Surprisingly delicious and always consistent. I have been coming here since they first opened. The cashier is always competent and friendly. They work with me when I want to do substitutions. They could wipe down some of the tables more often but other than that I have no complaints. I always get an order of the fried dumplings and there bento boxes are of nice proportion and they offer BROWNRICE. Yay! They have a nice selection of bottled drinks as well… not a fan of the obbession with Rock Creek Sodas and bowls of teas at the carry outs.

I happened to be in the Clinton, MD area when I saw this carryout/eat in. However, I stopped in to order a couple of salmon rolls. When I put in the order she said you know it is «raw» and I said yes it is. I told the person that I wanted to have a little wasabi put«inside» the roll. She emphatically said«NO.» I asked why not and she said because wasabi is very spicy and we don’t make it that way. I guess she was eating it and not me! I said, Yes and that is why I am asking you to put the wasabi in the roll. She proceeded to rant and rave about how no one makes sushi rolls like that. At that point I should have walked out, but she called to the sushi chef and started talking in whatever language. Then she said«this chef will make for you, but no one else will. I was hungry and had my mouth set for sushi so I said fine, since I won’t be coming back and I could see him making the roll. I should have went with my instinct and walked out. If I had known that they make salmon rolls with rice on the outside with sesame seeds I would have said to forget it. But after all that ruckus in ordering I wanted to see how good the sushi was here. The chef proceeded to call me over to see if he had put enough wasabi on the«seaweed» and I said that’s fine. I took it over my brother’s house to eat it and the salmon was cut too chunky to stay in the roll and after eating a couple of pieces I threw it away because the salmon was definitely not fresh. I will never taste anything else from THIS Japan Express because of the«customer service» of this rude cashier. Japan Express in Clinton is not really a sushi bar, it is very limited in choice of raw fish. If you are a lover of sushi and«know» how good sushi tastes, in my opinion, Japan Express is definitely not the place to eat sushi.

Decent establishment. Neat, orderly, fresh food, hot and served fairly quick.(Nothing beats calling in your order ahead.) It’s our go to spot for sushi. Service isn’t warm or friendly, but that doesn’t make it rude or unnerving. We love the crunchy shrimp and crazy rolls. There are tables for you to sit and dine in, but most people use the tables to wait for their orders.

Pretty decent on the habachi style of the Japanese food my adventures here have become a re-occuring thing when I come to this part of town. What you can expect here is the following FASTFOOD decent sushi and 5 dollar terriyaki chicken boxes before 4 alltho my only complaint is the woman in short hair got my order wrong so I told her and so insted of apologiesing she decided to laugh and yell back to her co-workers that I was a baka baka which if ur not familer with means idiot other than that good eating

Fresh, fast, and delicious! I stumbled by accident and I’m glad. Bento box are made to order and you can see it happening in front of your face. Portion to price is good and you get a nice variety of things in the bento box. I know if I’m in the area again I would stop by this place for sure.

My favorite place! Fast, great service! Amazing food! The cooks always get my order right. Also, when they say ‚” it will be ready in 10 minutes.” It it ready on time.

There isn’t a lot of selection in the area for Japanese cuisine and for a quick sit down or takeout meal, it isn’t bad but as for the sushi I definitely would not come back again. I had the spider roll which was completely coated in what I believe is a spicy mayo sauce and the imitation crab meat did not go well with the soft shell crab and the soft shell crab had no seasoning. I also had the spicy tuna, it was definitely not fresh and didn’t taste like tuna. Imitation tuna? The seaweed salad was the only thing that I ate all of only because the rest of the sushi items left a lot to be desired. I would come back to try the chicken teriyaki since the other reviews speak highly of that.

They gave out coupons in the little coupon mailer and I got steak and shrimp with noodles and veggies my son got the same and a salmon tempura roll or something like that was a cooked salmon roll. Good portion, fresh not overly greasy or salty. Very reasonable even without coupon.

I been to a handful of sushi restaurants in the Chinatown Washington DC area and must I say, Japanese Express sushi is amazing. The taste is sooo fresh. I recommend everyone who are sushi lovers to please go by and try them out you will leave amazed. I never knew Clinton had a sushi restaurant near by, I always traveled to Waldorf mall to get sushi. But this restaurant is now my new restaurant for sushi. AMAZINGJOBGUYS

Nice quick sit down spot for some sushi and Asian cuisines. My kids and I recommend the Hawaii Roll /Black Dragon Roll for those wanting to try something new. Fresh white tuna was excellent sashimi…

Finally! A decent place for reasonably priced and good sushi in southern PG County. I’ve been waiting for this place and I’m not disappointed. My usual favorite order is the spicy shrimp roll with brown rice. VERY good indeed and I’m a regular sushi eater. Now that it’s open, I go by there at least once weekly.

Ok, if you are hardcore foodie, this may not be the place for you. But considering we’re talking about Clinton, MD here, I think Japan Express hits the spot! There isn’t even an OPTION for sushi/japanese food for miles. Now, I actually don’t like sushi, so I’ve only tried their hibachi meals and other items on the menu. From the outside, it looks like your typically corner chinese food place, but it’s better than that. I had the seaweed salad, which is my measuring stick for any japanese restaurant. I loved it, just as good as most others I’ve tried. I tried the teryaki chicken roll, I really enjoyed that. It’s their teryaki chicken, rolled in rice and seaweed. Thumbs up! I had the teryaki chicken with fried rice and veggies. It’s not as good as real live hibachi restaurant, food cooked in front of you, but it was yummy. The rice was well cooked and flavorful, the chicken was sauced up nicely. Wish there were more veggies, but how many ppl like veggies as much as I do? ;-)
