Great beer, great people and great ambiance. I went and checked out House of Pendragon as well. The person serving me their admitted that they have gone onto Unilocal and left 559 Beer
negative feedback to try and tarnish their reputation. 559 Beer gets 5 stars. Don’t listen to the haters.

I LOVE this place! Great craft brews and solid food too. The staff is friendly and nice and they keep the place looking sharp and inviting. They really give you the 411 on the beers and the place and their history. I had a great time and will for sure return. did I mention the BEER rocks! Yup!

Swung by this newer place while visiting the farmers market last week. Great to know a local beer exists in Clovis! Everyone was fun and engaging and the family effort that goes into this product is evident — just ask for the history on the raisin beer. These craft beers have a lighter, crisper style which aren’t necessarily typically of your craft beers, but should you visit (and you should, nay must) you will find at least a couple of new beers that excite your palette.

It saddens me to say that this beer is not good… i pretty much am open to all styles of beer but the issue is there is no style of beer here… the bets lack any discernible flavour or character… kind of flat too… it sucks because they are local and they are trying real hard, or so it seems… this was my second time giving the place a try. Tried the raisin ale, peach ale, clovis independence ale…
The location is great. the owner and his father were working behind the bar and were very hospitable. the décor was nice. they had live music… they also sell bar food although i did not purchase any.
But me no likey the beer! Will stick with House of Pendragon.

Such a friendly atmosphere. The beer was phenomenal and I love the history behind every glass! We took some bottles home even to keep enjoying the goodness.

Great atmosphere! Great live music!!! The staff was very friendly and the place was very clean. I was impressed that the staff walked around with Clorox wipes. I did not find the beer terrible. It was not the best However it was not the worst. My husband and I had a great time. Thank you.

Had a wonderful first time experience with my fiancé and in-​laws here a few weekends ago! He was just opening the place for that day when we walked in and we were greeted with a friendly hello! The place is so cute, clean and fun looking! We sat at the bar speaking with one of the owners Rhett and he gave us the back story on 559 Brews and it was really cool to hear about! They have beer flight options that are really cool but we just did individual tastings instead. The strawberry ale was probably my favorite, we even bought a growler of it to take home!
Experience was definitely one we all will remember from my in-​laws trip and my fiancé and I will be back on our own as they have a small snack/​munchie menu we want to try next time!

What a wonderful experience. Great atmosphere everyone who works there were extremely polite. They went out of their way to make sure that our experience was a wonderful one. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend that anyone reading this visits 559. A unique atmosphere I have not experienced anywhere else.

Terrible beer. Oh. My. God. Beer bottles explode. Tastes terrible. Terrible brewmaster. Get a new one since this guy won’t fix his garbage.
I went and bought a couple bottles and each one was incredibly infected. There is even a well known beer taster online who received bottles that exploded right in his face cutting him.
It’s quite sad, the taproom is quite nice and so is most of the staff. However, this beer carrying our area code is only hindering our areas reputation in the beer industry.
Want to hit a brewery in Clovis? Hit House of Pendragon. Awesome people, awesome (and humble) brewmaster, and probably the best brews coming out of the Central Valley.

Great brews and I love the environment of it! I was walking a friend back to her car one night and we heard music so we stopped by the checknit check it out. Weren’t really planning on having beers, but the owners invited us in and i dont regreat it at all. Had the samplen and pint as well. Most definitely will be back, and for a growler too! If you haven’t stopped in yet, you’re missing out!

Fantastic service and a warm and friendly atmosphere. I highly recommend the Strawberry Ale — so delicious, my boyfriend and I both vied for the last of it when we enjoyed the beer flight sampler of the offerings. We ended up buying a couple bottles to take home! And we love supporting great, local businesses like this.

