One of those places that has a nice atmosphere, clean, good service, but the food is nothing to go home and rave about. The set up is cute, with curtains that can be pulled down to give each table privacy. As far as the food: I don’t think it’s ever a good sign when food comes out in about 5 minutes. Have you had rice that is just reheated after it has been sitting on the stove for a while? That’s what this tasted like. I ordered the arroz chaufa(chicken) but according to the waitress I ordered beef chaufa. I guess our Spanglish conversation was a bit off. I kept the dish since she was nice about it. Arroz chaufa is up there on my top 5 fav type of rice but this place didn’t match other Peruvian spots. For dessert we had the tiramisu which is bought from a vendor not made at the restaurant. I would skip dessert. It’s a #BYOB and parking wasn’t difficult around here.

Went here the other day with two friends. I ordered the lomo saltado and a glass of chicha. Our waitress gave us some green sauce which tasted much better than I’ve had before. The green sauce here is actually a little more yellow and a little thicker. When I mixed it with the lomo saltado, the flavor just popped. The lomo saltado tasted excellent to me even though I wasn’t too crazy about the rice on the side. I’ve had chicha before but the chicha here just tasted so refreshing; my friends agreed. My friend ordered the octopus ceviche and I tasted a little and it was really good; it had a lemony taste to it. For dessert we had crème brûlée and espresso which again were both amazing. It was dead here when we went but that’s because it was a Tuesday I guess. Other than that, I had fun with my friends and I left satisfied. I’m definitely returning here.

I’ve been to Aji Limon about 4 – 5 times and the place never disappointments. Although I’ve had better Peruvian good, if you live within 20 minutes of Aji Limon and are in the mood for Peruvian food, this is the place to go. There is a bar with a small drink selection, luckily Aji Limon is BYOB which makes it great for a date night. Also, the waiters will accommodate you with a stand and a bucket of ice which. The bathrooms are well maintained and the restaurant has a really nice, authentic décor of Peru. Pros: + Friendly Staff + Slightly Above Average Peruvian Food + Ceviche is better than most local places + Tacu Tacu is a must try + Well maintained bathroom + Nice décor + BYOB Cons: — Not enough drink selections — Parking can be tough when restaurant is busy

Haven’t been here in yeaaaars so MAYBE the food got better but i doubt i’ll go back anytime soon. The place is nice. The nicest Peruvian restaurant in Passaic county only because the rest are hole in the walls. As far as the food. Blah! From what i can remember… Jalea was small portion and overcooked, fried rice had way too much soy sauce so it was salty, pescado a lo macho was pretty good but a bit salty, ceviche had no flavor and barely any leche de tigre and the lomo saltado was just okay. Maybe the only reason why this place is still in business is because its in Main st Clifton, the nearest peruvian or latino spot is in passaic or paterson and what gringo wants to go there for lunch? Yes i say gringo because it seems like this place would only be good for gringos that never had Peruvian food.

Review of our take-out experience… was really disappointed overall. $ 26 for some Peruvian rice«fusion» which basically tasted like the regular fried rice I can get at my take-out Chinese place, inedible tostones which were as hard & tasteless as hockey pucks and yucca fries which were«okay.» I spent way too much money for what I got… perhaps dining in would be better although I won’t be going back again. That’s why in the restaurant business, you never get another chance to make a good first impression!

* mixed seafood ceviche(this was a huge plate of seafood, choclo which is the Peruvian corn, sweet potato and white potato; the seafood was fresh, perfectly salted and the pickled red onions on top were delicious! there was a mix of fish, shrimp, octopus, and not sure what else was going on in there haha; regardless the sauce was so good! it was sour, garlicky and spicy, I actually just started eating spoonfuls of it without the seafood; this plate was $ 17 which was well worth the price considering how large the portion was, it can honestly suffice as a entrée) * parihuela(seafood soup; the broth was absolutely delicious! they probably boiled the seafood in that water before adding spices to it to create the broth; it was savory and spicy and a perfect consistency; this serving was huge so plan on sharing it); * jalea(fried fish, calamari, mussels all served with fried yuca and pickled red onions; the fish was so good!!! super moist and perfectly cooked albeit a little on the salty side; the calamari were huge but on the chewy side; I loved the batter, it was light and crispy; the tartar sauce was delicious and they need to provide a larger serving of it with this huge plate of food. I don’t know how anybody can possibly eat this plate of fried food as an entrée. It is honestly WAY too much as an entrée and is better to place under an appetizer to be shared) * arroz chauffa mixto(beef and chicken fried rice; this was surprisingly really good except for the slightly overcooked beef; the rice was seasoned right and consistency of rice was good; there was soo much meat on this plate and I would have appreciated a little less; coming from somebody who is Chinese and grew up on fried rice, I gotta give them props for this) * tostones(these were alright; I don’t know if they left these out and just toasted them upon ordering because they were a little hard and pretty chewy; not impressed with these at all) * fried yuca(meh, I’ve definitely had better fried yuca; not the best quality yuca because the texture was off and not that powdery consistency) * chichamurrada(yes!!! I loved their version! lightly spiced and lightly sweetened; some places are a little heavy handed with their spices so the drink is like potpourri or they add way too much sugar so you’re reaching for water constantly but Aji Limon got it right! it’s only $ 2 a glass and $ 8 per pitcher! so worth it!) This place was very cute inside. Lighting was warm and inviting. The seating arrangement is great so that there’s enough room between tables and you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. The service was questionable. The beginning of the service was fine; they paid attention to you and made sure you had water and checked up on you. When we were done with our meal, we sat there and waited forever until someone came to clear the table. Then the young boy took ONE plate at a time! Hahhaah! I was like, this is unreal!!! Whoever the manager or owner is needs to train the staff how to stack plates and clear the table properly. Food is pretty good. I’d go back to try more, but maybe get to-go and not have to endure their service again.

