Excellent fish & chips; Although I’d pass on the coleslaw. You’re definitely here for the food, not the atmosphere. Large portions of crispy/tender fish. This is primarily a take-out place as our dine-in selections were served in a take-out box complete with packets of tarter sauce. Recommend using the vinegar for the authentic London touch.

Looking for a good, authentic English fish and chips? THIS is the place to get it! A rather small joint, it’s very quaint and personal on the inside. All we’ve only seen working there is the owner of the place. You order at the counter and then he’ll deliver it fresh to your table. Everything is made fresh and only when you order it. We had the 3 piece cod, hush puppies, chips(steak fries), and coleslaw. Prices are reasonable, and you can even get everything to go. If I were to rate them I would give them. London Fish and Chips is the best fish place I know… Trust me, you will not be disappointed; and if you are then there is something wrong with you.

Serves the basic fish and chips with a few others added in. My only REAL complain is the lack of HOMEMADE tartar sauce. They use packets!!! All you specialize in is fish and chips and yet you can’t make tartar sauce. SMH! Service is lackluster. But, hey the gentlemen threw some extras in the mix. All in all a good place to go, but could be better.

After calling twice to place a take away order with no answer I decided to drive there to place an order in person. I had a real craving for fish and chips and o love to support local independent businesses. When I arrived, though the lights were on and the sign said they were open no one was there. I saw a small post it on the door saying«Back in 10 minutes». After sitting in the parking lot 20 minutes I noticed someone come in the back door. At that point I actually decided to leave instead of order. I will point out that I do not live very close to this establishment so I was torn about the decision. However, I am a Food & Beverage director for a very large cruise line and I will not give my business to such a sloppily run place. I take the poor management of operations as an indication of the quality of the food. Furthermore even sitting outside the restaurant it look dirty and not presented very well. I would not recommend that you give this place any business. Pathetic. If I was the owner I would be furious with the management. I have never written a Unilocal review before. But I really feel compelled.

Fish and chips may seem like something you can’t mess up, but when you have to eat bad fish, you know it. Stanky, gamey, greasy, leaden in your gut … London Fish & Chips is precisely none of that. If there is a better place to get straight(as in non-beer battered) fish in the Shores/Roseville/Harrison Township area, I haven’t found it. The fish is clean and not greasy, meaty and the portions are outstanding. The chips are steak fries, which I adore(and, if you like malt vinegar, much better for soaking up the vinegar than shoestring). Hush puppies are crunchy balls of flavor explosions, like a deep fried seasoned cornmeal ball, but better. A three piece meal will fill you up without making you feel like you have a ball of grease in your gut. And if you’re feeding a group of 3 or 4, the School Of Fish deal can’t be beat. If that doesn’t convince you, I’ve taken English people there, and they said it tasted like they were home again. If that isn’t a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is.

Husband loves this place. Cook is always gruff but fish is so good you dont mind. Don’t eat in restaurant, it is very greasy. Carryout is huge. Fish is fantastic. A little pricey for a hole in the wall but good stuff!

EXCELLENT!!! Great food, great service! Cooked fresh and NOT sitting around under heat lamps like some other places often do! Will be back and will recommend to all and sundry! 100%!!!

Best place for fish & chips in South Eastern Michigan! If you like fish & chips, this is the place for you! Small shop. It is more of a take out place than a place for you to sit & eat. I love the crunch from the fish & chips. It wasn’t too oily. Hushpuppies & coleslaw were on point. Crab cakes were good but I felt deceived since I thought they were going to be bigger instead of bite size pieces. Next time, I will try the oysters & shrimp. Owner can have a sharp tongue, but seems like a lovable guy. He definitely does not like to waste time. My food was ready in 15 minutes from the time I placed my togo order. He should think about having a tipping option on his credit card machine. The business has been here since 2001. He must be doing something right. Overall, great food. Fast service. Reasonably price. Support a local business.

This place is dirty, like every surface is sticky dirty. I wish I would have looked around before I paid. Just threw $ 20 worth of food out because it tasted like pure grease from the black deep fryer. Avoid this joint.

First timer(just moved to the area) and was blown away by the quality.(especially for a carryout) We ordered the School of Fish(plus hush puppies) for 5 adults and it was more than enough food. The fish was super meaty and extra crispy. My husband doesn’t like hush puppies but said he loves these! The coleslaw was just ok for our liking but liked the zingy flavor. After our meal was finished we had about ½ of the food left because there was so much food in this meal! We will definitely be back very soon!

Very yummy! My wife & I tried the 2 pieces of fish –w– chips, cole slaw, and hush puppies special for $ 8.35. It was very enjoyable. Wish the slaw had more bite but it was still good. I would recommend this place for sure.

Tried this place for the first time last night and was totally blown away by the quality of the fish and shrimp. They were freshly made lightly breaded and fried to perfection. They were minimally greasy. The fries were of the steak fry type and were well cooked. The hush puppies were flavorful nuggets with lots of great texture. My only negative quibbling comments would be that the cole slaw was uninteresting and the tarter and cocktail sauce were in mass produced packets that left something to be desired.

The guy IS a grumpy ass, but it’s lovable. He really is deep down a good guy… with a sharp tongue. Make sure you have your coupon ready before ordering so you don’t screw him up, because he will let you know how he feels about that. The Fish: Good. And they are pretty big pieces. Hush puppies: Good. Chips: Decent Crab cakes: Pass. They seem a bargain for the price until you realize you can’t tell them from the Hush Puppies they are so small. There is one determining factor to tell the difference though: They’re burnt and not fresh. You may want to purchase a bottle of Malt Vinegar if you get take out and like a lot of vinegar.

By far the BEST Fish and Chips in Southeastern Michigan(and maybe farther). The guy is not grumpy, just quiet and shy. I don’t know about the lunch problems because we only ever eat dinner, but I do believe that the«guy» is the only employee. I’ve seen some people in there during the Lenten Season when any fish place would be busier but usually it is just him, so not surprised he occasionally isn’t around at lunch. Regardless, it is definitely worth going. I like to add a half dozen of the shrimp to my 3 piece meal. My one daughter that doesn’t like fish, loves the chicken strips. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

The guy seems grumpy, and the prices are a little high, but the fish really is great. There’s not much sitting space inside though, so I’d recommend ordering carry out from here(plus, you’ll save yourself from smelling like fish all day).

I too have been to this place several times and have yet to find it open. I know they still advertise in those monthly magazines and they advertise they open at 11am, and this is also posted on their front door. I’ve been told this place is like the former Milroy’s Fish & Chips Restaurant in Eastpointe, which has been closed many years. I have been there three times over the last several months and still have yet to find them open. All three times, arriving between 12noon and 2pm … no cars in parking lot, door locked … but they still advertise in the monthly coupon magazines you receive in the mail.

I do not understand this place? I never see cars there or people eating there or even inside at all, and I drive by several times a day(Im a drivers ed instructor and am on the road ALL of the time). The hours posted on the door say it opens at 11am(IIRC), and Ive been there 3x now at 11:45-noon and the place isnt opened. I would LOVE to try it out. A few of my students rave about it. However, Im kind of wondering if its a front to ‘another’ kind of business operation! I hope Im wrong. Either that, or whoever opens needs to be taken back and beaten b/c Im sick and tired of showing up AFTER they open and the place is still closed, lights off. Very unprofessional. Strange…
