Really good food and service. Try the stuffed avocado, it is to die for. Very affordable too. We will definitely be back.

I asked the locals for the best Mexican(Tex-Mex) food in town… and this is where I was sent. I was VERY pleased with the prompt and courteous service. The prices are very reasonable, and the food was excellent! I will definitely return if I am in the area again, or if I see a Leal’s in another location! They even had a few craft beers(from CRAFT beer brewers, not Miller and A-B).

I have always loved Leals, but my latest visit was sorely disappointing. I ordered a glass of their house merlot and what had normally been a reasonably sized glass is now a thimble. If they had filled the minute glass I probably would not have been so disappointed, but it was far from full The Margaritas are made with wine and very little of that. Food is good and there is usually a lot, but I would not waste my time ordering libations with my meal

Great service, nice atmosphere and had an amazing meal. Highly recommend the fried Avocado meal. Was hands down the best avocado I have ever had. I would go back in a heartbeat.

My kid had four… count ‘em, FOUR crayons to color with. This is huge! Why are places only giving out two crayons?! Pre-meal coloring is imperative to a quality dining experience. A duotone coloring sheet leads to a dull entrée nearly all the time. Food was alright too!

Our server was excellent in advising me on what they could do both gluten and dairy free. Chicken enchiladas with green sauce and subbed guacamole for the cheese. Green sauce was very good. Worked for me!

Historically, I’ve had bad luck with stopping for food while traveling through New Mexico. Finally I scored a decent meal! Service was excellent. Food fresh and tasty. Not the best in the world but the best I’ve done in about a half dozen attempts at random small town joints in New Mexico. If you’re driving by — give it a shot.

Had the stuffed avocado. O.M.G. So good. Husband had the combo plate. I got a bite if his tamale and it was awesome. I will order those next time we are in Clovis because we will definitely be back. Everything was excellent!

Good variety on the menu and the food comes out really quickly. Chips and salsa are made in the kitchen(I believe). The salsa varies in spiciness from day to day. We eat here probably more often then any other place in Clovis. The guacamole and the shredded beef tacos are my favorite. The beans and rice are faily bland, but they’re fresh. The staff is very attentive. It’s not uncommon for another server to ask if we need a refills of chips, salsa, or drinks even if they’re not our server. The 4 out of 5 is from the sound level in this resturaunt. It’s hard to hold a normal conversation during lunch or on Friday or Saturday nights. It’s SOLOUD. I think the floors are made of concrete. I have to nearly yell to speak to my husband if he’s sitting across from me.

Had the deep fried avocado and it was very good. The salsa was just right for our taste. Would recommend this restaurant

One of Clovis’ hotspots for dining, Leal’s exemplifies the problem with this town. It’s a safe choice, as in you won’t get food poisoning, but it’s nothing remarkable or deserving of a raving recommendation. From the salsa to the enchiladas, the food is quite bland. The chicken in my dish was dry and without flavor. I had to soak up every drop of sauce on my plate to salvage it. Fortunately, I came here with a coupon for a free entre, so I can’t say I was terribly disappointed. Free food is just that. The service was also off-mark. Our waiter asked if we were ready to order almost immediately after sitting down, giving us a weird look when we said we needed a moment or two. Props for being eager to take our orders initially, but then he didn’t return for ten minutes, and the place wasn’t even crowded. Not a super huge ordeal, but it helps illustrate why Leal’s, in my opinion, is «Meh, I’ve experienced better».

So starting out weak. I went here because I had a voucher for a free entrée. I am glad that I did not spend my own money at this establishment. I got the free chips with the meal and the cheese and chicken enchilada plate with rice. The enchiladas were sub par, and that is giving them way too much credit. The chicken ones were as dry as Clovis itself and not flavorful; same story with the cheese one(which is impressive for cheese). What really amazed me though was the amount of grease both enchiladas had, considering their dry taste. Now, I know that Mexican food can be greasy. And yes, you do want some grease in there to guilt you to the gym later. But my goodness! At least have the decency to add flavor with that grease. I will give Leal’s this though: they do try to have good service. I had no issues with salsa being refilled and water topped off. It was just the initial serving that was interesting and void of common sense. I don’t know what it is about Clovis but either you get no service what so ever or its shoved down your throat. In this case, the server asked if we were ready to order as soon as we sat down. What do you do with that? I mean, I don’t even have time to crack open the menu. So no, I do not know what I want, besides the IQ of Clovis to go up a few points. So will I go back? Having a Pinterest account with endless food ideas, I doubt it. But if I were a single dude tired of taco bell, then yeah I’d return. Thankfully I am not that. The only two reasons I might reconsider are the reasonable prices and margaritas. You can’t always go to Walgreen’s for your tequilla.

The cheap margaritas are the best here but the salsa has no flavor. Non… and I like flavorless salsa but even this was new low. The food was interesting. I know there is a thing called, «tex-mex». I’m not comparing it to mexican food but it’s just not good in general and congeals within minutes.

I’m giving this a four because it’s been sooo long since we’ve had good Mexican and good green chile! We arrived for dinner and the place was jumping off busy but we got seated right away. + Our waitress was very sweet, smiling, and attentive without being in your face and overbearing. We did not have to ask for drink refills, appetizer refills she was on it. After reading Unilocal reviews for the hatch Queso dip we(or I should I) decided to order. It was really good thick and chunky, creamy not gritty, I would have preferred more hatch chiles but ah well. Being on the road The man and I split a combo plate.(cheap right) actuallyt I have food overload from sitting all day. The man insists we order a combo that has taco, tostada, Relleno, tamale, rice and beans! Two plates of food come out! The rice which I never eat albeit good! It was moist not dry or overly saucy. The tamale unlike so many places also was moist not dry and that’s actually not common. I ate ½ The Man’s tamale after taste testing! :) I didn’t try the tostadas or taco. The relleno was very good used a fresh not canned pepper and you could get green sauce another + my only issue with this is get used cheddar and a personal preference is I like Queso it was still good the batter was thick not too eggie, floury or mealy. Driving through Clovis this is a very good choice. I prefer mom& pop places but we are quite content with this.

In a town with so few dining options, Leal’s is always a safe bet. If you are with a large group of people, this is definitely the place to go. The food is always good, and I have never had a problem with the service.

Leal’s is consistently great. Both locations in Clovis are fantastic and they cater. Last weekend they catered a wedding at my place for 120 people — awesome food and service!

We are here in Clovis on business and want to recommend this place to everyone! As we walked in the doors we noticed smiles all around the room from both customers and staff. The service was excellent; probably the best waitress I’ve had in several years without exaggeration. The food was scrumptious. The plates were big– we all came away stuffed. The flavors were real, not some pre-packaged American/Mexican meal. Decent prices as well.

Very, very, VERY Tex Mex. Great queso, chips and stuffed avocados. It’s not your authentic Mexican restaurant, so you won’t find aguas refrescas or any horchata here. Very friendly staff, and food always comes out prompt.

This place is very tex-mex. I love their stuffed avocado I think it’s amazing! My husband always gets their shrimp fajitas those two meals are the best on the menu in my opinion. Service is always great and fast!
