I’ve been to the Salt House many times. It is a lovely setting. I love their calamari because it has a bit of spicy and the side-sauce, too, has some nice«heat.» Their fried clams are crispy which I also like. I have two negatives to share; both easily addressed if the manager reads this which I hope is the case. First the service is very uneven. The waitstaff are well intended young summer help; certainly polite and eager enough when they get to you. I offer the thought that they are poorly trained. The distance from table to kitchen is certainly sufficient that I, too, could easily forget a request for extra sauce. Second, the bathrooms downright messy, regularly. It would be so easy to have someone responsible for going in to pick up toilet paper and tidy up every couple of hours. I can’t explain why there is typically toilet paper laying around on the floor, but such is the case on every visit.

Way over priced and not worth the value. Plenty of competition for lunch…

This is a really clever use of Atlantica’s location and real estate. It’s an outdoor mini restaurant situated entirely on a dock-like thing adjacent to the main restaurant building which is on Cohasset Harbor. The view is gorgeous.(That’s a star all by itself.) I’ve been here several times and never had to wait for a table but have also never seen it empty. How do they do that? The food is okay to good. Twice I’ve ordered teh fried clams which are supposed to come with pickled onions and twice the onions have been missing. Both times the different servers said the exact same thing(as though coached by managment?): «oh, they forget to include those sometimes.» The mixed drinks are okay. Fries are good. Slaw is good. Fish tacos plentiful. The service is pretty good — almost all college kids or teenagers — but well-trained. Never had to wait long for anything. But they also respect conversation and lingering over a drink and a sunset. Parking is plentiful but there’s also free valet parking at Atlantica. Not sure if they let you use it for Salt House as I’ve never had to try. There’s a boat dock, too, if you want to arrive by water. Overall, it’s a good experience, worth the trip to Cohasset.

My one star is for the waitstaff. Our waitress, the hostess and manager were pleasant and attentive. Otherwise, the food is horrible and overpriced. The shrimp cocktail, and fried fish and scollops tasted frozen(the manager even confirmed the frozen scollops). The fries, caesar salad and clam chowder were mediocre at best. Then to top it off, my husband found a hair in his food.

First let me start off by saying the staff were excellent, on a very busy night we were seated promptly and our server’s were delightful(all the servers helped out all the tables on this night, as a good team should!) the bar was running way behind and it took a long time to get a drink. The 2 stars is for the fried fish. i got a combo of scallops and fish, wish i hadn’t, the fish tasted fishy, not a good sign, and it was a little dark, not the bright white you should see with any type of cod, haddock etc and it was«fish bits» not a fillet. Batter was thin and tasteless, however, it worked on the delicate tasting scallops so didn’t overpower them, but a thicker batter is required on the fish. One of our party had the chicken salad and loved it, fish tacos were also well received so not a complete bust for our party. I guess i’m just disappointed that a place with such gorgeous views, right on the water can’t get something as basic as fish n chips right. I’d still head back there for cocktails but i’ll head to Tinkers son down the street in Norwell for my fish fix.

On a chilly Friday night after the sun had set and at the end of the season, we dropped in for a quick bite. Too cold to sit outside, so we joined another couple at the bar for dinner. Local fried clams with a side of coleslaw and a Diana Too salad(thanks Rick Barros) were the perfect meals. Quick service. Beers were cold. Matt was a terrific, sociable tender. Will return.

We went here for a quick bite before a wedding. The menus offerings ranged from $ 14-$ 30. I decided to go with a modest cheeseburger whereas I had filet mignon coming my way for dinner. The burger ran $ 14 and came across like a preformed patty that was probably frozen, the french fries tasted like sysco or another frozen food distributer product, my mothers clams were well overcooked and everything had a slight taste of a cleaning product. In any over priced city, or vacationland they charge between $ 8-$ 14 dollars for a burger, the only difference is that product is good because of competition and expectation. The pop music was also very bad coming over the speakers and was incredibly loud(even for a 27 yr old).

The view is great. The Salt House is situated in the most perfect location you could want. Cohasset is gorgeous, especially in the summer, and especially on the harbor. It is relaxing and beautiful and the ocean breeze is the stuff of dreams. Here ends my positive review. You’re paying for the view. Nothing else would justify $ 20 for three teeny pieces of dry fried fish next to a sad little pile of french fries, or $ 28 for a plate less than a quarter full of clams and scallops, even at a normal South Shore price knock up. The oysters are pretty good(they better be for $ 16 for six) but they were served on a plate filled with water and one or two lost looking pieces of mostly-melted ice. On my most recent visit, there weren’t that many people on the patio, but it still took us about 20 minutes to get noticed by our server. I don’t need a server to babysit me, but it would have been nice to see him more than just to take our order, drop off our food and drop off our check. It also would have been nice if he had anticipated certain needs, like a spoon for clam chowder. Or a fork for the oysters. Or silverware, period. Or napkins. Or water refills. Or anything at all. I’ve been coming here about once a year for the last seven years, each time hoping that this time it would be better. It never is. So disappointing. If you like the view, just bring a picnic and eat up the street by the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage.

