I have lived in the area for about 9 years now and have heard of SMS and driven by it but had never stopped in before this past weekend. I am very pleased with the place. The server ws very friendly, and the food was good. I had the SMS House burger which was amazing and perfectly cooked. I know they have music on most nights, I cannot speak to that, I was only there for lunch, but would definitely go back again.

well I couldn’t tell you why but I keep coming back here with friends. I guess because of the convenient location? All the food here is so bad. I love Caesar salad so I get it everywhere and you’d think that would be a hard thing to mess up but somehow this place makes the worst one I’ve ever had. Also they try to do events like weekly trivia and me and my friends go to that sometimes but even that’s terrible. the trivia dj is always boring and strange and most people there don’t participate anyway and the ones who do are very drunk so there’s no real challenge. the only redeeming quality of this place is that they serve fried Oreos. which are surprisingly very good. but that’s probably because they’re fried Oreos and those cant be bad.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Waitress refuses to provide service despite having made eye contact and her passing the table several times. Seats are half full at best and it’s not nearly busy enough to justify that level of being ignored. Awful, simply awful.

Good music. Yummy Jell-O shots. Great wings. Fun local dive. We’ve never had bad service. The servers are fast, funny and as attentive as possible. The lunch specials are cheap & tasty.

I was in Clinton for a wake and was looking for a place to have a quick meal. This place was on a main road with plenty of street parking. We walked in and it seemed very divey, but I had read good reviews so decided to give it a whirl. I ordered the Western burger with spicy fries. I was a little disappointed they didn’t have sweet potato fries, but I was elated at how amazing their spicy fries were. I can honestly say they served me one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life. It was cooked perfectly and so juicy. My friend ordered a BLT with waffle fries and she cleaned her plate as well. It was seat yourself, so it took a bit for the bartender to notice us, but once she did, she came right over with menus and was very cheerful. There were no other people dining, but several regulars seated at the bar. Don’t be turned off by the setting and how it looks inside, & definitely try the burger! The menu was very extensive and had a lot of options… appetizers: dips, zucchini fries, wings, etc and lots of pizza, sandwiches, subs, salads, your typical pub food, but delicious! If I ever find myself in Clinton again, I’ll definitely stop by. The only negative thing was that there was no A/C, so in the dead of July, I was sweating BALLS. They should at least have fans on!

If you’re looking for a fun, upbeat, classic neighborhood bar/pub, this is your place! It’s located on high st in Clinton, which looks like it’s straight out of the turn of the century, and the bar is no different. It’s a classic saloon that also serves very respectable food. The bar itself is nice. Good, long bar with plenty of room, and they have tables and booths available as well. On the weekends, they have bands, and there’s plenty of room for that as well. It’s nothing fancy, but if you’re looking for a place like this, you’re not looking for fancy! It’s relaxing and casual. The beer/drink selection is decent, and the menu is pretty extensive. They offer much of the«American fare» you would expect at a saloon like this, but the quality is probably higher than you might expect. If you’re looking to watch the big game on TV, they have you covered there, too. Several flat screen TV’s are hung throughout the place, so it’s also conductive to that. Overall, a nice neighborhood saloon, and definitely one of my «go-to» spots if I want to have a relaxed drink and watch the game.

Black and blue burger was on point. Came in for a quick dinner on Christmas Eve Eve and got speedy service. Looked like there was only one stressed waitress for the whole place, but she was friendly, our food was hot, order wasn’t messed up and the drink was good. Luncheon fish and chips looked small, but exactly the perfect dinner size. My black and blue burger was phenomenal. Highly, highly recommend! The only downside was the Caesar salad we had as a starter, really weird tasting and don’t really like it Will be coming back for more.

We went here during the early afternoon for a few appetizers and certainly won’t be back. First, I don’t think they bothered turning the heat on so if you’d like to eat here bring your winter hat. We had nachos and I would have rather made them myself. Once we removed the pound of lettuce we found the chips with little cheese. We had buffalo wings as well and there were 5 little nubbins. They lacked flavor. We will not be back.

Second impression can sometimes be BEST! The first time I went here, I have to admit I was not impressed. Went for lunch and the server wasn’t that nice and my burger was burnt. Fries weren’t that great so we didn’t return for a while. Decided to give it ANOTHERTRY since I kept hearing how good it was. NOW I LOVETHESIMPLEMAN!!! The food is now VERY good and service is better too. Love their wings!!! Drinks are good, shot are great! Dont ask for too much if they are busy though, the bartenders can seem irritated. We asked for a large wing half bbq and half honey mustard which are AWESOME and the bartender told us since they aren’t busy they can do it, but if they were busy they wouldn’t! LOL Love the bands too! Very clean I recommend this place to everyone!!!

Yuengling finally lands in NE! Yes! Great burgers, crispy fries and decent zucchini sticks… Been here for the live bands, good times. One complaint … Got the first pour from the keg … First pint was half foam… Next time asset that pint aside and serve me a full pint and the 5th star is yours!

Went for an early dinner on a Friday night. The after work cocktail crowd was there. It was early enough so they weren’t rowdy. Felt very comfortable there with my 19 year old daughter. I had the Blue Bacon Burger and an IPA and my daughter had the clam strips. Both meals were terrific. Service was prompt and friendly. My daughter’s cole slaw was the best I’ve ever eaten. Used to go to the Manor until recently. Stopped going after two bad experiences after their renovations. Read my review of The Manor. I hope the Simple Man stays consistent.

Stopped in on a Wednesday night with a friend for dinner — rectangular room with storefront-style windows, bar, booths, tables, seat yourself, sizeable menu. Was recommended the SMS Steak-Bomb Sub by our friendly and helpful bartender. It may be the best one I’ve ever had. Biting in was a burst of great, bold flavor, high-quality meat, plenty of cheese and onion. Outstanding and very filling. I’m not a bread fan(gluten, you know), but this masterpiece was stuffed into soft, thin bread, ever so lightly toasted. Really great. And the option for sweet-potato fries was most welcome. I’ve been thinking about this meal since I had it. A wonderful surprise — compliments to the chef. Recommended.

This was a very pleasant surprise. Good, creative food. Awesome Wednesday night pasta special. Good seafood. Friendly, hard-working staff. Live music regularly. Good selection of locally-crafted draft beers. I stopped in for the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals. The TVs are big, bright and well angled. Good sounding room for when I had seen Flock of A-holes.

All I can say is thank goodness I insisted that I was hungry! Never having been to Clinton, I was hoping they’d have somewhere I could eat to top off my most fabulous day on a high note. And yeah they did. Walking in, I was a little worried. This was just a small town bar with a few booths, a bunch of high tops and lots of TV’s over the bar. Not usually the look of a place with stellar food. Instead of ordering an entrée each, we decided to split two apps. As Kerri mentioned, we chose the nachos and the wings. Was it fate that led us to garlic parmesan or just the fact that I’m not a BBQ kind of girl? Whatever the reason, we were pleased with the result. The nachos could have been so much better. They were pretty lacking, we’ll leave it at that. But oh yeah, those wings! They really were huge. I mean I’ve never seen wings this size. The smell coming off these wings was ambrosia. They seriously smelled like fresh Italian chicken cutlets. I knew immediately that we were gonna reek. One taste said it didn’t matter. So if you find yourself in Clinton and you find yourself hungry, you should really find yourself here. I can’t wait to hear if the other flavors are just as amazing!
