Best pizza place around in my opinion. I’ve been going here for as long as I can remember and it’s been amazing every time. My «go to» dishes are penne vodka, the pizza of course and rudys special salad. Ive also gotten their sandwiches which are also very delicious. They always have specials and prices are reasonable!

Best pizza ever. Been coming here since the 70’s and I love it every time. Feels like home.

Update: foods were pretty decent this time. Spaghetti w/clam was good, chicken wings was good and the salad was fresh. I’m not sure if it was the inconsistency or the foods have gotten better but i could sense that people who worked here were much more sensible and friendly this time. I will definitely give it more try.

Just moved into the area and exploring the surrounding towns. Found this local gem. Great food at a great price. It was pretty packed on a Sunday so you know this place is popular. We got large portions and great service. Definitely will come back again.

Used to go here all the time when I worked around the corner and the food was always outstanding. I just moved back to the area and I have been craving something from Rudy’s. I went back since It is only about 5 minutes from where I live now. I decided to get a chicken parm hero because I always thought they made the best. When I got home I opened it up and there was barely any cheese or sauce in the hero. What happened to the best place in town?

When you are craving pizza, pretty much any place will do. I can’t say that this was outright bad, but it is definitely not anything I will go back to given the other options in the area. The crust was crisp and therefore the best part, but the sauce was tasteless and the cheese felt more like the cheese off a frozen grocery store pie. The only thing flavoring my take-out pie was the pepperoni on top, which as unbelievable as this sounds, also left me unsatisfied. It was, meh. Overall, I think this place is meh, which is why I gave it 2 stars. I don’t like that they don’t deliver. A pizza place that doesn’t deliver? Seems improbable and ridiculous, well it’s definitely the latter. I didn’t actually go inside myself to pick up from there, but was told their customer service is pretty sub-par. So what is keeping this place going? The world may never know. I certainly don’t. There are plenty of other options in the area, stick with those. Or, pick up a frozen pie from the grocery store, which will undoubtedly have more flavor and be cheaper.

I just went into Rudy’s for a quick bite. I hadn’t been there since they moved locations. The new location is noisy beyond belief. More so it’s hectic and it took me 20 minutes to get a slice. When I complained the waitress suggested I get my pizza in the standing area near the oven.(poor customer service response). When I left the owner came over and I mentioned how I had been coming for years and always had great service. His response really surprised me. He didn’t care. He is obviously burnt out!!! I won’t be going back.

I have been here another three times and I will admit I have underestimated this restaurant. While getting through the parking lot without a flat tire the food I have sampled was quite good. Pasta soup, the salads and the pizza are quite good.

Nailed it. There is a reason my old tappan raised fiancée has been coming here since birth. As a Middlesex transplant I was suspicious but the pizza is glorious. Crispy crust substantial history flavorful sauce. A bit heavy on cheese which suits my taste perfectly.

First comes the dough, then the sauce & cheese, then stick it in the oven so I can eat! Hands down the best tasting pizza in the area. Cheesy, not overly saucy, and the dough is soft with some crunch. Their meatball parm is my other go-to. Juicy meatballs, melted parmesan cheese, and bread that’s soft on the inside & toasted on the outside. And if I’m feeling healthy, I’ll get a freshly tossed arugula salad with tomatoes(which I recommend eating in one sitting as it’s not the same as leftovers the next day). That being said, I miss the old Rudy’s location. Although it was smaller, I liked the intimate feeling which gave diners some privacy. The new décor and seating, while temporary, isn’t the most inviting nor comfortable. But while this may deter me from dining-in, I get take-out 2 – 3 times a month. Rudy’s is a no-brainer on pizza night!

Terrific Italian food, lots of authentic dishes you don’t find at your typical pizza shop, like broccoli rabe for example. The beef brasciole in meat sauce is one of the best things I have ever eaten at any restaurant, anywhere.

Just moved to the area and Rudy’s was recommended to me by a friend. Best pizza and chicken parm I’ve ever had! My friend had the Sunday Sauce over pasta which was also great. Plus they have liquor. Service was attentive and the waiter took the time to explain to me the history of the place and how they had to move temporarily until a renovation of the mall is done with a Whole Foods which is also exciting to hear. The décor was casual and family friendly. Overall a great local place.

Went there a couple weeks ago. Dining area is nice. I ate with my wife but the table only had one place setting by the time the appetizers came. The main dishes were small for the price and tasted average. Overall I think the service wasn’t great, the food was mediocre and it was priced higher than it deserves.