The view of the harbor is fantastic, and reason enough to come here. The lobster roll was lightly dressed and seasoned, and the lobster was the real centerpiece, as opposed to some restaurants that use too much mayo. My only complaint is that they will not put table umbrellas up on a windy day because of a pending lawsuit.

Beautiful setting, see attached sunset photo, but food and service was lacking. It was not busy but staff seemed preoccupied. i appreciate it when restaurants or businesses hire local kids, but the inexperience was evident. Some training needed. Food was unremarkable. Everything was overdone, from salmon to sandwiches. In sum, a nice place for an evening drink and some apps but do not expect much on the food end. Ps, I noted someone mentioned the bug issue. It was windy enough when we went, but I can see how that would be an issue(as with any harbor restaurant). Bring your own repellent. They did not have any.

This restaurant is right on the water on Cohasset Harbor. The atmosphere is spectacular on a nice day or evening. We have dined here many times and expect the service to be mediocre and the food to be very good. Unfortunately for us, the food quality has gone way down since last year. The reason the service is normally poor is because they hire college kids to work the summer and they typically either do not care or are just too inexperienced. In our visit we were actually very impressed with our server, Wes. On to the food; We ordered the fried clam appetizer for $ 14. By far the best thing we had. Outstanding clams but why have it for $ 14 on the appetizer menu and $ 28 on the entre menu? Who is paying $ 14 for French fries and cole slaw? For our main course, I ordered the fish tacos and my wife ordered boiled lobster. I got the mixed greens and cole slaw for sides my wife got French fries and cole slaw and asked if she could get a mix of half order of onion rings and half order of fries instead of just fries. They said sure with an upcharge of $ 2.50. I had the fish tacos last year and thought they were some of the best fish tacos I had ever had so I was really looking forward to the dish. It was not good. Average at best probably below average. My side dishes were also very average. My wife’s entre was not even average. The boiled lobster was over cooked and she did not eat any of the tail. She mentioned this to the waiter who offered his apologies but that was it. We believe the onion rings and fries were frozen and not fresh made. All in all not worth the high prices charged here for average, at best, food.

Terrific setting. Good food. The adults had a variety of seafood and the lobster roll was a standout. Our daughter had the chicken panini and it probably win the meal. We will go back often.

While in town for a wedding, we decided to grab lunch here since it was close to where we were staying and it was on the water. The service was so slow, only one waitress for all twelve tables outside. It took entirely too long to get our drink orders, and when I got my Bloody Mary, I had to send it back because it was just awful. The food itself was just okay, the Clam Chowder I ordered was good — but nothing special. The sandwiches my friends ordered weren’t anything special, and none of us were overly happy with the experience. The fries were good, I’ll say that. Since we were just visiting, we won’t be back … but I wouldn’t recommend this place to any locals or others visiting the area. Go elsewhere!

If it is a nice summer day/evening and you are in the neighborhood, this is a nice place to grab a bite and people watch! The outdoor deck overlooking the water is one of the key attributes of this place. There is a good amount of seating outside and given my brief peek inside, I’d say it’s worth the wait if there is one. The menu has a wide range of options available, including a few for the land lubbers. My friends were quite into the Mongolian chicken tenders, which had a dusting of dried coconut on top, however they looked a little too smothered in sauce for my tastes, so I passed on those. The lobster quesadilla also got high marks from the table. I opted to skip the appetizers and went for a fried seafood platter with clams and scallops. A heaping pile of Vitamin G goodness came out not long after and I was really pleased with my choice. The seafood was lightly fried and the scallops had that lovely sweet taste that is hard to replicate at home. The clams were extremely fresh. The platter came with fries, a small scoop of cole slaw and tarter sauce. I overheard another table ask about my platter, as they had missed that section on the menu. If the fried seafood is up your alley, just be on the look out for it, but fair warning you might miss it on the first read. Our server was excellent and very patient with our party, and helped with suggestions from time to time.

Stopped by for a few drinks en route to a wedding up at the Lightkeeper’s House. Great little find – it was scorching out and most men were in tuxes so we sat inside at the small bar. Could see they were doing a hopping business out on the patio by the cove, but not for us – didn’t want to arrive dripping wet for the wedding. Bartender and staff were friendly, making lots if good suggestions. Johnny Daly(aka an Arnold Palmer with alcohol) seems to be the drink of the summer lately so we obliged. Definitely would like to head back and try lunch on the patio some lazy summer afternoon.

Take a look at the main picture(ohman please let it be that amazing sunset shot with the boats and the colors and the sky thing with the cottony things). See what you see there? That’s what you’ll see there, from the waterfront deck seating replete with with branded sunbrellas. As for the menu… there’s a menu? The food is supplemental to the view, and the peace of mind birthed by a soundtrack of soft lapping and the occasional gull. I got the fish tacos(fried haddock, crema, lime, cabbage on two medium flour tortillas) with a handful of baby greens and coleslaw on the side. The meal as a whole is bland and in desperate need of salt, and the haddock itself had the crystalline, dehydrated texture of frozen fish sticks. Service is extremely spotty, with no real reason why — we were the first to arrive for lunch and the only table for 20 minutes. Still she was radiant, the environment scenic and her mom’s mushroom swiss burger looked tempting enough to get me back to the patio later this season. With a salt shaker.
