Clean and quiet with friendly staff who sings 80’s tunes along with the radio. Pea pods and shrimp was quite delicious. They also have vegetarian egg rolls which can be hard to find. Will definitely return.

Restaurant was kinda run down and dirty. The salt and pepper shakers could use a cleaning or be replaced. I got the pineapple chicken… It was very bland. The pineapple was from a can and the green peppers were not fresh either :(

Moved to the area earlier this year. Was looking for good Chinese. This was poor at best. Rice was bland, chicken kinda dry, and the meat was soaking in a boat of sauce. Was not impressed.

You really get a lot for the price and the food is fantastic! We decided to stop in on a whim for carry out and we’re not disappointed. They said it would be ready in 10 minutes, and exactly 10 minutes later we had our delicious hot food. Will be returning soon.

Alex and the gang do a great job. Great food, and for those who care… extremely clean kitchen. I send everyone who wants standard Chinese food there. I need to order off the menu… I haven’t yet, but I bet Alex would hook a person up if asked.

Desperation abound, overly hot house, and no desire to cook left me going for delivery at Canton once again. I know, I know, I said I wouldn’t. But until someone convinces the chinese buffet to allow someone to pick up food for delivery, it is what it is. Their almond chicken has returned to it’s former glory, the lo mein is delicious, and their egg foo young is good again! Did they get a new cook? Did someone thwap the cook upside the head and let him know his quality was suffering? I don’t know. But what I do know is that I am happy to order a meal and sub out everything that isn’t almond chicken for extra almond chicken, leave the pork fried rice, and buy a side of egg foo young!

I’m so disappointed, canton cannot! The egg flower soup has too much corn starch; the wonton soup has too much pepper; the sweet and sour *deep fried* pork is nothing like Chinese food; the stirred fried foods are either too salty or not enough salt, same as the rice and chao mien. It would be more correct if names Taiwan. I am from canton, but I’m not even judging it base on Cantonese food, it’s just bad food in general.

We had tried this restaurant about a year ago, while in town on a busy Saturday night. Everything on the main street was packed, including the outside eating areas, so we walked down a few side streets and found this. We weren’t sure when we walked in, because it’s a little shabby and it feels like there is no air conditioning, but we were hungry and wanted to eat. We must have gotten lucky with our order, because we enjoyed the food on that visit. Yesterday, we were in town on an even busier Saturday night(4th of July), and again, everywhere was packed. We had tickets to take a lake cruise to watch the fireworks, so we didn’t have an hour to wait for a table. We walked into Canton, where a few tables were full, but there were plenty that were not. There was a large party of about a dozen people giving their order to the only waitress/hostess in sight, so we stood there, waiting. We could see a couple of guys back in the kitchen, one of them sitting on a countertop. His buddy walked out and peeked around the divider and went back into the kitchen. He did not make eye contact or acknowledge our presence. A couple of minutes later, the other guy walked out to tell us that they were no longer taking orders for sit-down meals, as they planned to close early. He then asked if we would like something to go. No, we didn’t, and thanks for wasting our time. It was about 7:15. I don’t know if the owner of this restaurant is on the premises much, but it looks like he/she should be if he/she wants this place to survive. We certainly won’t be visiting again.

Seriously the best Chinese food in the entire area. They do spice right too! The pork fried rice is the absolute best and is so delicious. Not the biggest fan of the egg rolls but everything else is seriously good. Worth the extra money. Highly recommend to everybody who wants quality Chinese cooking.

My review for this place has been long over due and needs to get out of my draft box. Sadly, I wish I could say better things to boost the ailing feedback’s of Canton but I can’t. So instead of kicking and beating an almost dying horse(get what I mean?), I thought I would make a few suggestions to Canton. Canton needs to look hardly at their menu and simplify things to meals that work and meals that could be improved — If I were them I would totally scratch off things that obviously causes people to cringe and question their offerings… nothing wrong with lesser options but GOOD selection instead of a parchment list of options enough to make one dizzy. They really need to improve their chow-mien and lo-mien as these are really staple Chinese dishes that they should really try to shine, seriously guys — your chow mien does not represent what a true chow mien should be– it’s just plain wrong. The lemon chicken was edible and has the potential to be outstanding– balancing sweetness and acidity should be their priority for this dish as the chicken actually stayed moist. The pork bbq – hmm, this one is tricky, work on your sweet and sour sauce, the pork was also quite dry. It won’t hurt to venture out and re-do your menu, there is nothing shameful in going to another Chinese restaurant and compare your dishes against theirs, there is also google(find simple but outstanding dishes) or Food Network as a last resort. Honestly guys, you could capitalize on the Chinese Restaurant market in downtown if you guys are willing to put in the work but with the quality of food you serve, oh lawdie… it is enough to make one feel very sad. You are on the right track with the amazing service, however, no amount of graciousness can cover-up for food that is honestly sub-par. All the best to you — aim to turn the tide ;)

One of the worst places I’ve ever eaten. The hot and sour soup tasted like beef bullion. I think the rice is minute rice. Everything was laden with salt. The tables and flatware were not clean. The chairs were stained. Do not eat here.

