If I could choose zero stars I would. Was contacted by Pinch A Penny corporate(see thread) stating that they would reach out to me. Great customer service I thought. I was shocked when I received an email stating that the issue had been satisfactory resolved. Funny thing is I was never contacted by anyone at corporate and nothing ever changed. Store admitally sold used returned merchandise as new. I’ll say that again«THISSTOREISSELLINGUSEDRETURNEDMERCHANDISEASNEWORDISPLAYITEMS!» When I notified Pinch A Penny corporate office of the fact that this was not a resolved issue(at least not in my eyes) I received an email from the original store owner(Mr. Tosh Patel) who admitted that his store was selling used items as new, he stated that he offered me a $ 25 credit for the inconvenience. After 17 years of visiting a Pinch A Penny store on a bi-weekly basis and purchasing ALL of my pool supplies and equipment from them I would be hard pressed to visit one of their stores ever again. Mr. Patel please keep your $ 25 dollars you obviously need it more than I do. After your response, It is no surprise why your store keeps getting negative ratings. If you would like I will post your email to me to show potential customers what type of owner they are working with. Pinch A Penny Corporate shame on you! In my opinion you should at a minimum reach out to a customer if you say you are going to. 17 years of being a loyal customer ruined by a fraudulent franchisee owner and zero attempt by Pinch A Penny Corporate to even try to resolve the issue by contacting a loyal customer. Lucky for all of us that there are many options for pool supplies. In my opinion this store will continue to struggle as long as it is under Mr. Patel’s ownership. I believe the negative reviews will continue.

I recently got a house with a pool in it and it’s my first time owning one. The pool was a complete mess, the last owners had done nothing to the pool so it was really swampy. This location was near my house so I stopped in knowing nothing about pools. The staff was helpful and told me I could add a lot of chlorine and chemicals to balance my pool once again or have their technician come out with a reasonable charge. We decided to have him come out, his name is David and he was super helpful! Since we needed so many jugs of chlorine they were fair enough to work out a decent price with us and only charged us for some of the chlorine jugs and the service charge. He explained to us how the filter and motors work and how to keep the pool balanced and from turning green ever again. Ever since then my pool has stayed crystal clear! I bring my water sample every once in a while and try to keep my pool balanced! They have all the chemicals I need and they have some pretty cool toys my nieces and cousins enjoy!

The staff in this location was phenomenal. Call me old school but nice smiles, attentive service, knowledge about what I needed for my pool, from chemicals to other supplies, … plus additional pointers on pool care to save me $$$ over the long term adds up to an excellent customer experience. I don’t even live in the area, but I make sure to get everything I need from this particular Pinch A Penny location.

My last review on 3-7-2015 was recently removed because it didn’t meet Unilocal standards. It was to vague. So here we go again. Customer service is lacking since new owners/management took over. Im driving an extra 5 miles to the Boca Green. Much better experience. On my last visit: After exchanging 4 empty chlorine jugs for 4 full ones, I noticed that one was leaking. When I pointed this out, the person assisting me said that he would exchange it. A gentleman intervened and said that I would need to purchase a new Jug. He said that the jug was one that I brought in and that they had only refilled it, so it must have been damaged before I brought it in(odd thing is, he was never anywhere near the containers while this whole process was going on). I told him that I didn’t think that was the case, but he was emphatic that I would have to purchase a new container. I couldn’t believe the posturing he was taking, refusing to exchange the container. I requested and was given a refund for my purchases. I left with 4 empty containers. I drove to the Boca Green store, explained that one was leaking. They exchanged them with no questions asked. Now I drive 5 extra miles for chlorine. The Boca Green employees can teach a thing or two about customer service to the Hillsboro store management.

We had pool service before and we discontinued it. I never realize exactly what these people did until my pool start getting green two weeks after cutting the service. My husband is a bit stubborn so he wanted to do things himself, we took our water sample to pinch a penny and they were wonderful. They tested the water and walked us step by step in what we needed to do to get our pool back in shape. They didn’t made us by more than we needed nor they tried to sell mostly more expensive equipment. They encouraged us to keep bringing the water back for testing so they could tell us how we are doing, and if it’s getting better. We did everything they told us to do and the very next day the pool look like it did when we had service. Very, very happy with customer service.

This locally owned franchisee does an excellent job in making you feel welcome and the staff is very helpful and know their stuff. The prices are reasonable along with receiving regular coupons in the mail or via text. They have a raving fan here.
