Love Table 128. It is a unique gourmet restaurant smack dab in the middle of the suburbs. I just wish they were open for lunch on the weekends!

Slow service even though few people there. Decent food, but server won’t ask how your food is.

Wow, maybe some of the best food in DeMo. I joined a colleague for lunch and sat on their patio. We didn’t get an umbrella and that is my only complaint! The shellfish bisque was totally amazing! Creamy and delicious, I could have eaten just that. But really glad I didn’t. It tasted like the ocean in a bowl. I had the featured lunch entrée, salmon on a bed of quinoa with haricots verts on a spread of a smoky jam. The salmon was cooked perfect, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The smoked jam matched the quinoa amazingly giving it that perfect amount of flavor to compliment the fish. Just that dish alone has made me a huge fan of the food here. Fine dining in DeMo well West DeMo/Cliveish area. Can’t wait for a date with my favorite dining companion.

We’ve been here a few times and had good experiences except for our last outing there, which was not that great, but our recent visit showed that must have been an aberration. We had reservations and were seated on the patio on a night that started out breezy but ended up almost perfect. There are umbrellas on that patio that were well positioned to ward off any sun or rain. It was a bit cool inside the restaurant — perhaps gearing up for the crowd that was there by the time we left, but we enjoyed the outdoor area. The wine selection is good and prices are reasonable. I got the chefs tasting menu which consisted of a grilled salad, venison, and tiramisu. The salad was delightful, with romaine, blue cheese, walnuts, bacon, and deviled eggs — a great combination of flavors. The venison had a mild(not gamy) taste, and was a generous sized portion that was cooked to order. The tiramisu was fine — I’m not a huge fan or that dessert overall, but this one was good… and included as part of the meal. My wife had salmon with a side dish of brussel sprouts, and again, the servings were enough that she couldn’t quite finish her salmon. The salmon had a nice flavor, as did the brussel sprouts — I even had some and I’m not always a fan of them! This is closer to a $$$ meal for most people, but it’s worth it when you’re in the mood for something fresh and a bit unique for the area.

This is not a review for my dining experience but rather the fact that they were shut for a private event! I was visiting the DM area and staying at a hotel down the street. Thanks to fellow Unilocalers, I decided to come to Table 128 and after a good workout, I also planned my meal and cocktails. Now I am starving and sitting in my rental car writing this review and trying to figure out what will best replace the Ahi Tuna salad and Sweet Pea veggie burger with fries that I am craving desperately! It’s unfortunate that small restaurants take the liberty to shut down completely and their website didn’t reflect it either!!! 1 star for that!

Word among the suburban moms is that Table 128 is the place to be during the lunch hour. I went on a Friday for lunch and I felt like I was in Real Housewives of Des Moines. That being said, it’s a good place to grab lunch or dinner and enjoy some good drinks. If you have a large group I would call ahead and make reservations. Table 128 is clean and has a nice intimate feel. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and very understanding to the ladies next to us who had issues with their dishes. You’ll get great service here. All the menu items are intriguing American dishes with unique twists that made me excited to choose. To start I ordered the mussels to share. They came swimming in yummy curry sauce if that’s your thing. I then ordered the vegetarian and this is kind of when I started to feel like this place is just A-Ok. Although the plating was beautiful and the flavors all went well together, the tofu fell flat and the potatoes were undercooked, which makes me think consistency is lacking. Yet, I do want to come back here in the hopes that I can review again and try some other items. Maybe dinner? Don’t forget some of their adorably petite chocolate chip cookies located at the hostess stand on your way out! You can also purchase these if you can’t get enough.

The Angry Donuts alone(jalapeño donut fritter things) were worth going back alone. The warm chocolate chip cookies on the way out are also worth going. The entrees for dinner were good but the Cioppino didn’t compare to that of San Francisco!(sorry Table 128) — everything else was very good we had and I’d go back!

Wow, wow and wow. I’m here on business and found this place on Unilocal.Farm to table caught my eye. I had the Duck Confit and Cannales for dessert. It was gorgeous and delicious. A memorable meal.

Amazing food & service. Been there for several dinners and not one thing to complain about. The menu is constantly changing, but there is always one selection for beef, chicken and seafood. The cheese plate is always a great start and specialty cocktail of the day is never a disappointment. If you haven’t dined you must! Be warned, this will not be an inexpensive dinner. For two people, two drinks each, plus appetizer, you’re looking at $ 140 easy. Worth every penny.

