I’ve been to this place before a few years ago and thought I would try it again. I was embarrassed to bring my coworker after this visit. First off, I ordered a filet and received a sirloin. Second, I asked for medium and it came way over cooked. The wild rice paired well with the burnt sirloin in that it was cold and had enough salt to de-ice a freeway on it. The grilled shrimp was raw in the middle. How can you charge more than $ 14 for these meals? The A1 sauce they bring with the steak is a tell all of what type of food they serve. At least the salad wasn’t over cooked.

I have family that when they come to visit they want to eat here. Best steaks in town, we love the salad and bread.

I’ve got to say, I’ve never stayed for dinner – I usually order everything to go and eat it at my hotel. That being said, I’ve had really good, friendly, and prompt service each time I’ve been. The food: steaks, seafood, soup/salads, sandwiches, and chicken. I’ve had their veggies, soup, salad, bread, shrimp, and steak. They’ve always cooked my steaks perfectly!(I order rare or medium rare depending on my mood). The season is good. The soups are a new addition – the Tuscan kale meatball had wonderful flavor but the beans in it were hard. The mashed taters aren’t anything to write home about – neither is their bread. I have to say that if you get a combo – get it with the grilled shrimp. They’re delicious, plump, and juicy. The cocktail sauce they’re served with is divine as well. Definitely a spot worth visiting! I’m waiting on a burger as we speak, so I’ll update later!

We have eaten at Dakota’s many times. They are always friendly, fast and we have never had to send a steak back yet. Always cooked right to order the first time! And we are always too full to order their fine deserts… lol…no one leaves hungry from our group.

I have been here several times over the past year for large parties and dinners for two. I have been here both for lunch and dinner. Service is far below par. Forgetting items, bringing out wrong food, and simply not caring about the customer. Food is hit and miss(with the emphasis on miss). Dried out, over cooked, burnted and flavorless is what I would describe the food as. Steaks that are $ 30 a piece should not taste like the bottom of my shoe. They have a dish called a «firebird» which is a stuffed chicken tender wrapped in bacon. Sometimes really good, but the majority of the time, pre-made and pre-baked, microwaved to order coming out dry, tasteless and inedible. The second to last visit I was there, an elderly patron slipped off the stair ledge at the back of the dining room and fell into an elderly patron sitting at the table with her back to him. I assisted the individual up off of the ground and tried to alert management of the issue. I went into the kitchen and told the hostess what happened and I told the other worker that he needed to go chase the man down in the parking lot and get his information. Nothing was done. I am very disappointed with this restaurant and the management.

Second time here and the only restaurant in Clovis I will ever go to! Amazing staff and food, manager josh is second to none, dressed very respectful and carried himself, his staff, and the restaurant with the utmost respect and had a smile while doing it. The owner should be very proud of his staff and steakhouse! Thanks again to all of the staff and josh for taking time out of his busy day to speak with me. Keep up the amazing work, Frank T

Amazing steak! Very pricey though. Looking for a romantic-ish date? This might be the place in Clovis. Seating took forever, definitly recommend reservation. Everyone was sorta dressed up as well.

Good food and good service. Proportions are large. Chicken was a little over cooked. Mash potatoes were very good.

Had an awesome time at this place. The food was hot and delicious and the beer was ice cold and plenty! Chilled glass. Perfect seasoning on the fish … Yessss! We will be back for sure :)

I had a great experience. When I was seated my server was right along to take care of my drink order… very important! I ordered the ribeye with the sweet potato loaded. The flavor of the steak was great! The cut was a little thinner than I would buy myself but it was cooked perfect. I would certainly come back

I have to say this is the best little steakhouse I have tried in Clovis. The food has been very good each time we have eaten here. I really enjoyed the white cheddar and pablano soup with the fire bird platter. The service is very leisurely, but it is perfect if you are not in a rush and honestly if you are going to spend the money for a nice night out at Dakota’s don’t be in a hurry. The food is awesome, so enjoy.

