Blast Fitness Clovis

The gym isn’t as clean as other gyms around town. Even with the «new renovations» it’s not that clean at all. Don’t ever drink from the water fountains because they clean them once every two years.
The management here is atrocious. I was overcharged on my account and called the manager who said he would look into it and call back Monday. Never got a call back so I left a message for him. It’s been two weeks now and still no call.
You are much better off going somewhere else as this whole company is hemorrhaging money quick. Less and less locations by the day so premium pass members are getting screwed over by having less locations to go to.

Men’s locker room has an overpowering smell of urine. A lot of the old cardio equipment doesn’t work. Feels like a prison rec yard.

I’ve been coming to this gym on and off since it was known as «Ballys»
It’s a great gym and has a good atmosphere for working out.
The gym is convenient for those who enjoy cardio and weight lifting. I believe they also have tanning booths for premium members. The only downside is you have alot of co-​workers staring and talking to their love interests occasionally and just staring around while your working out which gets kind awkward. The staff is friendly and this is definitely the cleanest blast fitness I’ve been too. It’s also open later than the other blast facilities around.

I really haven’t tried going to other gyms except GB on Fowler/​Herndon. Overall the Blast facility definitely does not beat GB. However I like the rest of this gym just a little bit better than GB. What counts for me are the hours, the crowd and the ratio of ppl per equipment. Available hours are better. The ppl that go truly go to work out and the amount of equipment is just slightly better during busy hours (I however mostly go during the late night hours). It also is a little bit less expensive per month.

Don’t go to these $ 10 clubs. Long story short the hassle to get out of these contracts are ridiculous. I canceled my members months back and they still charge me when I call they say they haven’t received any paperwork even though I’ve faxed it to them.

Friendly, cheap, and a lot to do. I miss working out here, as I am now closer to another place where I live at.

Stay the FUCK away. FAR, FAR the fuck away. Below is a copied and pasted letter I just got done writing to ABC Financial– Blast’s racketeering division, or as they like to call, collection agency. I had fun writing the very last paragraph :)
In short, they’re like that relationship from hell. They lie about their terms, lie when you try and quit, and then make it the biggest pain in the fucking ass when you try and get a restraining order to cut all ties. The most dishonest and shadily run gym operation I’ve ever been a part of. I’ve been a member of GB3, Gold’s, and Fort Washington Fitness before and never had these problems. Damn, was I fucking trusting and naïve with these shady fuckwipes. Anyway, here it is:
I am cancelling membership because I was intentionally misinformed and baited into believing I was signing a 1 year contract ONLY with no obligation to continue or renew at the end of the term by an employee at Blast Fitness. It was only until I cancelled my previous debit card and received phone calls from your company regarding payment did I realize I was still being unknowingly billed monthly an additional 2 years after what I believed to be my 1 one year contract was up.
It’s bad enough that I paid for 2 years of gym membership I never used or even knew I was paying for, but when I went in and officially closed and cancelled membership on 4-​29-​2015, I was told that I was done with this whole ordeal and that he (the manager at this particular Blast fitness center) would notify ABC financial himself from his end to terminate the contract, and that I could send you an e-​mail to get an immediate reply if I so choosed.
I thought I was finally done with this hellish nightmare of a scam that day, but the calls from your company persisted and I was told by one of your phone operators that no such notification was made on the Blast manager’s end and that I would have to send this formal request of cancellation into customer care myself, even though I was already promised it would be taken care of. I intend on writing a negative review on Unilocal,and will send a complaint to the Better Business Bureau if I am going to be continually shaken down and leeched for money by ABC financial. I have already paid your company hundreds for NO SERVICES rendered, it ends today.
I suggest you change your business model and be honest and up-​front about your contracts with your customers and make it much easier for your members to leave when the time comes. The hoops I am being required to jump through are absolutely ridiculous; this is easily the most shadily run business I’ve ever had the displeasure of taking part in. I feel like I need to take a shower to wash the filth off as I write this, I could imagine how you must feel doing this to thousands of people day in and day out. If you continue to remain with your current business model of lies and deception to steal profits, I suggest you hire Tony Soprano as a consultant– though he may decline due to your company not meeting his high moral standards. You have your «cancellation notice,» I’ve said my $ 0.02– I hope some very holy people are praying for your souls. Goodbye.

