Rude service — and I know you don’t go to Korean expecting service but the waitress was just downright rude. Maybe she had a bad day but she seemed particularly unfriendly to me and my non-Korean company. Sad because the meal wasn’t half bad. Dumplings tasted homemade. The bulgogi was decent and the bibim naengmyum was pretty good. Don’t really want to come back though.

Loved the noodle and dumpling soup. I would say the best place for the cold noodle and the dumpling soup. I definitely recommend.

You can go check out but I won’t drive 20 mins and wait few mins for the food here next time. One time trail was enough for me. My friend told me about this cold noodle, Naengmyun, place in NJ and we had to try this hot place in Closter which is not a main Korean community area in jersey. It was small and not fancy place but full of people on Sunday night. We ordered Hwae Naengmyun, Beef Naengmyun and Shrimp Mandoo. They have three size options: regular, double and trial size. Price is not that cheap compare to other Naengmyun places in NY and NJ area. They serve hot beef broth for each table and I was so excited to try that. Ugh it was just like instant korean noodle soup, Seolongtangmyun, plus MSG. Nothing really authentic. Finally our Naengmyun came out and I couldnt’ wait to try both. Broth was not special at all but the noodle in Beef Naengmyun was very thin and smooth so I liked it. Hwae Naengmyun noodle was too chewy and sauce was not tasty at all. Mandoo was quiet good because of its super thin skin, but I would recommend beef Mandoo because shrimp mandoo had too much black pepper and chives instead of shrimp so that you would only taste chive more than shrimp. Their service was just OK. I would not go back to this place but I think people who like handmade noodle/broth and Mandoo would enjoy their food.

This place is very delicious and all noodles are homemade! I come here often to eat Korean cold noodles. This place is not too sweet which works to my taste.

The nangmyun was a disappointment. Every time we come here, it seems like the taste gets blander and blander… There’s no depth to their dishes. We used to trek out here when we wanted some quality nangmyun but no more– Choiga isn’t the best I’ve had in the U.S., but it’s better than this joint now. That’s even more substantiated by the lack of patrons at prime time Sunday lunch hour. We left at 12:30pm, and there was only one other table filled. Over a year ago, the line would be an hour wait– even with the fast turnover rate of nangmyun places. It’s not worth the 15 min drive for me anymore… Our family used to frequent this place after golf and placed it on a pedestal– we recommended it to everyone and anyone who asked where the nangmyun was good. I see now why the place was empty– a sight I’ve never seen or expected at this place. The yooksoo broth still tastes almost the same as before, and it’s better than Choiga’s, but the banchan — which is always just 2 dishes(sweetened potato and mook), wasn’t even worth the one bite I took.

A bit pricey, but has a great selection of noodles. Also, the pitcher of hot beef broth they bring out is mouthwatering! My personal favorite is the hae jang gook – plenty of meat and plenty of chinese cabbage, just the way I like it. The broth is a different level of heavenly. I usually order a side of potato pancake – so delicious!

I’ve been to this strip mall to dine at the green noodles with black bean sauce and never knew this place existed. Boo Boo loves korean cold noodle but still like her noodles at another place in pal park. But, she did enjoy the noodles from here too. We ordered the cold noodles with broth, 1 without, and a soft tofu soup as well. I embarrassed Boo Boo because the waitress asked if anyone else was going to dine with us and no it was just us. I was just really hungry that day so no need to judge me. Overall, the service was quick so the turnover on able is fast on busy Friday nights. Visa, MC accepted.

Came here for lunch and left very full and pleasantly surprised. The mul naengmyeon broth rivals some of the best I’ve had both in the States and in Korea! This is a quality naengmyeon shop tucked quietly away in a shopping plaza on Piermont. When at the door, I wasn’t sure if it was open or not, but once inside, I could see that it was bustling with the lunchtime crowd. Everyone gets a thermos pitcher full of hot beef broth. It was nice to sip on while waiting for the food to come out. There were two banchan dishes offered — warm potatoes in a sweet-ish sauce and radish kimchi. Both were delicious and whet my appetite for the food to follow. My meat dumplings and mul naengmyeon came out simultaneously and I dug straight in. The broth was very subtle and complex, and it may be the closest I’ve had in the states to my favorite joint in Korea(Woo Lea Oak). However, the noodles, while good, are not my favorite type of naengmyeon noodles. I like my noodles more al dente and thicker than the thin and super chewy ones offered here. But it was still good. The dumplings were very solid, and they were seasoned very well. I only wish that there was a lunch special with a naengmyeon + dumplings combination of some sort. I’ll definitely have to come back soon.

eh. really there are better places in Pal Park or Fort Lee. If you really don’t want to drive 20 minutes and need your nengmyun fix, please place will do but don’t expect excellence. It’s just ok.