First poor meal I’ve ever had here. They raised the prices and use cheap food now that makes no sense to me. I had the #3 upgraded to lomien($ 2.00) the portions where good. The chicken was like a frozen bites you get from tyson. The lomien noodles where top Ramen the pork was good. The service was poor. I’ll be driving to Postfalls from now on for almond chicken.

This is my go to downtown spot. I love the newly updated atmosphere, nice and open. The crab rangoons are a must have appetizer and all of the dishes I’ve tried were supremely executed. The staff is friendly and attentive, although you can always tell when there’s a new girl. All in all 5 stars from me!

My DIL, granddaughter and I stopped for lunch and we totally enjoyed it. I had lemon chicken, chow mein, BBQ pork and fried prawns. It was all good, however the egg flower soup was superb! I lost mine to my granddaughter! The BBQ pork came with a little dish of red sauce Chinese mustard and toasted sesame seeds! My little one. commandeered most of that too! Service was great. We are anxious to go back! It is old and outdated but that’s usually the best for the price.

Wow, I am surprised at most of the reviews I have read, here. I went to Canton for the first time, today. I thought the food was delicious. The service was great. The portions were generous. The prices were very good. Will definitely eat here again, and recommend to others.

Good food, menu is a little long. Sometimes they’ll make something up for you that isn’t on the menu, and that is when Canton really shines. Friendly staff. «Can-do» kind of attitude!

No, no no noooooo! The food is horrible, horrible. I order food for take out. When I got home, surprise! My almond chicken tasted like plastic and gravy, some kinda of «Chow mein» made of steam celery and some«Shrimp» bathed in a water-down sweet and sour. I can’t believe this kind of food exists! I Super disappointed! Btw, I’m still hungry… Please, don’t eat here…

Decent Chinese Buffet SITREP Uncle Gary, Cousin Dale and I found this place PURELY relying on Unilocal. THESETUP We are about an hour away in St. Maries, Idaho, but while working the ranch during the day, we certainly are not averse to roadtripping in the evening to go sightseeing and/or find new places to eat. You gotta understand that St. Maries, ID is a little logging town just about in the middle of no-where in terms of cultural diversity. The restaurant offerings(and hence for 3 bachelors living in a hotel while working a ranch without a house or buildings, and with the only other non-restaurant FOOD offerings being little grocery stores) AREMINIMAL. Bud’s, Zip’s, The Drive-In, etc., are the only places open in the evening and they are pretty much just burger-joints. Bottomline: NOASIAN(Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. etc.) food offerings for miles around. [No phở, no sushi, no chicken teriyaki *wipes tears*] ROADTRIP So aided by my iPhone and my trusty Unilocal-app, it indicated that Canton Asian Restaurant was about an hour north in Coeur d’Alene. [You’d drive that far too if you had 3 days of burger-dinners in a row.] THEFOOD Not spectacular. And though it featured both a Chinese Buffet and a Sushi Bar, the Sushi Bar was extremely limited and very plain by even the most rudimentary Sacramento, San Francisco & Seattle standards. However, having said that, it STILL was a most welcome departure. And along with the well-prepared rice, chow mein, crabs, shrimps, chickens, beef & broccoli’s, etc. etc., I was in culinary heaven considering. THELOWDOWN A good, solid, tasty & filling dining experience for any wanderers & ranch-troubadours.

Perhaps tonight was an especially terrible night for them. Just look at the picture of the #7 – lemon chicken, chow mein, fried prawns, and BBQ pork. The lemon chicken, itself tasteless, is slathered in that yellow sauce, which is a tasteless equivalent of the lemon filling in those grocery store pies. The chow mein… is absurd. Look at the photo: it is a mushy mass of overcooked cabbage, with noodles which are almost as mushy. I’m actually a fan of bad Chinese food(China Express-like), but this I cannot and will not eat. The fried prawns can’t be deciphered from the chicken, but they’re probably the best item; the fried dough has a nice sweet flavor.

Here’s the key to eating well at Canton Chinese Restaurant: Order the KOREAN dishes. Buster M. and I stopped in for a late lunch on our way through town. We were the only diners, which was understandable given the hour. We looked over the menu: a list of Chinese-American standards, and a few Korean items mixed in. We each independently made the decision to go Korean, figuring that that was the owners’ specialty. I think we made the right decision, because my Kimchi Soup and Buster’s Bulgogi were flavorful and spicy. Mind you, this was not food that you would seek out in LA or anywhere else with a Korean food scene, but for northern Idaho, not too shabby. Service was very friendly. Ambience, 1960s/70s/80s retro Chinese-restaurant style.
