STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING! Seriously just stop what you doing and try this place. I don’t care where you live, it is totally worth the drive. Holy crap! This place has the best subs and their bread is AMAZING !!

Clinton is a no loss for good pizza/​sub places, but this one stands apart from the crowd. I don’t know what they put in their tuna, but it is like crack. Have it on top of a salad, if you are being good (they must use 2 + cans per order), or even better, in a sub on their perfect, fresh, chewy homemade bread… I could eat it every day. If you’re not a tuna person, everything else from here is good, too, though — the hot subs (chicken Parmesan — yum!), the chicken salad, everything. Cheap, too! And friendly service.

Great stuff! I ordered a steak and cheese and mushroom sub (or grinder, as we call them) and it was huge – ven though it was only the small version. Good stuff. Really like the garlic bread too. Will definitely come back.

Love their chicken finger grinders! If you order a small or a large, they use their home made bread, which is amazing! They also have great pasta & cheesy garlic bread!

Had Mr. Z’s pizza for the first time and liked it! We ordered take out, they were quick to get to us and the food was hot. We had antipasto salad it was good sized, they did not skimp (didn’t love the italian dressing), ordered spaghetti with marinara, the sauce was light, flavor was good, bread tasted fresh and was soft. We were starving as we hadn’t eaten all day and it was 9 p.m. so we ordered a small veggie pizza too and we’re impressed, they did not skimp on anything, I loved crust it was not greasy at all which was great. We will definitely eat here again, maybe dine in next time as I am super excited to try the eggplant parm sandwich and my husband the lasagna. Thanks it was great!

Foods really good but the service is terrible. I think today was my final straw to stop going here. First off, never get delivery. I’ve ordered twice for delivery and both times I kid you not the driver came 2 – 3 hours after I ordered. The first time we kept calling and they just kept saying, «30 minutes 30 minutes,» 2 and a half hours later our pizza is cold and all my friends are unhappy they let me pick the pizza place. Now today, Ha. Ha… I’d called at 620, first thing I said was «I’d like to make an order to pick up at 7,» the girl ends the conversation with, «ok it will be ready in 10 minutes,» had to call back because I said 7 and she hung up before I could correct her. But that’s not even what I’m mad about. I ordered potato skins. You know what I got? No cheese, no bacon, no nothing. Just fucking plain ass potato cups. Who is the fucking moron that puts potato skins in the oven with NO CHEESE and says to themselves, «oh that looks right, good job me». Not fucking me I’ll tell you that. Fucking really pisses me off when I sign out of work and leave on my break and sit down to my order being messed up, and I won’t even have the time to bring it back. Place used to be my favorite till they hired people that can’t remember to put the cheese on potato skins, or make my friends wait 3 hours for pizza where if I knew it would take as long as it did I would of fucking crawled there and made it there faster. Bring back old management please.

I really do like the quality of the food here. The homemade bread for the subs is fantastic. But lately, the food orders are always wrong. The last 3 times we ordered, our subs were made incorrectly, either leaving out things we asked for or adding things we did not ask for. Not sure when or if we’ll give them another try.

Pizza is just ok. They use a conveyor oven and it leaves it greasy and soggy. The cheese is plain cheddar shredded on-​site. I prefer a mozzarella blend. The subs on the other hand are THE BEST AROUND. They use fresh baked italian bread, and the meats are high quality. If you do not want a whole loaf of bread, they do have regular sub rolls like you would find anywhere else. The new owners are also much nicer than the last jackass that owned the place.

rating with one star based on most recent order for delivery. called at 5:30, gave address clearly, twice. and we have our house number on both sides of the mailbox and front door. they asked for my number incase of issues finding the address. was told my order would be here in 30 min or less. it’s been over an hour and I’m still waiting and they haven’t tried once to call me… not sure what happened to my order. 7÷12÷2015, ordered at 5:30, currently 6:41.

Mr. Z’s gets four stars for a small eggplant sub because the lady at the counter was so friendly, because the roll (for the small only) was baked in-​house and therefore was excellent, and because the sandwich was $ 6.01 before tip, in a world where $ 8 sandwiches have become common. The sandwich had a nice, fresh flavor. I prefer a sauce with a strong garlic/​oregano/​basil flavor but it was good. They followed my instructions for very light cheese, extra sauce. The eggplant was nice but very slightly undercooked. Overall, I was pleased and will be back.

Went for lunch recently. Had a really good cheese pizza. I give service 4out of 5 stars. I was wrangling two kids and the counter help assisted with our order by handing items over a wall that separates the dining area from the entry. I wondered why she did not come to the table.
Ambiance is great. However, I was looking to cool off but they had no air conditioning. That did not make sense to me. The bathroom was reasonable but could be nicer. plenty of comfortable seating.
The kids ran amuck yelling and laughing. All was good. They were cleaning dining room tables as we left. Awesome.

As a New Yorker, it’s still odd to me that so much of the country doesn’t serve slices of pizza. But then you taste the pizza and you understand why. While that’s not always the case, it certainly was here. Greasy, bland and overall tasting like subpar frozen pizza.

Owner is a jerk! Doesn’t train employees and doesn’t follow through, to bad because food was great but staff make it and awful place

Mr. Z’s is a little hole-​in-​the-​wall pizza restaurant in Clinton… the land of pizza joints. So what sets it apart? The cheese pizza, that’s what.
This pizza is absolutely addictive. I know people who have moved away who specifically request Zs plain cheese pizza upon returning home. My boyfriend and I have ordered from there almost every week for the entire summer.
Not to knock their toppings or other flavors, but really, you HAVE to have the cheese pizza. Everything else is good — but the plain cheese is FANTASTIC. Try it once and you’ll be a convert — I promise.

I’ve been going to Mr. Z’s for at least 5 years. We usually get take out, but my kids really like eating inside sometimes so we have definitely done both. They are very generous with their toppings. The Meat Lovers Pizza is the best.
I’ve had many of their pizzas, and other dishes and they are all very good and they are ready quickly. My favorite is their meatball parm sub. The few times I have had problems with my order (in 5 years) they are very quick to resolve the issue.

We had takeout pizza from here and I was in the car with the baby, so frankly, I can’t comment on the inside. I had a piece of both the Greek pizza and one with pepperoni and black olives. Those Mr. Z’s was generous with the toppings, the flavorings on the Greek pizza were inconsistent and there was actually too much feta cheese (very salty). The other pizza kind of just seemed greasy. I think I’ll stick to P&S next time.
