Margaret is awesome! As long as she’s sewing, I’ll be getting my alterations done by her.
I’ve brought her 3 pairs of pants to be hemmed and 4 dresses to alter in a variety of ways. I haven’t been disappointed yet! I may even bring her a dress I had previously altered that still doesn’t fit correctly because I’m confident she’ll take one look at it and know what to do to fix the problem. She’s just so confident and good at what she does!
It’s a little intimidating trying to find her little nook among the other studios and spaces at 78^th street studios, but it’s so worth the challenge!

Margaret did my wedding dress alterations (and my husband’s suit alterations) in 2012. She was friendly and prompt even though she was also making her own wedding dress at the time! My favorite thing in addition to the perfect alterations is that she surprised me with a custom shawl made out of the remnant fabric of my dress that I wanted removed. Everyone loved it (and so did I), and it was a perfect addition to my dress for our October wedding.

Since coming to Margaret with my wedding dress alterations, I have since returned to her for alterations and repairs on other items in my wardrobe — namely cocktail dresses that needed to be taken in. She quickly and expertly tailored my dresses for a perfect fit — and at truly reasonable rates!
Having Margaret as a resource to take my off-​the-​rack garments from an adequate fit to a custom-​tailored fit feels like the height of luxury. I look forward to coming back to her with future consignment store finds and beloved-​if-​ill-​fitting frocks!

This place is great. I had some suits that needed work. Margaret explained what was possible, and what wasn’t. Essentially, one of my suits could be re-​sized, but the other would just look like junk. I’m glad she was honest rather than taking my money and giving me something sub-​par. The end result of my adjusted suit looked amazing. She was quick, professional, and even worked a pickup time that could fit into my constantly changing schedule. The wife and I have a new seamstress!

I found Senjiva Studios on Unilocal actually. Margaret has tailored a suit a tux and a couple pairs of pants for me. She is reliable, affordable and does a great job.

Margaret is a really great lady! She is flexible, honest and works really hard. She gives a lot of attention and care to the garments that are handed in to her and will fix mistakes that you might not even realize! (For example, turning in a dress to be shortened with an uneven hem will return to you shortened correctly!)
I would trust her with all of my alterations!

I just asked Margaret to take in a dress and a skirt for my professional wardrobe. Both items needed to be taken in by several inches and she expertly rebuilt them so the darts would be perfect. She also remade aspects of both garments that I didn’t love.
The turnover was quick (2 days!), prices reasonable, service very professional but friendly, and hours accommodating to my schedule.

Margaret is a great seamstress and very efficient! I took my suit there to get tailored for some interviews. She hemmed the pants, shortened the sleeves on the jacket and moved the button on the jacket. It all took her less than a week! I will definitely be going to her again!

Margaret performs nothing less than magic in her single-​artist loft atelier. She is professional, an absolute expert at her craft, and finishes her work quickly. Her prices are more than reasonable, and she can take on a lot of tough projects with delicate fabrics that other tailors can’t.
She is amazing with giving sewing lessons as well! I took some private, entry level courses with Margaret and she not only came to my home for the lessons, she was also much more affordable than other places in town. She is patient, kind, and an excellent teacher!

Margaret is a GEM. I was nervous to get an expensive cocktail dress altered for a wedding, I just imagined taking it somewhere and scissors hacking in to hundreds of dollars of fabric and sequins– but Margaret made it seem so simple. The fitting was quick and painless, and her accuracy and quality are unmatched. On the opposite end of the spectrum– I’ve also handed her a Forever 21 skirt, and she made it fit so well it did not look like it cost $ 20. She probably even fixed up some of their shoddy stitching!
I would feel confident handing over anything to Margaret, her top-​notch skill and passion undoubtedly shine when you receive your clothing back and it fits exactly how you had imagined! I was never one to get anything custom fit, but shes got me hooked!

Margaret made my mall branded suit look like a million bucks. I found the pricing to be very fair and the turn around time was super efficient. Her workmanship is excellent! With shops like Joy Machine and Margaret’s studio, Ohio City is the place to be!

Margaret was great. She was understanding of my time constraints (I only had a week to get a bridesmaids dress taken in, in a couple different spots), and actually got the work done early. The alterations were perfect, exactly what I was looking for. She is very talented! The vintage store in which she operates is pretty cool, too.

I had a wonderful experience here. She completely revamped a dress that no longer fit, and also altered a suit that needed to be taken in. Her high quality work is meticulous — and I believe her pricing is fair (if you want cheap alterations she is not your girl — but if you are willing to spend the money, you wont be disappointed). Her hours are a little unusual — but they have worked perfectly for me.

Margaret is efficient and accurate but also super understanding of individual needs and respectful of deadlines. She has helped me out in a bind and is able to suggest ways to make garments fit when I am not quite sure what the problem is! From a basic hem to reworking a coat, I would fully trust Margaret at Senjiva to make me look fly.

Margaret at Senjiva Studio (which is inside Deering Vintage) is a lifesaver when it comes to speedy turnaround on alterations, not to mention updating that dress that isn’t quite right, or… well, you name it. She saved our bacon this week, clothes-​wise!

This is the tailor for me. Located on the loft in the rear of the Deering Vintage store on W25th, Margaret does great work. Two new suits tailored to a tee. No need for a second fitting. Some older suits that seemed to have shrunk are now a perfect fit again. Same thing with dress pants.
«Bella Figura» can mean many things, but at its core is presentation… how one looks, how one comports oneself, how one makes the best possible impression in all things.
So don’t wear a suit off the rack.
