Visited this restaurant for the first time over the weekend with family and we were all pretty impressed. One downfall though, the address doesn’t appear to be correct. When you put Meyer Road into your GPS, it takes you elsewhere. The location is really on the corner of route 9 and farm to market road — so that was confusing. From the outside, the place looks huge, and there is a large space for outdoor seating, which I’m sure gets busy during the warmer months. Upon walking in, it’s like walking into someone’s old home. There was so much charm. The hostess brought us up a couple of flights of stairs and walked us through what looked like what were bedrooms at one point, and into a larger seating area. We were the only party there for most of the time, so it was nice and quiet. The décor was a mixture of vintage and rustic and was very cozy. Our server was attentive and friendly, and did a good job keeping up with our party needing multiple refills of things at different times. I ordered the shepherds pie for dinner, which was very tasty. Another in our party ordered the specialty mac and cheese, which was turkey, bacon with smoked gouda and a ranch drizzle on top. That was amazing, they should put it on the menu regularly. The appetizers we ordered were pretty good(wings, mozz moons, and Irish nachos). I wasn’t a fan of the nachos, they were waffle fries and didn’t have all the fixings that nachos typically do. Plus, I thought Irish nachos were made with potato chips? I do think the food was generally overpriced, but we did receive coupons for our next visit, which makes me want to go back and try some other options. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and want something other than one of the many chains nearby.

Power’s is an okay restaurant nested in an easy to miss location. ATMOSPHERE: One thing I liked about Power’s was the outdoor deck seating. I didn’t get to see inside the restaurant, but from the sounds of the bar it must be fairly noisy. FOOD: Power’s has a decent selection of items. Springing for a traditional Irish dish, I opted for the shepherd’s pie. It was a sizable portion(better be for $ 15) and a tad greasy for my liking. SERVICE: The wait staff here are adequate. I had no complaints. VALUE: This attribute is a little below average. Power’s appears to charge higher prices than most casual dining establishments in Clifton Park without a discernible increase in quality.

Great atmosphere, cozy bar, small separate dining rooms and outdoor deck. We were in Clifton Park for one night and stopped in for a drink and were pleasantly surprise with this pub. We enjoyed live music, drinks and appetizers on the deck The deck had mood lighting and a fire pit. They offered several brewery choices and hard cider. The Sangrias were awesome with lots of fruit. The Irish nachos were the group’s favorite with waffle fries, corn beef, salsa, jalapeños and sour cream. I will go back in a heartbeat when I am back in the area.

As Bill S. mentioned the building is old and as you go from room to room, you can hear the creaking of the floor boards. It’s an interesting dining experience. The food is delicious. Their shepherd’s pie is my favorite. Their lobster mac n’ cheese is also a good choice with its creaminess and sweet lobster. Love the batter on their fish n’ chips. Comfort food at its epitome.

Really good food and a great menu along with a super beer selection. Unfortunately, the service isn’t so good if you sit in the bar area. The bartender has those tables and the bar, but loses track of the tables if the bar has anyone at it. We keep going back for the food and atmosphere, but won’t if we’re in any kind of hurry.

September 20th — I was visiting my friend who lives in the area and we wanted to go out for a nice dinner. We browsed Google Maps and Unilocal for a close, but highly-rated place. We found it here! Rich and I were seated in the basement of the restaurant, very close to the kitchen. We were hungry, so we ordered drinks(water, wine, and pumpkin beer) as well as the Irish Nachos for an appetizer. The atmosphere was nice: dim lights, a live musician starting his set in the Pub area(the music trickled down the stairs). It was only frustrating because we were right by the stairwell into the basement, so we had no privacy to be goofy and romantic. The menu was medium-sized, loaded with Irish and American meals. I was very tempted to order everything, but settled for the special that evening: pork with an apple chutney/glaze, baked apple, and wild rice. And let me tell you… it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. The pork was coated nicely in rosemary and other spices, which set very well with the apples. Yum. And there was enough on my plate to take home for lunch the next day. Rich and I really enjoyed the nachos(corned beef, cheese, jalepenos, sour cream on waffle fries) and onion rings(huge, beefy onion slices). He also really enjoyed his lobster mac and cheese. Hopefully, when I’m back in Clifton Park, we will return.

I like many locals have know this building well going back to when Jeannie ran it as the Olde Dater Tavern. Love the old rumor of being haunted and have had many nice meals within this building under the various ownerships. Actually the former chef of Olde Dater operates his own restaurant not too far away these days. Visited last night with my S.O. and we just wanted something light. We each had a warm Spinach Salad with lots of warm bacon an we shared some wings. Both the wings and salads were very good! Well priced and the service was very good. It was a casual evening for us and we chose to sit just outside the bar area so we could enjoy the live music of a young Irish singer who was singing. It was a perfect location because although as he was singing we could still speak yet enjoy the music over some cocktails. Actually we stayed longer than planned and had an extra drink and just enjoyed the music. I’m not much of a beer drinker so I can’t really say much about the beer or the selection. On a previous visit I just had a standard bottle of Corona so I’m not in a position to address their beer selections or quality.

