jerky. We finished up with a pecan pie. Wow, I can’t believe that I had room. I usually like my pecan pie very traditional with no chocolate, raisins or other pollutants to the fine original. They had pecan pie with white chocolate. I approached the order with huge trepedation. I wanted to satiate my sugar craving and this was the one that looked the best. Wow. What’s the right word again? Oh yeah — Perfect! The white chocolate was lightly done. Little chips here and there amongst the pecans. But it had a wonderful spice added to the filling. I think it was a light taste of cinnamon. Whatever it was, the combination was a freakin a mazing. If it weren’t for the misdirection on the appetizer, I would have tried something else and it would have likely gone to 5 stars. DEFINITELY go here. Just watch what you order.

Husband and I had a fantastic dinner here last week. We were driving back to Dallas from the east coast and spending the night in Cleveland, TN. After 9 straight hours of driving, we were tired and very hungry. Saw the great reviews on Unilocal and made a reservation. There was a raucous, festive happy hour out on the patio — I think that they have 2-for-1 drinks; it was clearly the place to be. Quieter and subdued inside the restaurant, though. The atmosphere is sort of upscale hunting lodge. The service was attentive but unobtrusive. The quality of the food really impressed us. To find a restaurant this great in a little town like this was a pleasant surprise. I would put Bald Headed Bistro up against any of the high end steakhouses here in Dallas, it was that good. We both had filets(and my husband very rarely orders steak, because he’s so often disappointed); they were cooked perfectly. They offer about a dozen different sauces, butters, blue cheese, etc. that you can add, but the steak was perfect as served. The steaks included either a salad or a side, which is nice, because at many steakhouses, everything is a la carte. I started with a Caesar, which was just okay(get the wedge instead, it’s much better). The mac & cheese was killer. Just an excellent experience all-around. We will definitely be back on our next road trip east!

The restaurant in Cleveland where upper middle class and successful hang out. You can tell also, they went to great links to put some of the features in here. There is a tv above the urinal in the men’s bath room. I have never seen that. I saw an elk in here that has antlers with the largest width span I have ever seen. What a trophy that would be while hunting. Furthermore, there is a tree in here with a black bear at the top of it above the entrance to the bathroom on the left. Want proof of this, see my picture of this black bear. The customer service was 4 stars which is great. Although, they get a little bit«carried away» with saying«yes sir» all the time and every time you ask a question or speak to them. What’s up with that? The food was 5 stars. The presentation was 5 stars. The scenery was 5 stars. The local vibe was 5 stars. Overall, I had a good time as I sat at the bar. I met a few senior citizens who were nice and talkative. That’s why I give them a solid 5 stars. Now to my dinner review. I got the bald headed bistro bar b q sandwich with broccoli. The broccoli was the best I have ever eaten as it was steamed to perfection and seasoned just above average and served at the right temperature. It’s worth coming here for just for the broccoli. Best of all, they do have happy hour Monday thru Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30. Today they had house drinks at a 2 for 1 low price. Now, the ultimate bonus for visiting on Wednesdays after work is they put a free appetizer at the bar for patrons to eat. Today they brought out fried cheese squares which was so good I wanted seconds. It came with the best marinara sauce that you can get. Above all else, I just might come in here one day and order a plate of broccoli as it was that good. Oh yes, don’t forget to take a picture –of –the –black bear, –in the tree, –in here.

Came here for dinner with some customers a few weeks ago. Service was excellent. We had a variety of appetizers, drinks and entrees. Not a cheap place but a great place to entertain customers. Definitely would come here again.

I had the cedar plank salmon with asparagus. It was very good with a nice a smokey flavor. In general, smoke permeated he place. Walking up to the restaurant reminded me of camping(in a good way). All in all, it was very tasty, but entirely too expensive.

I only go here for a special occasion or business dinner/lunch. Very expensive for two. The food is worth it though. I’ve never been unsatisfied with anything I’ve ordered. The staff is usually young college/students, but they are trained and act professional, sometimes a little over the top.

steak and fish are consistent, but it’s time to tweak the menu and wine list. For the $$$$ spent, the restaurant needs to innovate the menu and wine list. I’ve been here a dozen times when traveling the area over the last 4 years, and the menu and wine list haven’t changed too much. Some of the entrees can get a little heavy with the BHB smoke aroma.

TOPFIVE! This falls into our top 5 restaurants ever. This is our second time at BHB and we are excited to live closer so that it won’t be our last. Josh had the BHB Game Platter and was blown away with the amazing flavors, especially the big surprise, fried quail breast. I loved the filet and was so glad I got it with bacon jam and the mushroom and blue cheese side. Bottom line: if you like good food, go to BHB!

It’s hard to believe this great Restaurant is in this little town. The fellow that owns Check Into Cash started BHB It’s modeled after a Wyoming themed lodge. The food here is a top ten. The menu has high end American items. Game included. Just amazing combinations. These young new chefs really know how to knock it outta the park. Very impressive. I promise you won’t be sorry. I waddled out of there. Smiling :) Check out the menu here
