Bonkerz Comedy Club

So, I like this place… good talent and not a bad venue. Poor setup, bad placement in the restaurant and absolutely no signage as to where to go for the comedy club. Food is wayyyy overpriced and their alcohol selection is sub par. Service is… just ok.

Bonkerz is in the historic Hermit Club and is part of the Hofbrauhaus complex. In fact to get inside the club, you enter thru the Hofbrauhaus and go thru the back of the restaurant and up the stairs. Since last night was so chilly, it was great to bypass the long line waiting to get inside the main dining room. Once inside the club, you are seated at long communal tables. I thought the interior was decorated warm and cozy with murals and old portraits decorating the walls. Truly a beautiful room.
I loved that the full Hofbrauhaus menu is available in the club. You can enjoy the same food and beer as the main dining room and you don’t have to wait in the long line! We ordered a variety of food: appetizer sampler, soup, perch & perogies, corned beef sandwich and a wurstplatte. Everything tasted fresh, hot and homemade. Beer was nice and cold. The service was very good.
The comedy acts were enjoyable. The club has shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
TIp: Go to the website and sign up to win tickets. I bet the odds are good that you will win tickets, like me. If not, tickets are $ 10.
I am giving them such a high rating because of the good service, full menu and nice decorations. Compared to other comedy clubs I have been too, this is the best one so far. It was a fun night out.