Awesome. I had the Irish nachos, power house burger, and lagunitas IPA. I’m a little partial to egg on a burger, but this was perfect. Burger cooked perfectly as ordered, egg cooked to perfection, and the beer complimented the meal excellently. I am kicking myself for putting off going to this place.

I have to say, I’m impressed. In a sea of chains here in Clifton Park, this pub stands out even though it’s fairly off the beaten path with regard to the commercial district. The building is OLD, which adds a lot if charm to the restaurant. It’s an old inn, so the entire place is broken up by room, as well as by a quirky arrangement of levels. The food is fantastic and, when appropriate, cooked to order. The sweet potato fries are amazing! Everyone cleaned their plates! As I’m a beer geek, I was happy to see that they have a decent craft selection that rotates frequently. They must clean the lines often here, too, as the beer tastes very fresh and clean. I’m now kicking myself for not coming here sooner. This will definitely be a regular spot!

Quaint«old» atmosphere with good food and excellent service. The Vermonter panini had excellent flavor but it really needed to be grilled/pressed longer, it wasn’t nearly hot or melted enough. The regular fries were nice and crispy, but the optional sweet potato fries were your standard restaurant fare — nothing special.

Had a very cozy dinner. The food was great and the service very attentive. Onion rings were outstanding compliant to my Ruben sandwich! They also have home made sweet potato fries. The deserts sounded good but there was no room! Next time I’m in the area this is a must stop for a great meal!

Still at 5 stars in my book. Beers selection is better than my first trip here. They have 3 different October fest brews on… ok maybe 1 isn’t a October fest brew but it still has to do with October. The one I am talking about is Ship yard pumpkin ale. I can’t common on that because I didn’t sample it but I will sure be going back to. I did sample Brooklyn and Spanten October fest with Brooklyn being the better one for me and at 4 buck a pint? Can’t beat that. So for dinner, we started with their famous Irish nachos, I would definitely order them again but pass on the salsa verde sauce. For my meal I choose Flying Irishman sandwich with a side salad instead of fries. Other meals ordered was a cheeseburger and fries and a ruben with pasta salad. It took a while to get our meals but I didn’t mind, I was enjoying my beer. I really hope that they do introduce more bands than Irtish bands just for a change up every once in a while. Food came out and for the most part it was good. The only thing I didn’t like was my side salad, they must have fix the salad and left it out, as the greens were warm, and the pieces of carrot in the salad was too much. Sandwich was good, I wish they grill or toast the bread though. The ruben was the star of the night. The corn beef on it was excellent. Let’s face it if you are a Irish restaurant/bar and you can’t make a great ruben, something is wrong. That is definitely not a problem here. The burger was also surprisingly good. Really moist and flavorful. For dessert we brought a container of their home made bread pudding home to eat. All I have to say is it is OFFTHECHAIN! Even though my meal was just ok I still have them at 5 stars because their deck is kick ass and they have a GREAT variety beer.

Summary– Another bar with averagish food into the frey in Clifton Park. I am excited they apparently have a «real» Irish breakfast/brunch on Sundays. The outside patio will be kickass in the Summertime. I will report back on the brunch. Food– 2.5 Stars Irish nachos were fine, could have used a bit more cheese but overall there was nothing wrong with them. There was a ton of the waffle fries, it was way too much for two. Fish and Chips was OK, I prefer a heavy fluffy batter this was more of a thin coating. It was maybe a shade over-fried. The fries were fine, the coleslaw was very good, not over dressed. My wife got a special panini(super Irish LOL). It was fairly disappointing(see pics), basically a grilled cheese. I know that panini has basically become anything pressed, but I think of it as something on ciabatta, which it wasn’t. Beer– 4 Stars Although the menu wasn’t as Irish focused as I would have expected, they do have some nice brews, esp the Otter Creek Black IPA. I would like to see a few more American brewery Irish themed beers, like Harpoon Celtic Ale. Atmosphere– 4 Stars Loses points for being cold downstairs in the corner, but otherwise this is super cool old house that shows it’s age in a good way. They have a cool thing on the back of the menu that explains the origin of the house. They have live Music Thursdays and Fridays, the guy was pretty solid last night. It ended pretty early. Service– 5 Stars Super nice and attentive. One of the owners I believe was checking in on us and asked us what we thought when we were all done.

