An actual Irish bar– no Celtic lettering, no Guinness ads from 2003, no TVs showing sports, no hideous Murray Hill bros. Haven’t tried the food yet but will absolutely return for some soda bread and Guinness stew. Mike, one of the owners/bartenders, let us yack his ear off for an hour about our limited time spent in Ireland so five stars for the craic, five stars for the brews, and five stars for an extremely patient bartender.

The place is class. It combines the ambiance of a speakeasy, the prices of a local bar and the spirit of good old Ireland that comes through food and design of the place.

I really love Hartley’s. Jimmy is my favorite top 10 bartender of all time. He’s definitely Irish. He is very charming. They have really good brussel sprouts and I’m always pleasantly surprised by the beer selection. I had the mussels, they were really good. I’m excited about Clinton Hill as a place that’s coming into its own in the way that Williamsburg and Bedstuy are doing their thang.

This place is great! Very professional, personable staff, excellent selection of draft beers. The size and layout lets it get crowded enough for a fun Saturday night, but you’re not throwing elbows to order a beer. Excellent place to relax on a weekday night

Love that this bar is open in the neighborhood. Best Guinness I’ve had outside of Ireland and the boys who run it are the the perfect example of how Irish hospitality should be. Cosy, intimate spot that’s perfect for the current climate!

Lovely little new comer to the neighborhood. Chill music. Nice low lit atmosphere. Perfect for a date.(I’ve been told the food is good though I haven’t tried it yet.)

Such a great addition to the neighborhood. Great beer selection and a menu to die for! Ridiculously amazing service. The barman brought our drinks, checked in on us a few times and brought us a giant bottle of water, all unprompted and with a big smile! Will definitely be back as part of a weekly routine.

Found this place on my way home last week. What a great addition to the neighborhood, warm and welcoming and it doesn’t have the divey feel like everything else nearby. I haven’t tried the food but will update this review when I do!

Great little bar. I met a friend here for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat last Saturday. The food was excellent Irish comfort food, I had the mussels and soda bread, my friend had the stew, everything was delicious. Jimmy the cute Irish was attentive without being annoying. Hooray Hartleys! What a little gem of a neighborhood bar

So happy this little place opened right around the corner from my apartment! I got cheddar popcorn, boyf got stew – 10pm on a Saturday and it was packed, but service was fast and food was warm and delicious. Had a really nice glass of wine for $ 8. Again, really friendly and fast table service even with a full house. This will def be my new regular place! Very small and the music is pretty loud, but it didn’t ruin our experience.

After watching the nice Irish lads working at their pub through the summer, I walked in last night and what a pleasant surprise it was! White washed walls, no blaring TV, great music, well poured Guinness and great drinks, and a small but attractive menu. We had the mussels in beer with authentic Irish thyme soda bread to sop the sauce with, a great grilled cheese, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening with the help of Mike, one of the owners I assume. Great atmosphere, good for a date since you will actually be able to have a conversation!

Excellent service. Lovely ambience. Good music. Loved the food, the brussels sprouts were perfectly done. Real soda bread. The cheesy toast has a magical cheddar. The bartender said they were going to start doing brunch soon.

Very pleasant little pub! Brand new, quiet, and intimate. Friendly, welcoming, no-attitude bartender-owner. Other positives: no 450 in. TVs blasting at you, no attempt to set new decibel levels with the music. Just a nice selection of brews, wines, and drinks in a welcoming environment. Great looking Irish menu that I arrived too late to sample, alas…
