I work for an organization that uses performers in colonial attire, and need about a dozen new«tricorn» or cocked hats a year. We told Hatcrafters if we were happy with our order we would become a regular customer. The trim on one of the hats was badly sewn and we asked if they could resew it or remove it and were told«you could do that yourself» and that a return was not an option. Linda was unhelpful and rude on the phone. Their unwillingness to redo one hat cost them many hats that we might have purchased. Buyer beware.

My company, who orders from about a dozen or so colonial and revolutionary era outfitters, ordered from this company for the first time this month. We ordered two hats to check out their quality, and told the business that we were likely to buy many more if we happy. We tend to buy 10 or so hats a year. We received the hats relatively quickly. One, a black hat, had a piece of white cloth that was really frayed. It also has a ribbon around the crown that is of questionable historic accuracy. The gray hat we purchased had trim that was done really badly. It was bunched up in places and really uneven. We called to ask if we could send it back and have the trim redone. We didn’t want to return it. Just asked if it could be redone. The woman was incredibly rude to my coworker, and said we could do it ourselves. She also claimed that it was«meant» to look that way, despite our ordering another hat with similar trim that was not that way at all. This company offers poor customer service and mediocre products. They had been listed as «closed,» previously on Unilocal, but unfortunately, they are very much open. They are also very much terrible. Flying Canoe Traders is far superior, and even Jas. Townsend & Son. is far superior.
