Statler Arms

I lived here for 3 yrs from July 2012 to June 2015. Overall, nice place to live. Gorgeous lobby, with convenient café and restaurant, and well-​maintained gym facilities. Nice rooftop as well.
Cons: rent went up every year — significantly! Moreover, parking in the building was crazy expensive — $ 170 per car! And it was a super crowded garage with teeny tiny spaces. One of my cars developed a mysterious long key mark on the passenger side, and my husband’s car got a dented bumper and missing side view mirror.
Maintenance always came within 24 hrs of a request being placed… until two months before my lease expired (ie, after I had given notice that I wouldn’t be renewing my lease). At that point, it took 3 weeks for maintenance to come and repair my washer! I had been calling the leasing office repeatedly requesting service, but when I finally called, livid, they offered to cover my washer/​dryer fee for the month.
Despite this alleged credit, and instead of crediting me my security deposit once I moved out after cleaning the entire place meticulously, the shady leasing office not only withheld my deposit but additionally claimed that I somehow owed them money!
My last couple of months living at Statler definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, largely due to some leasing office members and their shady practices :(

Luxury? Ahahahah what a joke!
I wanted to live there and I make some calls to talk to the manager. They were super rude and kept laughing at me for no reason. They tell me that their prices change every day and they couldn’t tell me how much is rent an apartment until after I signed a contract. Are you serious? You want me to sign before knowing the price?
I left!

The building looks nice (if you’re into the really old hotel look) and the apartments aren’t too bad, however the management is absolutely awful. It has been an okay place to live the the past couple of years, but I cannot imagine staying here any longer.
I’ve lived here for two years, and have had issues paying rent almost every single month — the online system rarely works, and only lets you split rent if you pay before the first of the month (when rent is due). When you give management a check for rent, they take sometimes weeks to cash it.
Parking is very, very expensive and the garage is always jam packed.
Additionally, we have had huge problems with getting any issues fixed in the apartment — it took maintenance 5 days to come look at our broken kitchen sink, and that was after we had to call management several times and ask them to come (after we put a work order in the way you are supposed to). They rarely give us enough notice when they need to come in and do things like inspections and spray for bugs — just recently, we had less than 24 hours to clear everything out of our kitchen cabinets and drawers, move everything away from where the floor and wall meet and find somewhere for our cat to stay while they came in and sprayed for cockroaches.
Needless to say, I am very excited to move out in August.

The Statler Arms is an apartment complex in the Theatre District of Downtown Cleveland. It used to be a Luxury Hotel, and they definitely have aspects of that carrying over into the building.
Things I like about this place:
The Lobby — Gorgeous Marbled Lobby — feels like a luxury complex! (Public) Amenities include The Copper Moon Coffee House (Amazing), Juji’s Café (They deliver to each apartment), and a Tailor/​Alterations. Which is nice!
The concierge — This place comes with a 24X7 concierge at the front desk who will be happy to get you a taxi, recommend places and get your dry cleaning dropped off and picked up. A definite Plus.
The Apartments — So maybe I’m a bit biased, but I lived on PH2 (that’s one of the penthouse suites here), and was able to get it for $ 1200 a month along with a roommate (so $ 600 a piece!). Plus heat is paid. Love!!!
Gym — They actually have a new, good proper gym!
Rec room — Table Tennis, Pool and fooseball, along with large tvs… nice place to chill.
Dislike:
They just don’t do short term leases! Only thing that didnt work out for me! After a year had some uncertainty about location due to work, and price for a 6 month lease was about 33% higher!
Parking: The statler arms garage wants to charge you $ 170 per month for parking!!! Insane! And they give people working in the building opposite the place $ 85/​month parking! WTF?! Seriously… I had parking in a building a block away just because of that!
Would live here again for the right price
