Kmart

I’m sure by now that most people have given up on expecting much from Kmart. However there is a special kind of disconnect when it comes to the Coalinga Kmart. It is way more expensive than any of the other Kmarts and any of its other competitors and it can only be because of location and that’s just sad. The staff are actually quite friendly the problem is there are some so few of them. There is usually just one register open and it’s hard to find any staff walking around on the floor and if you do find a staff member and ask them where you can find a particular item you’re probably not going to get an answer or a correct one at that. The place could use a good cleaning and someone to walk around and pick up the clothing items that people just drop on the floor. There is a complete paucity of any type of mechanical items so don’t come here for any type of tool or tool accessory. If you’re looking for cheap clothing and I mean cheaply manufactured not inexpensive, toiletries, aspirin, Motrin, or cold medicine this may be your place other than that just keep driving through town.
So why two stars? Well I’m being nice I guess.

Before I left work, I placed my order over the phone (20 mins ahead of time) and when I got there my order was not yet placed. Apparently my ticket was thrown in the trash by mistake. I wasn’t upset at all because right that second when I asked about my order the manager Juan fixed the problem right away! I was so amazed at his quickness to resolve the issue! We need more great customer service & awesome managers like juan. Thank you Juan for providing excellent customer service at it’s best!

I give it 3 stars considering it is the only big store in town. Their shelve stock is low but I believe they do their best to restock (being 30 miles from the next nearest Kmart in Lemoore.)

This is the only department store in Coalinga. And for that, ⁴⁄₅ stars. If there were a Walmart or Target nearby, grade would have been ²⁄₅ stars.
Prices are higher than other places, even Savemart Supermarket next door. But this is where you can buy household stuff, clothes, shoes, makeup, tv’s, dvd’s, etc without driving an hour to Hanford.
sigh.
