LifeStart Wellness Center

LifeStart Wellness Center is an older, relatively basic gym located on the third floor of The 200 Public Square Building. Membership is discounted by about $ 4 per month to tenants of the building, but is also open to the public, with rates starting around $ 50 per month. The gym is staffed by several personal trainers, who offer some classes (for an additional charge) in its different studios, massages, and consultative services and promotions/​challenges. Locker rooms are also on-​site with showers and the standard amenities, along with laundry service and permanent locker rentals, both available for additional monthly fees.
The equipment itself is rather basic but workable, showing clear signs of age. Several of the elliptical machines are broken and have been that way for the better part of a year, much to the chagrin of the early bird and lunch crowds. Cardio machines face four different televisions which have closed captioning, while several machines have plug-​in capabilities to hear the audio of the radio or the different TV’s. The free weight rack has weights for 5 pound increments from 5 to 55 pounds. The staff relies on member’s leftover magazines/​newspapers for the bulk of the reading material available.
Overall, this is a convenient fitness option for those already in the building or who work close by, but nothing to write home about, and certainly not a competitor to some of the newer gyms in the area.