So, since my last review a few things have changed. The gym acquired a ton of new equipment. New cardio equipment (a ton… really) and a lot of machines (cables etc…) and benches. So the equipment upgrades have been beneficial for a large amount of the members here. However, they now only have one squat rack and two smith machines :/​. Fortunately I am able to get into a good rotation/​work in with other people at the gym so the squat rack situation isn’t too bad for me but really I wish they would bring back the other. I feel like a spoiled child that complained that there were two and now my parents have made me realize I actually had it pretty OK.
I recently checked out another gym in the area, a new one, and let me say it renewed my appreciation for the crowd and the staff at this gym. Now you might be thinking that those two things shouldn’t matter, and I used to agree with that… but after my exploration they do matter.
This is a gym. I like gyms, not social health clubs.

Since my last review, this place has changed ownership (from Bally’s to Blast), renovated, downsized and expanded hours (most days are now 24 hours).
The good–
New equipment has been installed. Nearly everything has been replaced but mixed with the old, such as new dumbbells, cardio machines, and weight benches.
Cheap membership ($ ¹⁰⁄₁₁ a month)
24 hours during the weekday
The bad–
Downsized. Even though I always come in the mornings, the weight area feels a bit stuffed at times since they took out a whole section to make a whole new studio area for classes.
Workers are still lazy (more specifically the early morning staff), and hardly do any cleaning every time I come in.

Well I have a membership here. Can’t complain or go wrong for $ 10 a month. This gym is very convenient for me since it is by my house and work. The equipment there does need some revamping but I like it’s conveniences overall.

I signed up for this gym a few years ago because I liked their outdoor pool at the Shaw Ave location and I was training for the Alcatraz swim. Also, they had a location on Herndon that was close to my house. They shut down the Herndon gym without even sending a letter and they also shut down the pool without notification. The level of sanitisation at both locations was pretty bad at times, particularly the locker rooms, showers and pool was pretty gross. I decided to cancel my membership today, only to find out I have to go through a company called abc financial, which stated I have to pay for an additional month. Without threatening to not pay the amount, they threatened me that they would send non-​payment to collections. That’s a slap in the face after they shut down my gym and the pool. Don’t do it.

My sister and I are enjoying our Personal Training sessions with Darren. He is very encouraging and he challenges us to our potential.
We have been very pleased with the gym as well and the staff. Everyone is helpful and friendly.

Good place to workout at, jus bring a towel to wipe off all the sweet from other gym go’ers on the machines

Does Blast plan on responding to these accusations? They are true. I am a member and it is filthy. Broken machines. I will not be a member long.

I’ve been a member of many gyms (GB3, Centerpoint, Gold’s Gym) and had even checked this one out before when it was still Bally’s but I wasn’t prepared for the terrible cancellation process.
Four months ago we had signed up for the $ 20 package and was told we could cancel at anytime by the rep. After reading the contract I let him know that his statement went against what the contract stated. He said not to worry about it and that he’d make sure we were taken care of (should have been my first warning). Things were going fine until we started noticing how dirty the gym was, much like how it had been while Bally’s was there.
Within 10 days we decided this wasn’t the gym for us and let our rep know that we wanted to cancel. He told us no problem and that he’d submit the request to corporate so we wouldn’t be charged the $ 50 annual fee. 5 days later our debit card was charged for the annual fee. When we called in to corporate we were told a request for cancellation had never been submitted and that they would need a letter and 30 days to cancel the account. Upset my girlfriend went and confronted the guy, who then fessed up when she asked to see proof he had submitted the cancellation.
Jump forwards to today, Blast has charged us over $ 130 in fees despite us sending a cancellation letter and the only way to stop the charges was to have our card cancelled by our bank. We are currently taking Blast to small claims to recover our money and advise all our friends to stay away from Blast Fitness.