Nangmyun(Korean«cold noodles») is a food that needs to be eaten in a place that specializes it. Well, what do you know, Closter has it! The restaurant is small, so there will most likely be a wait. Fortunately, they give you a number card and have several chairs set up outside for you to use. Also, there’s a delicious bakery, Gateaux, next-door if you want to sit at a table, drink coffee, or grab a pastry. Side dishes are basic, small salad is served, and nangmyun broth(love this stuff!) is the main drink given. You have a choice of hot or cold noodles, but most people go for the cold, especially on a hot, summer day. Side orders of Korean pancakes and dumplings are good to share, but I’m always full after a bowl of nangmyun(that comes in three sizes). Inside most nangmyun are two slices of beef brisket, half of a boiled egg, sliced radishes, slice of asian pear, and cucumber. The regular«mool nangmyun» comes very cold, with slushy ice. You should add mustard and vinegar to bring out the taste of the broth. Another favorite is the«hwe nangmyun», which is very spicy nangmyun with raw skate. You will need a lot of that nangmyun broth drink to soothe the tongue. If you like spicy but can’t eat raw fish, try their bibim nangmyun. I’ve been satisfied every time I’ve been here. Only negative is that you do feel a little rushed, as a lot of people are waiting for seats. Parking is easily found in the lot.

Good spot for mool naengmyun(cold noodles). The noodle consistency is good, chewy like they should be, and the cold broth is excellent. I add more vinegar at the table for flavor. We also had yook gae jang(spicy soup with beef, scallions, vermicelli noodles). This was very good, super spicy. It’s a cute, small, homey space with good service.

Although Homung also serves hot noodles, anybody in the know will opt for the cold kind when it comes to Korean food, especially in the humid, waning days of August. Maybe serving noodles cold is just a better showcase for this unusual and verrrry chewy pasta which is made from sweet potato flour. The Koreans have a thing for the sweet potato, excellent drinks like Soju are also derived from it. I order the spicy noodles with a sliced boiled beef in the style of brisket but without a morsel of fat. Boiled beef doesn’t sound good right? Actually nothing could be farther from the truth. Combined with the spicy peppery sauce and the sour kimchee, the beef was über tasty. For more info and pics check out

THEWORSTNAENGMYEON I(WE) HAVEEVERHAD. I don’t know why the hoopla over this place. The noodles are not very good and very expensive. I have been here twice. The broth is VERY bland(confirmed with a friend who also tried this place on the recommendation of someone), and the noodles were for the bibimnaengmyeon a bit stuck together. Noodles stick when they are sitting around for a while. One friend had added so much mustard and vinegar to improve the flavor, the noodle broth became mustard color. It still tasted like water. Also, on the last visit, the waitress gave us misinformation regarding the pricing of the mandoo(dumplings). We wanted the 20 piece for $ 15.95. She said that only the meat and shrimp dumplings were available, and each 10-piece order were normally for $ 8.95 each. But, if we did order the 20-piece, only meat and shrimp will come out(the 20-piece usually comes in four assorted«flavors» not just two). Lo and behold, our check had two orders of $ 8.95 rather than $ 15.95. Stupid lady. If you want good naengmyun(naengmyeon), head over to Flushing(Geumgangsan) or K-town. BTW, the name of the place should read Hamung or Hamoong(pronounced Hah-Moong). This crappy restaurant can’t even get the translation correct.

Dem noodles. It is by far the best nangmyun places I’ve been to. It’s a fast-paced, tightly-packed restaurant that does the one thing it needs to do: serve some dang good cold noodles. It can get packed pretty quick so prepare to wait and suffer as you look at all the people eating delicious noodles while your stomach grumbles. But its worth it!

If I lived closer, I would come more often. If you live near cloister, nj, than you should go here for some authentic Korean cold noodles. They specialize in this and is worth the trip. Try their Korean pancake also. Not the ordinary, where the pancake is thick and the portion of ingredients are big. I like their hot soup in the canisters.

Talk about finding a GEM! BAM! Talk about good clean tasting nangmyun(cold noodle soup). This place is authentic as it gets. This place is actually better than restaurants in the motherland some would say. Although many would order nangmyun, you should try their dumplings and sooyook(boiled beef with tendons and seasoned scallions) also. If you are tired of the same old boring korean dishes in Pal Park and Fort Lee, then head over to Closter. Disclaimer: this is not your BBQ or Chinese or Japanese style Korean restaurant so be warned! This ain’t your mama’s cooking but your mama could never cook like this! ENJOY!

Coming from the DC area to visit our friend, we come here for dinner. Located in a very unexciting business complex, everything about this place was screaming mediocre, up until the point you are seated and served some piping hot soup broth from a thermos/carafe, and then you realize there’s something different about this place. The banchan is the next thing to come out, and pretty much everything was delicious. I especially appreciated the hard boiled eggs halves. Koreans believe eating a hard boiled egg will coat the inside of the stomach and aids in digestion of the buckwheat noodles. The soo-yook was delicious… and probably my first time ordering this at a restaurant. I especially liked the pa-moo-chim(shredded scallions) and garlic on top. The Nengmyun was good as well. If I had any complaint, it might be that the soup base could have been ice-cold. It’s not unusual for restaurants to serve it with a sort of icy slush on top… which is INCREDIBLY refreshing during the dog days of summer… oh and it would have been nice if they also had the horseradish or wasabi in addition to the typical mustard. It’s a shame I live hundreds of miles away. I do highly recommend this place. I’m surprised there is only one other review. This is truly an incredible find.
