Went with a friend to see Steinbecks«Of mice and men» of which was a thoroughly enjoyable experience at the Blank Canvas theatre. It’s near Gordon Park but off the beaten path in an old but incredibly well converted factory full of galleries, staging, and a variety of other creative spaces. It’s like Chicago came to Cleveland and decided to stay~! I hope to find my way back there again for ANY reason! And please feel free to Google Blank Canvas… Lots of neat shows coming up and such professional and talented individuals!!!

Located on the upper level of the 78th st studios, when walking into the old room you don’t really expect much from the Blank Canvas Theater company. I had the pleasure of seeing Texas Chainsaw Musical and honestly it was one of the best productions I have ever seen. From the minimalist backdrop to the actors to the song numbers everything worked. The entire production managed to be extremely professional while still maintaining a grassroots quality. There really wasn’t any weak links in the play. Everyone really got into their part, and I heard better singing voices than I have on some of Playhouse Squares big productions. The musical itself was hilarious and a good deal of the audience members left covered in «blood». Luckily the audience was as fun as the play itself. Name one other time when the audience shouts an enthusiastic yes when asked if someone should be gutted. I cannot wait to attend another production here. The next one is Mice and Men and I’m interested to see what kind of twist they put on it.