This has become one of my favorite places to take my wife on a date night in Des Moines. The food is consistently good, the service is really knowledgeable and friendly, and the cocktails are the best in town by far. I like that they constantly tweak and change their dinner and drink menu with the seasons. This lets the chefs and bartenders show off. We went there on a 2÷30÷16. A busy saturday night. I made the bone headed decision to just show up. They were full. Luckily there was a table next to the bar that we could sit at. My wife always tells me we need a reservation but I never think we do. I’ve always been able to get in when I’ve showed up. So it’s nice to see that they’re doing well. I ordered the Beef Stew. It was a reimagined version of it. The braised short ribs just melted in your mouth. Perfectly cooked, juicy and freakish flavors. The mash potatoes were silky smooth and the sauce that was on the side added the heartiness of a traditional stew. It also came with three small cooked carrots. Not much of a fan of cooked carrots. In fact, it’s one of the few things I despise eating. I love the flavor it gives off in stews but I hate eating them. My wife ordered the Cioppino. It’s salmon was in a tomato broth. I have never seen salmon cooked like this. It tasted like it was seared but it wasn’t brown. It had a really light crunch to it while keeping the salmon’s color. The dish also came with some delicious mussels, fingerling potatoes and a saffron aioli. My wife loved it. Said it was one of the best dishes there she’s ever had. After dinner we ordered the bread pudding. It was served warm in a coffee cup with whipped cream on top. It was ok. Nothing great just ok. I’ve had way better desserts there before. Now for the cocktails. Really this is my favorite part about going there. To me Blake is the best mixologist in DSM and he’s been doing it for years there. The first cocktail I had was the Midleton. It was really well balanced. It’s Redbeast single-pot still whiskey, chia infused contratto, vermouth rosso, orange peel and orange bitters. The subtle chia and orange paired really well with the velvety whiskey. It was a smooth sipping cocktail that went down a little to fast. My second cocktail was the Aged Beauty. Tequila with dry curacao, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, salted sage-hone syrup, fennel garnish and a sugar salted pepper rim. It looked beautiful. I thought it was sweetly balanced. My wife really enjoyed the cocktail. The rim started you off on the adventure because when you see it you just expect salt and pepper. But the inclusion of something sweet added a different dimension to the cocktail. So in short if you’re looking for a great place to get drinks and dinner go here. They’ll take care of you.

This is one of my favorite places to go in Urbandale for a nice lunch. They have some of the best food as well as service I’ve had in a long time. This is located not too far from my work, so its perfect for business lunches. It does get busy, so if you have a large group, call a head. If you go with a group of friends, make sure take advantage of their amazing apps, Angry Donuts, Toasties, Rosemary and Parmesan fries are so delicious! For entrees, I’ve had Crab Cake Club and veggie burger from the lunch menu. I would love to try for dinner service or their Saturday Tasting Menu.

Went to eat at Table 128 for a friend’s surprise birthday dinner, but when we got there our table was not ready. I got there at 7:45pm and the reservation was for 8pm. The birthday boy showed up at 8:05pm and our table was still not ready, so everyone said surprise at the door. It would have been nice to all be seated so he couldn’t see us when walking in. When we all got seated the service was very good. Since we had a large party, everyone had to order ahead of time and person organizing the party also place orders for appetizers and entrees for the table to share. The appetizers and entrees were brought out really fast. Plus they took our drink orders rather quickly too. The tuna, mussels, meat and cheese plate, and parmesan fries were all very good. I could have just eaten the appetizers and have been satisfied. The tuna had a nice sear to it and had a lot of flavor for how simple it was cooked. The mussels were in a curry broth so that was a nice touch. The cheese plate had around 5 different cheeses to try and they weren’t too funky for my taste :) And the parmesan fries were very good since the added cheese made it different from ordinary fries. I ordered the Pork Shank and my girlfriend ordered the Cassoulet(duck). My entrée was very good. Plenty of meat with all of its meaty goodness! Not too salty and the sweet potato purée was a nice touch. I don’t enjoy all mushrooms but the ones that were in this dish was very good. The Cassoulet looked good, but it was quite salty to the point that it was overbearing. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner experience at Table 128. The service for when we were seated was exceptional, but the service up front wasn’t so much. The hostess only updated us like once while we were all waiting for our table to be ready. Plus it was a little awkward while we all waited for our table to be ready with the birthday boy just standing there. The whole point of having the dinner here was to surprise someone and that wasn’t achieved. If you’re looking for a nice dinner this place should be on your list, just don’t plan a surprise party here… unless you tell your friends to show up 1 hour early :)

5 stars doesn’t express how satisfied I was with this place. The quality of food, presentation, service, and environment are incredible. It’s a small and cozy place you would want to take a date to for some amazing food and drinks. We ordered around 6 different appetizers and individual dishes. Their tuna was amazing, and the mussels people couldn’t stop talking about. Everything was really good. Obviously there were favorites, but all the dishes were good or great. We don’t have too many really nice restaurants on the west side of Des Moines, but I could safely say this is currently my favorite. Oh, and if you have a big party, make sure to make reservations as this place is limited in space.