I miss the old Rudy’s. I don’t know if it’s the bigger location or what, but the meal I had tonight was downright bad. To start off, I ordered a coke and received a ginger ale. The waiter quickly fixed it but that isn’t even close. Then we ordered mozzarella sticks. My fiancé and I each grabbed one and promptly regretted that decision. Not only was the cheese comparable to that of a middle school cafeteria, the breaking was mealy and tasteless, and two of the sticks had mold growing on them. Somehow, we didn’t puke on our plates and the waiter apologized and said he’d show the manager. He offered to bring us another order and I half expected for a manager to come over and check what happened and make sure we were okay. Apparently my expectations were too high, even though there were two managers walking around the dining room our entire meal. Our second order arrived and this time there was no mold but they were still disgusting. We just said forget it and he took them off the bill. At this point, we were just waiting on our meals against my better judgement; penne with a pesto sauce and angel hair with garlic and olive oil. After a lengthy wait, my pasta was an embarrassment. There were multiple dry clumps of angel hair that were simply inedible. Any Italian restaurant should be able to, at least, prepare pasta correctly. The only saving grace was perfectly roasted garlic. My fiancé said his penne with pesto was good, but we will not be returning. Don’t waste your time. Try Andiamo in Haworth if you want a decent meal.

As a resident of a nearby town, Rudy’s Ristorante has always been a «go to» kind of a place. I had the chance to eat there a few nights ago since the restaurant moved to it’s new location. The«new» Rudy’s is much larger, much less intimate, much noisier, and much more tacky looking. The location used to be home to a retail store. The old, dirty and stained ugly blue carpet was not replaced, which gives the entire space a very dingy, dated vibe. The walls are a hideous dark khaki color, covered in what look like grease and other dirty stains. The layout of the restaurant is simply awful. There is zero privacy or anything to give the feel of an intimate space. The noise level is high, but sounds oddly muffled by the horrendous carpet. Another bothersome detail about the décor, is that the napkins are cloth. I feel with the type of restaurant this is, the napkins just seemed extremely out of place. My friends and I decided to order a variety of dishes to share. We ordered a ceasar salad, a rudy’s special salad, fried calamari, a personal sized pizza, and chicken noodle soup. Where to begin. The salads, as always, were delicious. The fried calamari was poorly cooked. The batter was oily, bland, and was not fried long enough so it was very soggy and chewy. The soup was tasty but could have used more seasoning. The pizza was excellent… but I personally like to dab off some of the grease, but with the ridiculous cloth napkins, I wasn’t able to do so, which made me enjoy my food less. Service at this restaurant is some of the worst I have ever experienced. If anything is consistent at this restaurant, its the bad service. The waiters are especially skilled at their professional blindness, and it is frustrating to say the least. My friends and I were there on a friday night and somehow it seemed that the restaurant was understaffed. Although I find many things to be less than wonderful at Rudy’s, it is still a small town staple that I will continue to support.

Typically Italian dishes, cozy atmosphere, friendly owners, good cleaning and fair prices! The best in New Jersey! Rudy’s does this really well. The staff are friendly to a fault, and the food is delicious. I can see what the locals mean by it being an institution; it seems to be part of the town fabric, and Closter wouldn’t be the same without it. It’s weathered all since 1972, a solid, family-run Italian resaurant. Clean, good value for money, friendly staff, delicious food. Can’t ask for more than that.

It’s been a while since we had a sit down dinner at Rudy’s. This was the first time we ate at their recent new location — same shopping center, but now next to the Bow Tie Cinema. The new restaurant is spacious and comfortable. The food is better than ever. I had the Sunday Special Sauce — a huge dish of rigatoni served with a big sausage, big meatball and big braciole, covered with a delicious tomato sauce and a dollop of ricotta. It was a lot of pasta and meat — and I ate it all. My wife had a sausage and peppers hero. I’ve never seen a sandwich stuffed with so much stuff. She had to take half home. We started our meal with soup. I had lentil and my wife had pasta fagioli. Both portions were huge. Service was great and the prices are very reasonable. We will be back.

Had two slices of pizza here cause I was hungry and I saw it on boozy burbs. Got to say really reasonably-priced for a slice of pizza. The pizza itself was really good really good balance of cheese and sauce. Gives you a good mouthful without being to much of either. Crust was really crunchy not soggy even with the good amount of grease that was on it. Which in my opinion is the best part. The only complaint I had were that the slices were a little small I mean me personally I would rather pay a little more and get a bigger slice but, realistically two slices really does the trick as far as a craving goes. They also had a large menu and a lot of different things to order besides pizza. All and all great price really good pizza.

A solidly tasty pizza joint. I can’t comment on the service as I only get take out when visiting. Pepperoni gives you a nice oily cheesy gooey flavor for pizza. The special salad has mozzarella and peppers and a good oil and vinegar dressing. I always request it when visiting family so something keeps me going back!

I love Rudy’s! Every time I visit Jersey there is an obligatory visit to Rudy’s. I am not complaining at all — I look forward to it. This time around we ordered a pie for $ 15 — half pepporoni and half plain — to go. DEFREAKINGLICIOUS. From what I have heard, and I believe this to be in general true wherever you go for pizza, the pie here tastes so much better than when ordered by the slice. I did see someone that went home with slices — holy moly they are GIGANTOR! Rudy’s is family owned. I believe it’s been at least 2 generations owned by father then son. The people were real nice, down to earth. Being from California, I totally got a kick out of the Jersey accent! I just love the Jersey accent!
