I took my baby to the baby and me class and I am sure this is a great class for some people but not for us. I felt like the advertisement of this class was misleading. This is not a fun, splash around with your baby class. This is a dunk your kid under water even if they are crying kind of class. Their goals are safety and I get that but at this point my only goal was that my baby enjoy the water. So I guess it would be fine if you want your baby to learn to kick or whatever even though they are sobbing and clinging to your swim suit but I’m not for it. And for this reason I stopped going. The staff is nice and knows what they’re doing but I feel they need to do a better job of telling what this class is really about.

This is an incredible swim school. My daughter, 22 months at the time, learned to swim. She is now able to jump in the water, swim to me, or swim back to the wall and pull herself out. She’s not yet 2. The first three of 10 lessons were challenging as she cried. However, she loves swimming and loved it before having lessons. She loves swimming even more now, and she ADORED her teacher, Nikki. Jan Thomas Swim School’s philosophy is one which teaches no fear of water. It is imperative the children are forced in the water, even if they cry. Here’s the basic approach: –your child swims with an instructor privately(meaning, 1:1 ratio) –no goggles, life vests, or water wings(these create a false sense of security) –they instructors DO encourage using flippers on the little ones as it corrects a tendency to stand upright in the water The outcome? Your child will swim free of water wings, a life jacket, etc., and s/he will open his/her eyes underwater for guidance. *This school only operates during the warmer months(May-beginning of August).

Excellent swim school. We have a pool at our house so our grandkids need to learn how to swim. Two of my grandsons(ages 2 and 4) are able to jump in the pool, turn and swim back to the side. They learned quickly at Jan Thomas Swim School. The staff instructors are kind and friendly.

I originally rated this only 4, but after the 10 lessons and my son is only 3 and loves to swim now, I had to give them 5. They are very nice and do what they say the will, and kids all learn to swim there.

I am only in my fourth day of ten and I cannot believe where my kids are in their swimming progress. One is 3 and the other is nearly 2 and they both were very hesitant and only 4 lessons in I cannot express their progress. It does seem expensive but their is no better way to spend your money especially if you have a pool. I am beyond impressed and only half way though.

This place is expensive, yes, but both my kids learned to swim in 10 lessons when they were toddlers. Both of them were the sort of toddlers who hate even to get their faces a bit wet while getting their hair rinsed at bath time. At the lessons, both of them cried the first day. The instructors we had were excellent, though – very positive and loving, and by the end of the lessons the kids were enjoying themselves and full of pride. And I repeat: My kids learned to swim in 10 lessons. Both of them love swimming now, too, years later. I’ve met lots of people who’ve wasted time and money on group lessons at other places, and by the end the kids can’t really swim. Some can, of course, but Jan Thomas is a sure thing!

Some people may think Jan Thomas is a bit pricey when compared to other swim lesson options. Let me tell you, it is well worth the extra money. The staff at Jan Thomas is as good as it gets. The way the instructors interact and establish relationships with the kids changes it from swimming lessons to a swimming experience for your children. My two kids loved it. IMO, the one-to-one lessons they receive provide much greater results than the one-to-many lessons some of the cheaper places offer. My kids made a huge improvement in their confidence in the water this summer. Neither of them wanted to get out of the shallow end ever. After one summer session at Jan Thomas they are not only swimming in the deep end, they are diving into it. An overall professional experience from beginning to end. I can’t say enough great things about this swim school.