We had the bone-in Ribeye, the Porterhouse, and the Sirloin with Crab Legs all cooked medium rare. The Ribeye was cooked perfect but the cut was a little fattier than I like. The is was offset really well by the seasoning and the cook. It cut like butter. The Porterhouse, much like the Ribeye, was cooked perfect and had a great flavor. The quality of the cut was amazing. The meat was marbled with no large pieces of fat. Of the 3 cuts we had, this was easily the best. The Sirloin and Crab Legs were also right on par with the other meals. The sirloin was cooked and seasoned well and the crab legs were cooked well. Generally with crab when it’s hard to slide the meat out it has either been overcooked or allowed to cool. We did not have this problem. The inside of Dakota’s is really nice. It could be a romantic date spot or just a nice place to dine. The prices were reasonable for the cuts of meat they offered, our waitress was attentive, and the food was out quickly. The only bad thing I have to say about Dakota’s is that they had a sub-par beer selection and their wine list was forgettable.

We happened in on a Tuesday night and found out the wines were half price — so we ordered a bottle of chard and it was great. The server was attentive and the food was quite good, the trout was cooked just right. I didn’t realize the asparagus was an upcharge, but it was tender and covered in this great butter sauce. We will be back — especially on Tues for the wine deal.

I have visited here multiple times for lunch. I haven’t been for dinner and have chosen to order from the lunch specials menu — I haven’t had a steak here as I have never found myself hungry enough to want one for lunch. My favorite entrée is their«Firecracker Chicken» which is a whole chicken tender with jalapenos wrapped in a piece of bacon and then baked. The lunch sized entrée gives you three of these in a bun — which I usually ask them to hold — and one of a number of different sides. Like any jalapeño dish sometimes you get a spicy one and sometimes thy are a bit milder, and that is the case here, but the rest of the ingredients are of a high quality, they are not at all greasy and so I don’t mind sometimes getting a milder«Firecracker». The side I always used to get was the asparagus, but the last time I ate here that wasn’t an option(at lunch anyhow) and so I went with the broccoli which was okay. I have had a couple of salads which were okay; one was a goat cheese and strawberry which was interesting(the fried goat cheese had kind of dissolved in the fryer and were not good); the side salad I have had a couple of times was decent enough. The service has always been pretty good. The lunch prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of food, in my opinion.

1.) Family dinner, 12 people, reservations a week ahead of time. Saturday, 6:30pm. Atmosphere was nice. 2.)Two waitresses and had to ask for water and tea. 3.) Sent back all asparagus and mushrooms. 4.)No manager ever came to find out how we were, even after sending the sides back… hmmm two managers on duty, one in the FOH and one in the kitchen. 5.)Charged automatically 20% gratuity because of the group and that is not their policy, yet nothing refunded and they didn’t deserve 20%!!! 6.)Appetizers(only 2 blossoming onions) were overcooked on the outside and still raw on the inside and took 30 mins to get to us… 7.)Steaks were not prime grade and for the money they cost, you would think everyone would love them, everyone in our party that had steak complained. And the prices… you would think we were in Denver! 8.)Green chili soup tasted like fish… hmmmm. 9.)Complained to manager on phone when we got home and nothing monetarily done to satisfy any of our complaints, would have been a nice gesture! Not asking for the whole bill to be refunded, but come on, every single person in our party complained about something. After spending close to $ 300 dollars you would think we could be satisfied with something, yet we still feel we wasted our money. 10.)Won’t be back and will tell everyone the bad experience we had! Don’t get sucked into the overpriced, low quality steaks and service! Sorry Dakota’s, you only get one star because of the atmosphere!

There aren’t many decent places to eat in Clovis. But Dakota’s is definitely one of the decent ones. It’s nothing special or unique. But when you have very few decent places to eat, the fact that the place is clean, the wait staff are well mannered, and the food is cooked right, makes this place unique in Clovis. I recommend getting the grilled asparagus or the sweet potato fries as appetizers. They’re fantastic. As far as an entrée, you can’t go wrong with any of the burgers or steaks. If you’re on a budget I recommend eating here during lunch. Their lunch menu is significantly cheaper than the dinner menu. You’ll end up spending anywhere between $ 10 to $ 20 during lunch and $ 20 to $ 50 during dinner. I don’t really understand why it’s way pricey because it’s just a typical steakhouse. But it’s not like you’ll have anywhere else to go around here. The inside is well kept and clean. The restaurant has a private parking lot that’s spacious. So there’s never a problem with parking.