We are in des moines for work purposes. Our server was Andrea. Being a new yorker, i have high expectations when i go out to eat. Table 128, lead by Andrea, blew us out of the water. From the knowledge of food and drink our server had to the perfect back of the house(great job chef) execution of the food, we were shocked. Thanks Andrea and company. If we could bring this place back to nyc, we would. FYI, get cocktails, theyare as good as the food, service, and drink. Des moines dining needs to follow suit!

I had been here once, I would say the service is great. The server is very attentive and informative about their special. He suggested the special and I was happy about it. We were greeted nicely and everyone seems nice. I like how it is set up inside. It is more into comfortable feeling. The food is good but I don’t think it was all they way done. I ordered chicken and it’s pink inside. The soup took forever and it wasn’t hot when it was served. Everything is good. I would expect more for the food. Nonetheless it’s good

I think this place has great potential, but they dropped the ball on our evening. The service was just okay. My food was not good. I had the special, prawns and polenta. The polenta both looked and tasted like muddy water(maybe it was?). We wanted to get in and out in a decent time but were there for an hour and a half. Food took a long time to come in between courses. I don’t think I’d risk trying it again. See the picture of my muddy polenta, and you likely won’t either. Angry donuts were amazing as we’re the scallops according to my colleague. The salmon was overlooked according to my other colleague. Soup was okay. I would call it a mediocre experience at best. The manager called to discuss the evening, and compensated the charges. I appreciate good customer service from the top down. I will return to this place. Thank you, Sarah for your willingness to listen.

Great place for lunch. I had the Melon Salad for lunch with chicken. Simple. Nicely finished. The pickled melon was tremendous when paired with fresh melon. It was dressed lightly which I prefer. Prosciutto offered a nice smokey balance. Bed of arugula was crisp and fresh. Service was quick and friendly. Nicely done!

Had the pork entrée, simply amazing! It came with an awesome apple-bacon slaw that paired with it perfectly. The pork was succulent and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere definitely makes this place stand out. It’s a quaint little bistro nested in an area chalked mostly with chains and sports bars. They don’t have a lot of taps but the bottle and drink selection overall is expansive. They’re doing great things here despite it being a more upscale joint, it’s great spot to hit up for a variety of occasions.

Gosh darn, I wanted my dinner to be great but alas I have mixed reviews. My waitress was adequate but unfriendly. Brought our food, didn’t say a word. Never checked on us or asked us if we liked our food. My blood orange mojitos was disappointing, my cheese plate appetizer was fine. My pork chop was cooked nicely but hard to eat with so much fat. The polenta was a disappointment. The two tiny portions of corn on the cob were fantastic(wish there had been more). My cookies and cream dessert was a total let down. With all the great places in town to eat this was their one and only shot to impress me. Sadly, I doubt I will be back.

The best veggie-burger I’ve ever had! We ordered take out and were so impressed. My burger was perfectly charred and super flavorful without being mushy like most veggie burgers. It came with fries, creamy sauce and a salad. My husband ordered a curried cauliflower soup which was also excellent! Definitely recommend!

Traveling through des moines with a friend and stopped here for a late lunch. Absolutely delicious food and fantastic beer selection. Friend ordered a crab cake sandwich and the kale salad. I ordered the chipotle veggie burger and specialty cauliflower soup. Everything was amazing. I order house made veggie burgers everywhere I go and this one ranks at the top of my list. Service was great as well! Fantastic greeting at the door and waitress was very attentive. Great little find!

I remember coming here on Mothers’ Day. The manager didn’t handle that I didn’t have reservations too well. She looked at us like we were aliens and made me feel stupid for even walking in. Didn’t explain it was a special event or even invite me back another time with their normal hours. 1-star for having no people skills

It may be a little too pricy for some when it comes to the main course, but I guess the art of the food and the way it’s presented is what makes it that way. Overall it’s got a nice NYC dinning feel to it Being from NYC I know first hand and this place to hang out with friends or family.

First off, great cookies at the front desk, but that’s when the greatness ends. We went there for my husband birthday my self and his folks, service was nice but extremely slow, we had dinner reservations at 7:30pm got our salad that came with our meal around 8:20pm finally received our meal around 8:45 and it was not worth the wait, my heirloom check was bite size at best, pretty much finishes it in under 3 bites, am still hungry thinking about it, my husband and father in law had a burger rossini, and my mother in law had the lamb, a baby lamb… all that waiting, presentation to still be hungry and be late for a comedy show that started at 9:15 needless to say we won’t be back. If you like super fancy small meals that are priced high and like to sit for hours chatting with your friends over wine and slow serivce… this is your spot. Wish I would of ate more cookies :(