I gave this a 1 for the 1 beer that was palatable. The staff was nice but just didn’t get that we wanted a flight of beer. The WPA (Wawana Peach Ale) tasted like old apricots that molded. The WSA (Wawona Strawberry Ale) tastes like a strawberry soda. The only beer we liked was a new IPA. The CIA was okay. Off favors. Off bitterness. Just didn’t come together. The atmosphere was okay but the high chairs felt like a child’s chair that was too tall. Not my forté and we won’t be back.
We have been to hundreds of brew pubs, this is on my list of «the worst». I was hoping for a new tasting room in the area, but my husband and I could not finish a flight of beer. This is extremely unusual for us, or the beer was just that bad.

Amazing! As in I cannot believe how amazingly horrible the beer is!!! Seriously the beer taste like rubbing alcohol with bad tea added! Great location and atmosphere though.

This is another fantastic family owned small business in Old town. I came to know of them during the March of Dimes signature chef’s event a few weeks ago and I thought I would look up their store. I did give them a piece of advice that they seem to take very well. I mentioned that I have driven by their location a dozen times and had no idea what «559 local» was and I suggested the implication of a brewery in its name. They took that well and it appeared on their menu and walkway signage as «559 beer».
I was greeted right away they do remember me from the event. It was wonderful to see a family picture on the wall as well as to hear about their great selections. I highly recommend just doing their sample tasting of 8 beers as seen in my picture. Not all are to my liking but I appreciate that they are trying to stand out from the other breweries locally. I also really like that they post the ABV (alcohol by volume) as well as the IBU (international bitterring units) so you can decide based on you palate, hop level etc. My favs were the Fig garden stout — dark smooth with black mission figs from Fresno and Chevy BelAir ale with cascade hops. They have a small outdoor area as well as a very nice window area to sit around in a larger group
Lastly I was excited to hear that they just teamed up with another great business in Old town, Kuppa Joy to release a dark beer based on their coffee beans.

So, I tried to be reasonable and the owner had my review removed. It’s posted below. I’ve been to this brewery at a grand opening type event. There was a band and there were 2 beers available. They were both so terrible, I assumed I got a bad batch or the lines were dirty. I just figured it was impossible to make and serve such bad tasting beer. They seemed infected. I was so convinced I bought a bottle! Alas, it was also terrible. The bottom line is, this is an inferior beer. All of them. But don’t take my word for it. Try if for yourself. But, don’t say I didn’t warn you!

You’ll notice all of the good reviews are in a one week span. Most were on the same day. What a coincidence! The owner even gave it 5 stars. This beer is terrible. I’ve tried several of them. Save yourself the trouble and visit any of the other local breweries. They’re all good except this one.

Amazing atmosphere, great family that owns and operates, missing out if you don’t try!

The Brats are amazing and for $ 5 you can’t beat that! And the beer complements the brats! The people that own/​work here are the nicest people you will ever meet. This place is so fun and the live bands are wonderful. Everyone should come here!

Great experience. I’m not a huge beer fan, but definitely love the strawberry beer. Would come back to taste and hangout. Friday night they had a couple playing music. The ambience is very chill and relaxing. Everyone is friendly and smiles are exchanged.

Who would have guessed that there is this awesome gem tucked away in downtown Clovis!?! This is a nice place to hang out with friends. The owner is awesome! Great service! The beer had a unique flavor. Great selections. Live band. Worth checking out!

I hate giving bad reviews. Especially when it concerns something that is so subjective, such as beer. But my wife and I and some friends dropped in here for some craft brew and not a single one of us liked any of the beers. I think the brewers are just trying to be too unique, and they are creating some concoctions that were just simply horrible smelling and tasting. I’ve been to dozens of breweries all around the country and this was the first time I’ve not been able to finish a beer flight. Even beer styles I don’t love I will finish anyway. But I just literally couldn’t get these ones down. Two of them just smelled so bad I couldn’t get past the first sip.
On the upside, the people who work there were so kind and friendly, and the vibe of the place was really cool. So that makes me feel really terrible to giving a one star review. But until they make some drinkable beers, I’m staying clear of this place.