We had been here several times when it was the Olde Dater Tavern. None of the food was outstanding then, but there were a decent selection of beers on tap including a framboise lambic. The current drafts are ok, but they no longer have the lambic. I just looked at their Facebook page and they mention that they have 18 drafts. I don’t believe there were that many printed on the table-top menu. So maybe they have more good drafts to offer. We started with a Ten Penny Scottish Ale and a Longtrail Ale($ 5/pt). My wife said her Longtrail tasted like dirty socks. A basket with two warm poppy seed rolls and butter was brought to our table right away. We decided to try two of three soups($ 5/bowl) that were offered by our server. The chicken dumpling was full of flavor, shreds of chicken and several dumplings slightly smaller than the size of golf balls. The Butternut Squash Soup had lots of flavor and was nice and thick but was only hot on the bottom of the bowl. The top was close to room temperature. My wife had the Irish Nachos($ 9) as her dinner. Plenty of seasoned waffle fries with bits of corned beef, salsa verde, sour cream, sliced jalapenos and some melted cheddar-jack cheese. After the soup she was not able to finish all the fries. I tried the Bacon Cheese Burger($ 9). Our server asked me if I liked it «pink or not pink.» I guess this is the new way of asking the customer how well to cook a burger as it’s now the second time I’ve come across this question. I said I’d prefer it to be as pink as the chef was willing to serve it. It came out a nice juicy rare and I was happy to let our server know it was perfect. What I didn’t know was that when our server asked me if I preferred regular fries or waffle fries with my burger that there would be an up-charge of $ 1 for the waffle fries. The menu says the burger is «Served with fries.». It’s not like it’s a big deal, but if it isn’t stated on the menu then it should be told to the customer when ordering. Our server was actually very friendly and attentive, checking on us periodically. Upon leaving, however, I noticed the evening specials written on the chalkboard and saw that we had only been informed of the soups. There were few people there when we arrived near 6 on a Sunday so noise level was not a problem. There are dining areas on 3 floors other than on the main floor where the bar is, so it is possible to keep away from any noisy crowd when one exists. Their WiFi signal was too weak to know if i really worked. I’d really like to say 2 ½ stars.

Power’s Irish Pub opened recently in the former Olde Dater Tavern, which is now owned and operated by the Giffords, who also own Giffy’s BBQ down the road. This restaurant and pub inside an old house unwent some nice renovations and there are several cozy dining rooms with wood floors accessed by a few steps & the pub/bar area with big TV is in the front of the restaurant. There’s also outside patio seating on the painted wood deck(seasonal). The menu offerings consists of pub fare with Irish influence such as appetizers, sandwiches, potato leek soup, salads, and entrees featuring Irish nachos, Guinness battered onion rings, reubens, fish n chips, bangers & mash, shepherd’s pie and more. For the kids, they offer a Little Leprechaun Menu. See the menu at Also, there are over 15 draft beers including Guinness, Harpoon IPA, Smithwick’s, McSorley’s Pale Ale, Harp, Kilkenny, Power’s Irish Red Ale and others, plus several bottled beers and wine are offered. I stopped here for lunch and the place was quite busy. I was seated in a small room with high tables and stools, just above the pub area. There were plenty of small framed pictures of Ireland landmarks on the walls. For a starter, I ordered the Frickles($ 6) sliced dill pickle chips, and a few banana peppers coated in a light crispy Harp beer batter with a side of horseradish sauce. This appetizer was on the greasy side and a few of the pickle chips were deep fried clumped together with soft warm batter in between the chips. For lunch, I ordered the Corned Beef Rueben($ 10) which had plenty of sliced corned beef topped with Swiss cheese, a thin layer sauerkraut & Russian dressing on toasted rye and served with fries. The Rueben tasted pretty good and the fries were very crispy and light, slightly greasy, potato skins on some. The food was decent overall and some items were on the greasy side. The service at my table was pleasant and acceptable. However, at the next table, the service was not good(I’m writing about this because I witnessed the following situation from my seat). A couple at the next table was already seated when I arrived here and they had already ordered their food before me and enjoying their drinks. However, my table and another table(father & son) both received food before the couple. I also finished off my appetizer and entrée while the couple was still waiting for their food. The guy was very upset and complained to several servers about where was their food and this was unacceptable. The servers kept apologizing and he told his wife he was threatening to get up and leave the place if they did not arrive with their entrees stat. I would be very angry too and I would definitely do the same thing. Their food(a rueben and a shepherd’s pie) was brought out eventually and their server explained that the computer system wiped out their order and the kinks still need to be worked out. Until next time, to the THIRDPOWER!!!