I went here for a weeknight dinner a few months ago and am ashamed to say I haven’t been back since. But that won’t last for long. Peruvian food can be really unique and special and I’m happy to say the food here was excellent in every way — large portions, inexpensive, flavorful, and fun to eat. I tried: –Toasted giant corn kernels(free and much better than starting the meal with bread) –Potatoes in cheese sauce(MUCH better than it sounds even though it already sounds pretty good) –Seafood ceviche(best I’ve had outside of South America) –Chicha(purple corn drink with intoxicating spices and sweetness) –The«Poor Man’s Steak»(steak, salad, rice, fried egg, sweet plantains, french fries — DELICIOUS, although the egg was overcooked) –Beef Fried Rice(very tasty and a good example of Peruvian cuisine’s penchant for incorporating Chinese influences) Really happy with this meal and Aji Limon definitely deserves to get a lot more business.

Shrimp ceviche was great. Bistek was just ok. Choufa was good. The pescado de hombre was great. Cozy place. Pretty dead on a Sunday. Took about 15 mins to get our drink/food order but food came out pretty fast. Not as authentic as I anticipated.

Not as cheap as the places in Paterson but definitely better quality food. I am a fan of the lomo dishes both chicken and steak. The dining area is very nice. The service is good too. It is BYOB!

We’ve been here twice and both times the service has been impeccable and the food as good as it gets. We love the stuffed avacado and the plantains. Both times I ended up bringing food home and love the fact that it is a BYO. We will be back!

The restaurant looks great with a friendly staff. The food sadly, isn’t so great. Had the arroz chaufa de mariscos(seafood fried rice) and the rice was old and hard, the seafood was over cooked and tasted like it was seasoned for the arroz de mariscos(yellow rice and seafood) which my cousin ordered. I don’t think I will be giving this place another shot.

Wish I could give no stars. Any place that gives you food poisoning doesn’t even deserve one star — and that’s just what Aji Limon gave me — FOODPOISONING! One of my favorite parts of Peruvian food is smothering everything in Aji sauce. Man am I sorry I asked them to bring me extra Aji sauce. It tasted like nothing I’ve ever tasted. The only way to describe it is that it tasted how burnt rubber or melting plastic smells. Absolutely horrid. I tried to scrape it all off of my chicken arroz choufa, but don’t think I was successful. Anyway, from the second that slop touched my mouth I felt ill and it only got worse as the night went on. This restaurant made me vomit like I never did before — and this was the first time I puked since I was 14 years old(I’m 26) Never ever again. I wouldn’t go back if someone paid me to. STAYAWAY!

I don’t understand how this place has so many positive reviews! The food has been so watered down to fit the American palette, it’s embarrassing. I had the pollo saltado, there was hardly any chicken in it, it looked white as opposed to a nice carmelized color that it should have and it lacked salt. And«garlic» white rice? There was not an ounce of garlic flavor in that white rice. The peruvian hot sauce, where was the hot part??? Such a disappointment. Nice ambiance though, that was about it. Will not be back.

Walked in around 3pm today(Saturday). The waiter was friendly and offered me a sample of chincha morada a Peruvian drink made from boiling Peruvian purple corn with apples, lemons and sugar — when I informed him I had never tried it. I tried it… It looked like grape juice, but tasted like fruit punch, not a fan of it. I ordered the grilled chicken breast with salad and replaced the grilled potatoes with green fried plantains instead. When my order arrived, the chicken was grilled to golden perfection, moist and very flavorful, it was delicious. The restaurant only had a couple of tables occupied at the time of my visit, so I can’t describe what the ambiance is like during their busy hours, other than it is very nicely decorated. You have the option of dining outside, I dined inside. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes. :)
